Southern Taiga

The Southern Tiaga, also known as the Everchill Wood, also known as the Deadwhite (3). A frozen forest once home to a powerful ice witch. (1) Legend has it she cursed the armies of her enemies, binding their unwilling souls to the very trees, creating hundreds of twisted dryads which lash out at all who enter their frozen graveyard. (1) If the trees don't get you, the undead will. Wights, ghouls, and skeletons are all quite common. (1)

Somewhere in the fringes of the Everchill lives an oni - an Ogre Mage (1). Rumor has it that the oni raises cockatrices, and may be trading them to the southron orcs for unknown purposes (2).

Alright... I used the descriptor 'southron' up there on a whim, but it came back to me yesterday and I had to do something about it. So here you go:

(Not canon, as I have no coins to spend and it's almost definitely not a thematic fit. Nevertheless.)

Many of said cockatrices have been bought up by House Orin (1).

It is a little known fact that Orin's warehouses employ a complexly coded inventory scheme, with approximately one in every 4 crates randomly assigned to be filled not with merchandise, but cockatrices.(1) More than a few unwelcome thieves have discovered this security strategy, but none have returned to report on it. Rumor has it that a splinter faction of the Circle of Wild Mages has taken up in the remote and inhospitable Deadwhite (1). They are said to be experimenting with the synchronization of Wellspring Fonts (1), attempting to use controlled destabilization to channel vast amounts of power from the rending of the planar fabric (1). No-one knows what they are planning to use this power for (1).

Chillwood Treants stalk the barren landscape (1).

Doomed to a different fate, the general of the witch's enemy was spared being turned into a dryad. Instead he was embalmed alive and then buried in a frozen ziggurat. He now rules a quadrant of the taiga as a mummy lord (4)

General Feróc (1)
-Mummy Lord
-Bound to the land by the souls of his lost army (1)
-Continuously feels the collective eternal torment of his troops, as they are frozen & bitten by the tormenting icy winds(1)

The dryads and chillwood treants are made from ironwood pines, cruelcopse larches, and corpsewood spruces. (2) The hill dwarves of the Marble City and some druids venture into the borderlands of the Southern Taiga to harvest the rare ironwood pine for heavy armor that has special benefits. (3)

The frozen southern taiga of the Everchill Wood borders the land of the Frost Giants.

Dungeon: Tomb of the Ice Witch

Secreted away by General Feróc, the Ice Witch's body remains frozen and in pristine condition. General Feróc was actually enamored with the witch in life but how obligations to the state forced him into war with the witch. When she died, the mummy lord took her body to his ziggurat along with many of her valuable spellbooks, artifacts, and magical items.

Oh ya, I love the idea of a lovers tryst amongst villains that ends with them both eternally entombed in a frozen taiga.

The oni's name is Vatir. She lives on the edge of a large frozen lake.

General Feróc is the only publicly known Undying. His existence and his tryst have also been popularized in song and story throughout the years, sometimes as a cautionary tale, sometimes as a exhortation to young lovers.

Adventurers rarely make it to the ziggurat and even fewer have returned with their lives over the years. One intrepid financier has been posting in the adventurers guild for many years in hopes of mapping the area.

One of Martín's last acts before being imprisoned was to commission a group of adventurers to recover an artifact from the Tomb of General Feróc. It is unknown why.

The adventurers were unsuccessful in their mission and only two of them returned alive from the mission. Both were badly physically and emotionally scarred by the venture.

General Feroc was actually a woman. Her all female troops were turned into dryads.
Her lover turned her into an undead mummy and command of the dryads after Feroc was forced to invade the lands.
The witch and the mummy lived together for some small period of time before the witch passed on.
Perhaps Feroc's Historical Hand involves the Necromancers but they've been fully corrupted by Javed with exception to Martin?
