Merri took the arrows, Hraefn has the leather bag, and Caedwyn the helm. Bram kept the vials and scroll. As for identifying things, that is part of the fun and RP... unless Ser Bram would care to just cast Identify on everything. :P

Ahh, I see. Well as we ride northeast I'll spend some time trying to figure it out on my own then. Looking the helm over for any sign of inscriptions or distinctive markings or such. I'll try it on at different light levels to see how it effects my vision, etc. While wearing it one day I'll ask Lady Ilwyn to just punch me as hard as she can in the face as well.

I'll spend some time on horseback polishing my armor too, making sure it's gleaming appropriately before we arrive at Hartland.

Ilwyn has like four languages. Why don't we try that? XD

Sore, but I suppose I’ll live. I say, rubbing my leg out.

We've just had two days of travel time, plus another potential three days coming up. So it's back to Aldrusian to see if Bram has cast Identify on everything in the meantime. :)
In the course of the journey through Hartland on the way to Tycha, Hraefn had the time to ponder on Merriweather's injury. The simplest solution would be if there was indeed someone at Tycha able to employ the more restorative healing required. Otherwise the rogue might still not be able to use his bow. Another option, much harder, is for Hraefn himself to acquire sufficient power from the land to be able to provide the magic. With that in mind, he had been spending most of his time detouring through the forests in his daily commune in nature.

Greater Restoration is only one level away. Gimme more powah!

Etna rides along on the flank of the convoy, her eyes to the woods, the peaks and the sky. Not truly taking in the scenery, her eyes are glazed over pensively. She considers how much closer now to her companions she is than she was in Gorna, even Oytmeet. I've missed having others at my back, people to trust. Always at the back if her mind however, is the haunting memory of betrayal. Am I wrong to fall so easily into trust again?

Throughout the ride, she hunts for her food. She talks scarcely, but it is easy to tell not so much out of malice. At stops she converses with animals there.

Unfortunately, the 5e Identify spell only allows one item to be identified per expenditure of each 100 gp value pearl. I'm afraid Bram does not have that many pearls on him. If anyone else has any that they would wish to donate to the cause, I'm sure Bram would be happy to do the work. Each casting only take a minute.

It's pearl shopping time in Tycha!

OOC:
Actually, unlike other editions, the pearl is not consumed by the spell. I’ve toyed with making the pearl an expendable 10GP component instead, but for this game I’ll stick to the rules on this. Unless a spell says it is consumed, assume it does not.

OK, my confusion is fixed... I had two similar threads in two games, and thought I was replying to this game when i actually posted in the other... So I will wait for Aldrusian to decide on whether or not to use Identify, or allow Caedwyn to role play Ilwyn punching his face...

Having played older editions, I was pleasantly surprised by 5e's non-consumable material components. I'm just glad nobody is punching Hraefn's face to test the bag of holding! :D :D

Punch! In the face!

OOC:
I had always thought since first edition (which where I learned the game originally) that magic components were always consumed during the spell casting. But you're the boss.
Bram says as they are about ready to depart, "I can use the spell for 4 or 5 items if we don't need me to cast any other fairly low level magic before I can rest. I'm assuming you would want me to do the Helmet, the arrows and the bag. I'm thinking anything else can wait awhile."

OOC:
For the sake of story, I will assume that Bram pours over the items as you all travel along.

Well... that probably would be more efficient.

After they gather everything up again and begin walking Bram reports his findings.

"The Helm is what we thought. It allows the wearer to comprehend almost any language spoken in the wearer's presence. It knows 4 now and can understand as many as six more. The bag is a little more surprising. I had at first thought it was like mine but it is, indeed, a bag of holding. Much more volume than my handy haversack. The arrows also contain something of a surprise. Nine of them are as I suspected having a single point of enchantment. The tenth one is unexpected. I've not seen its like before. It is an arrow of Monstrosity Slaying. One of the potions is something more than a simple or common item. It allows the imbiber to breathe fire like a dragon. The scroll is something that we could get creative with under the right circumstances. It's a spell of Unseen Servant."

"Then this will be very handy when we have to carry or move many items. Perhaps before we enter the dungeon proper we can empty out all of its contents for safekeeping at our base camp, so that we will be able to make use of it at its fullest capacity." Hraefn was thoughtful about how best to use their newly acquired item on behalf of the party. Then towards Caedwyn, "If necessary, perhaps I would ask for the helm to learn one of my more commonly used animal languages. It'll help if I'm in one of my forms and need to speak urgently with the rest of you."
Jan 25, 2019 3:22 pm
He nods and hands the helm over to Hraefn, "It's worth a try. I'm surprised that animals have a language honestly. I had assumed when a dog barks, 'woof woof woof' essentially translates to 'hey hey hey'"

Is there anything the groups wishes to do while in the Hartland weigh station? Or do we continue to Tycha?

OOC:
If there is nothing at Hartland that can help any of our members and we can make it to Tycha before dark, then let's push on.
