System design dis/theory: physical combat system

Do you guys and gals know any system where melee fighting incorporates exchanging blows or weapon attacks - with physically adding/throwing dice by each side of the duel? Or something similar.

Something in lines:
"I make a strong swing with my 2h sword aiming at his head!" - you add and roll d12 to the pool and loose 5 energy.
"So he tries to blok it with his medium shield!" - GM adds d8 and rolls d8 to the pool - because you have this equipment.
"Ok, I yeald" - let's roll finally.

And it could go like this for several rounds.

I am not sure what you are asking, but 'going several round of adding dice, until eventually someone yields' puts me in mind of Dogs in the Vineyard or Before the Rebellion.

I believe "Way of Steel" may be pretty close to the mechanic you're interested in.

Hârnworkd has a mechanic sort of like what you're describing. It's a back & forth between combatants inside one contested roll but Hârn is super crunchy and decidedly not recommended for PbP.
