In the foothills of the Avanti Mountains, the Hill Dwarves of Verge have taken hold in their massive marble quarries. Arguably the most friendly of the Dwarves, these peaceful denizens have made their economy on the marble, cheese, and wine they export to affluent towns such as Dragonwick. The protect the marble city with precariously balanced marble blocks, a marble maze with collapsible sections, and murder holes for crossbowmen. The Hill Dwarf farmers of the land harvest grapes among other things such as dairy goats.

The Hill Dwarves are renowned for being the best and possibly the first shapers of golems, a fact unsurprising to anyone acquainted with their stone artistry and drive for perfection. No one with any sense would even consider stealing any of the city's statuary.

They export fine Dwarvish Wine instead of ale and soft goat cheeses that rivals that of the Heresiarchy.

And yet because of the extreme value of some of the craftsmenship, it does not prevent some from trying. A team of Custodians, in both senses of the word, take care of the maze that guards the entrance which includes washing blood off of guardian golems. The job of Custodian is hereditary and involves many trades taught from a young age which are important to keeping the defenses up.
