Welcome everyone! I'm away this weekend, so I won't be quick to respond, but feel free to roll up your characters and post them here for the group to see & coordinate.

I'll start. The concept I'm shooting for is a human male circle Mage, an artist who seeks peace to quiet the storm inside. I'll roll 8 stats in order, 3d6 for each, and then 2d6 for the racial benefit. I'll then swap one pair of abilities as needed, and pick the rest of the stuff.

I'll swap dex and will, and give me +0s, except: cunning +1, magic +2, will +1.

The Circle Mage benefit from the roll of 7 is +1 cunning, giving me +2.

From Circle Mage, I get +1 magic, an ability focus CUNNING (HISTORICAL LORE), speak and read Trade tongue, and read Ancient Tevene.

Oh, I get two benefit rolls, I'll edit that in. Okay, that's Focus: CUNNING (RELIGIOUS LORE)

From the Mage class, I have
-starting health 20+con+1d6
-Arcane Lance
-Magic Training (3 spells: I'll choose Heal, Mind Blast, and Winters Grasp)
-Mana Points = 10+magic+1d6
-Magic Talent: I'll choose Lore
-weapon groups: brawling and staves

Abilities after all that: 0s except, Cunning +2, Magic +3, Will +1

Ok, I made some rolls but I'm not liking the results so if I may I'll just play one of the pregens as I said before. I'll go with the dwarven warrior, the last pregen attached to the end of this quickstart guide with only these modifications:
1) Renaming him Grapthor.
2) I'd like to wield two axes instead of mace+axe.
3) Changing the origin story, maybe.

[ Edit: Sorry, deleted my last post. I rolled 1d6 for all my stats instead of 3d6. Fixing it now ]

High Concept so far is for a character named Jake Chambers. He is a 16-year-old boy who struggles to come to terms with his innate magical ability. Having never known his father he leaves home to try and set out to find him. He strives to know more about his father and where his magical nature came from.

Edit 1: I'll be swapping my Magic and Strength.

Edit 2: Looks liek the Tevinter Laetan background and mage class are where I'm going with this character. Adding abilities.

Edit 3: Adding my Base HP roll (20 + 0 (Con) + 2 = 22 HP) and my Mana Points roll (10 + 4 (Mag) + 4 = 18 MP) for my starting number of Mana Points.

Edit 4: Rolling starting money beyond starting Mage gear (50 + 7 = 57 silver pieces)

Hi all. So I see we've got two magic users and a warrior. I was thinking of making a warrior, but maybe I'll play a rogue. I'll post more in the morning. Maybe I'll let some rolls help decide what to play.

Ok, switching Magic and Communication, that'll give me
Comm 10 (1), Con 13 (2), Cunning 12 (2), Dex 12 (2), Mag 7 (0), Per 12 (2), Str 14 (2), Will 11 (1)
So for a Fereldan Freeman, there's a +1 to Con, I read and speak the Trade Tongue (a.k.a. the King's Tongue), I'll choose the ability focus: Willpower (courage) since my father is a disgraced knight who fled battle (damn coward) and I'm wanting to restore honor to the family name.
With a 6 and 12 (see rolls below), I get Focus: Dexterity (riding), and +1 Strength.

I'm thinking either an Avvar or a city elf, with a leaning toward city elf, who dreams of becoming a knight despite the impossibility inherent in his origin.

Rolling the stats: COM (1), CON (2), CUN (2), DEX (2), MAG (3), PER (1), STR (0), and WIL (1).
I'm going to swap MAG and STR, so that it's MAG (0) and STR (3). As a city elf, my DEX goes up to DEX (3). I'm choosing PER (Seeing) as a focus, and pursuing the Warrior class.

Ties: Rothas felt an immediate rapport with both Grapthor and Bray, sympathetic that they're both feeling estranged (lowest caste from dwarves, shunned from dishonor) in a way he recognzies from growing up in an alienage. I'm not sure why each has found his way to Denerim, but Rothas has grown up here and sees his only way out of obscurity and prejudice is through attaining glory in arms.
