volatile Dragon-Fat and Breath Weapon Glands? (2 coins)

[Feel free to challenge this one, I think it gives more variety in the types of weapons they can produce. Maybe they make flame throwers best because red dragon glands were the easist to engineer into a weapon after harvesting. Also, I had the idea of them using the fat to make normal things you render fat for too, just at a higher quality, like candles, hence the name Dragonwick. Maybe dragons have two types of fat deposits? One from eating calories, the other from absorbing their hoard? The fat surrounds the breath weapon gland and has similar arcane properties, which is then used for the sludge. It is one of the reasons the gland is so damn hard to harvest. There are less throwers and gasbladders than sludge because of the difficulty of pulling an intact gland. Keep them out of the hands of lower level heros. But makes the sludge somewhat affordable. Also, I'm just spitballing this stuff and then couldn't stop writing. That's all heresy that I haven't spent coins on but may be willing to as we go forward. Also, you are still free to dispute the idea of gland use anyway.]

Haha, I love it. There are elite specialists (1) within the Arsonists' Guild who make their weapons from the glands themselves, which means that they might have Lighting Spitters, Frostwind Throwers, etc.

I think the Arsonists need a leader:

Chief Pyrotechnicist (1) "Egar" (1)
-Big as hell (1)
-Thinks he is/seeks to become a dragon (1)

Large mercenary band, The Wyverns Bane (2c) Support the trading of dragon rendered products mostly through guarding caravans. (1c) Induction into the band requires successful (ie non-fatal, non-maimed) dragon hunt. (1c)

Leader is Saanvi Bhavsar, one-eyed gnome barbarian, nicknamed Captain Spitfire. (5c?)

Dragonwick's native population is in fact rock gnomish (1) and is the reason for most of the necessary technologies that help render the dragon effectively. (1) The Gnomish clerics pray mostly to the God of the Crossroads for guidance, healing, and luck in all things. (1) Gambling is not frowned upon by the God of the Crossroads, it is in fact encouraged (1) so the clerics also run casinos as part of their temples. (1) Bets are taken very seriously in the temples and all must pay up whatever they put as stake. (1)

Dragonwick has a small number of elite outfitting businesses that specialize in guided dragon hunts for wealthy thrill-seeking aristocrats (1). At least two of these outfitters are run by temple casinos, arguing that, since neither success nor safety can be guaranteed, the endeavor constitutes gambling (1).

Dragon hunts are large and expensive undertakings, typically involving vast amounts of travel to find the reclusive creatures (1). It is not unusual to come across Dragonwick expeditions (or the remains thereof) in many disparate far-flung lands, or possibly even other continents (note: need to get some other continents)(1).

Someone on the internet made me a picture. And it's awesome. Enjoy the processing plant of Dragonwick:

Wow, I find that deeply distressing somehow.

Dragonwick Slums "The Ossuary" (1c). This is were most of the down and dirty of dragon rending occurs, most olfactorily notedly fat rendering (for making dragon soap) and dragon hide tanning (3c). Dragon bodies are easily transported through the area via a series of fetid canals (1c). In fact, one of the most prestigious livings to be made as a sad occupant of the Ossuary is mule driver to pull the the barges (1c). While the intricate extraction of glands is obviously carried out by members of the Arsonists guild, all the Processing plants hire day labors off of the street (think The Jungle) so there is no security for most people and being injured or ailing usually quickly becomes fatal (2c).

Most adventurers and dragonhunters gather in the evenings at the Brillig Tadpole to eat, drink, and tell tall tales of their adventures (2c). It is run by Bayou Jo, an ancient bullywug (1c). She has the most amazing backstory that she loves to tell to everyone who visits her fine establishment. Unfortunately, no one can understand her frantic croaks and ribbits (2c). She spends most of her time behind the bar, listening to the backstories of her customers. Bullywugs love backstories. (1c)

A group of human brothers (1) have grown in notoriety in Dragonwick (1). They are dragon hunters (1) known as the Frog Stranglers (1) because of an early career extermination of encroaching bullywugs (1).

Frog Strangler Earl(1)
Ranger(1)

Earl lost his left arm at the elbow(1) some years back in a dragon hunt. He had become separated from his brothers in the wilderness and was caught alone by an adolescent Green, and is lucky to have escaped with his life at all. When the beast clamped down on his arm, Earl managed to escape being devoured entirely by plunging his longsword through its left eye(1). The Green fled and escaped as the the brothers were forced to attend to Earl's wounds to save his life(1).

Since this incident, the brothers are loathe to be caught apart again(1).

I had them in my head as three to five brothers . . . Can I spend a coin to do that or must I spend two? I just don't see two bros strong enough to take down dragons regularly.

Nono, that's cool. I'll go back and revise my statement then. Earl's probably dead in that case. =p

High Renderer Molly Dragontallow(1) is the leader of the Dragon Rending guild (1). She is an imposing Half-orc and an unusually shrewd politicker (2). She came into power around the same time the Frog Stranglers starting gaining notoriety and they have an alliance of sorts. Dragontallow keeps the brothers well outfitted and high repute in the city and in exchange, the Strangers keep her informed of back room dealings that are common among dragon hunters (who is paying who, who is in desparate short supply of dragon for their plants etc.) (3).

Dragonwick is a city with 21 guilds. (1) 7 major guilds and 14 minor guilds. (1) Major guilds include Arsonist, Dragon Rendering, Armorcrafts, Adventurers, Bankers and Money Changers, Healers, and Weaponsmiths. (6)

Guild leaders serve as Priors and decide major issues for the city along with the Standerbearer of Justice, the highest office of Dragonwick. (4)

Lesser matters are decided by the minor guilds. (1)

I counted naming all the major guilds as 1 coin. If you think I should spend 6 more, let me know.

Eh; it's dicy. Maybe just make it 1 coin together for all the guilds that have already been explicitly or implicitly defined (Arsonist, Dragon Rendering, Bankers, Armorcrafts(I think?)) and leave the other slots open or spend one coin each to define them.

keeps offices in the north end of the Ossuary(1c)

The town guard are armed with cinquedeas (1) (stat as short sword). There is a seedy port district (1) that has a brothel run by Madam Bovinry (1) a Minotaur (1) and is protected by Uncle Daddy (1).
