How Many Games Are You Involved In?

Just curious among the regulars, how many active games (games that have had an in-character post in the last week or two?) are you involved in?

As a GM or Player.

It's 1 for me :P

Wondering if I should step up my gaming game...

About 20 something. Gming like 6 and playing the others :-P

GM 7 games and playing about 6 or 7 active and 3 inactive games

I'm playing in 9 at the moment - getting a few ideas together to try my hand at running a game or two soon as well

12 that are active. I'm running 2 of them. I remember when my personal limit was 2. That lasted only until the next cool game alert popped up in my e-mail.

I'm only playing in... 18 games. Wow that's the first time I've actually counted them.

23 active or semi-active, DM of 1 (that may count as 2, since it has 2 groups in the same game).

Good lord people. I'm DMing 1 and playing in 4 and I thought that was a pretty full docket.

9 as a player, 3 as a GM. Though one of those has each player in their own thread so it feels more like 6. I recently went through and pruned, most of my dead games. So when I feel up to it I'll be redressing the ideas in those and putting up some new games.

Running one, playing in five, thinking about running a second one.

11 as a player and 4 as GM.

Wow. Been on the site about 7 months and am playing in 6 games. I thought I was stretched thin...looks like I'm a slacker.

Good grief. Just the one here. Alright I definitely need to join another game and maybe run one myself...

I feel like I should add the disclaimer that the level of involvement each player has should not be taken as an indicator of what another player should feel like they need to meet.

You put in however much time you feel like you can afford.

Finally counted. 7 as a GM, 13 (active games) as a player. About to possibly joining two more as a player.

Not to mention different GMs/players/games have different styles and availability, so while it may be manageable to play in 10 games in which ppl post 1/week on average, it's less practical to manage that with a game where ppl are posting multiple times a day.

GMing 2 and playing in 10 more. Just wrapped up a third game I was GMing a week or two ago, so thinking about the next one.

GMing 4-5, playing in 3. This is about my limit.

I am playing in 2 and gming 2. Though it looks like 1 of my games is dead/inactive. I feel this already takes a lot of time. So i am hesitant to add anything else. As for my game that is inactive I think I realised that I really screwed it up as a DM. My pacing for PbP in that sucked. So if i ever DM a second game i will try to pace better for PbP.

Playing in 4 active, and running 1 active, just closed a second game I was running. I know I'm at my limit now --or rather was one game ago-- but I'm rolling will saves every time I see another interesting game, especially if it's a system I haven't tried before.

I am playing in 3 and running 1. Some days (the busy ones) I'm glad I don't have more, then the very next day I wish I had more games. So I guess I'm near my limit projecting after the busy days.

I run 1 game and am signed up for 23 others (19 as an active participant, and 4 as an observer/learner). 4 of the 19 games have slowed to a halt, but the other 15 get new posts pretty much daily.

I own & run a business that has me working 16-hour days, 7 days a week.

Sometimes I'll get off work and there'll be a truckload of threads to catch up on and post to (and of course I try mybest to write quality posts), and then there are days (like today) when I sit here and there's nothing new and I wish I had more games! :-D

Let's see, I think I'm actively running 3 (though only one is really hoppin' active) and signed up for 17, but of those, only 14 are really regularly updating.

I am GMing two and playing in 11.

I'm playing in four games and GMing three more. All are active, although one is slow right now. I feel like I have hit the limit of what I can do without flaking out on other players, but there is always a new system I'd like to try.

I'm GMing 1 and playing in 2. That's pretty good for me though sometimes I feel like I post to much in my games. I find it interesting that almost everyone that posted here is a GM. Makes you wonder how much people get out of their game threads to peruse the general forums.

GMing 2 (one is 5-10 post a day, the other 1/day) and playing in 2 both average 3 posts a day. Pretty full bill for me here. We have over 4000 in-game posts and over 5500 total posts in the 5-10/day game. We only started in November of last year. My players are awesome. I am so glad I found this site. I know what it sounds like but I am proud of that accomplishment. Link

I'm playing in four active games. That seems to be about my limit. Sometimes I think I'd like to be in more and maybe run a game. I work a desk job and can usually post during the day. Character creation, though, is something I have to carve out some precious free time to do. In every game I've joined, I've been the last to submit a character. It's frustrating to have labored over something I think is cool and original only to have a game go dark (four so far) and to have wasted that time.

I need to stop joining games, but I keep seeing new ones pop up and I get excited... I just love creating new characters, it seems!

Two games: one as a GM and another as a player. Feeling satisfied, but I can see the appeal of playing in more games. Reading this thread gives me a new-found respect for how involved many of my fellow players are in this community.

I'm new here. Just running two games. Hoping to join one or two as a player.

It's an illness. We need to set up that support group already.

I really love character creation, too. It's just so time-consuming for me. I'm an office worker by day and a single parent by night, so carving out time to craft something I'm proud of and not just slapped together is difficult. I'd love to join a couple more games, but four holds my attention pretty well, especially the one that's five to ten posts a day. If I get busy at work and can't check in until after I get my daughter to bed, sitting down to two or three dozen unread Gamers Plane emails is daunting!

Another drawback to being in so many games: I had to post my notice of absence to 2 dozen separate OOC threads! We do have an Absences thread that's supposed to help with that but I fear not every GM follows it.

Yeah, and it made me realize how many games we're in together! Damn!

To update my status, when I started this thread I was running 1 game (averaging a little over 1 post/PC/day), now I'm also playing in 2 others and have been keeping an eye out for the right 3rd, but I think that'd be about my limit.

I'm playing 4 games and GMing one.

Am currently a player in 36 games, though only 28 of those are still showing any signs of life.

It's amazing then how it's still possible for me to be sitting at the computer right now doing this to the GP homepage:

GM: 12 games
Player: 7 regularly active games (plus a couple more that are slow, but have occasional posts)

It's becoming more and more difficult to keep them all going! My new promotion leaves far less time for posting :(

Right now, by the look of things, only two. I'm holding my breath for the Urban Shadows game to pick up again, but I probably shouldn't... XD

Honestly, I'd be more interested in DMing a new game than joining one at the moment...

Used to be in 6 active games (as a player), but they all went tits up when the DM vanished. 8-( Trying to get into more games now.

Playing in 4 (3 active). Running 1. I swing back and forth between needing more and being overwhelmed.
I don't know how any of you juggle more than 10. It just seems inconceivable to me. Still, well done!

This is exactly how I got into this many games. I'd be in a good number and then, on a slow day, I'd be like "Hey! You know, it might be fun to run another game!"

SAME, except on the player side. I’m playing in about 17 games, which is manageable unless 10+ are updated on the same day (which happens a lot when the same GM is managing those games- oh hi naat!) in which case I scramble to get a post up. But then on slow days I’m like "Ooh, another game!" or "Maybe I should finally learn how to DM a game for once..."

Ditto! Right now my Latest Posts is two pages of new updates. Later today it'll be back to repeatedly reloading GP.



And yeah, maybe I should DM already.

We definately need more DM's here. As for me, I'm currently running 5 Cthulhu games and only playing in one. More than enough for me!

I’m only GMing one, but that one’s my baby and takes up a fair bit of my time. I play in the West Marches game and currently 3 (soon to be 4 others). I’m usually hovering somewhere between 3-6 games at any given time and I definitely fall into that trap of taking on another game when one or two slow down. I have no idea how Naat keeps up with that many games. I’m not sure if I’m impressed or concerned. Probably a bit of both :)

I will DM for food basically. I have so many systems I own that I want to try out. But so far, people only seems interested in D&D 5th edition... Nothing wrong with that, but I want to DM other stuff...

I oddly like only the not D&D stuff (there's always someone who wants to be in a D&D party) few want to play Eclipse Phase using a spreadsheet to keep track of your current body/persona/cover identity or play mice because they're not 'cool', some systems are just rough on PBP possibly since 7th sea went up for several games at once and they've all gone to the wayside. I think you add in more games if your games slow down as a player or GM possibly and when you have to many you start tapping out of slow moving games or if you have no idea where you want to take a character.

I play in mainly D&D or Pathfinder games, simply so because I don't have time to learn all of the new systems all at the same time*

* Even as I say that, I'm in games for like 6 different systems :P

I'm down to running two games (both Vampire) and playing in 5 more (2 Pathfinder, plus Zweihander, L5R and Masks). I was in a whole bunch more but found myself overwhelmed. Interestingly, even though I felt that I was low on time that I could commit to games, I dropped slow games rather than fast ones, generally because I felt lost or had lost track of what the players were supposed to be doing.

Maybe that's my main bane with Play-By-Post, is that it is difficult to sort through hundreds/thousands of posts to re-find clues, directions and other things the GM has passed on. When you have to find that stuff to make your next post, it takes a lot of time. I need to take better notes as a player.

I too am down a bunch -- but largely because work is super busy. I'm down to in 1 game and DMing two (two different versions of Middle Earth). I have my eye on getting another game running, but I have some prep work to do up front so I feel less overwhelmed when it needs updatin'.

My preference would be to only be in a handful of super-active, long-running games but it never seems to work out that way due to schedules and life getting in the way. So instead, I end up in way more semi-active games than I should be.
