Chapter I: A Ship in Peril

Feb 17, 2019 10:06 am
Returning from what was meant to be a routine checkup on the newly founded colony on Beranus-4, the crew of the Consortium space ship USS Potential finds its crew of 76 slightly diminished. An Earthquake had released noxious gases from below the planet's surface and although the Potential had been successful in saving the colony, three crewmembers were exposed to the gases. While their lives are out of immediate danger they are currently being kept in a medical coma in sickbay until the Potential can reach Starbase 279 where an antidote for the gas' effect is currently being manufactured.

Among the exposed crewmen was Captain Frederick H. Darcy, commanding officer of the USS Potential. In his absence, his newly appointed First Officer, Commander Shawna Cassano, has assumed the captain's duties. With her on the bridge are head of security Lieutenant Commander M1-K3, chief science officer Lieutenant Commander Zephyr Borealis Jr and Lieutenant junior grade Embis Mezron, a fairly recent academy graduate who has temporarily taken over piloting duties for Commander Cassano.

The USS Potential is currently en route to Starbase 279 at Warp Speed, set to arrive in four hours, when Lieutenant Mezron turns towards Commander Cassano and explains: "Commander, we are receiving a high priority distress signal from a nearby system. There is no message attached to the signal."

OOC:
If you need to make any rolls, don't wait for permission, just make them in your post. I trust you with being reasonable about whether you're prepared and/or an expert. If you get Laser Feelings, edit your post to include the question in it.
Feb 17, 2019 6:28 pm
Commander Cassano turned toward Mezron from where she had been standing beside the captain's chair on the bridge. She had yet to sit in the chair since she'd been made acting captain when Darcy had become incapacitated. It was silly, of course; she'd sat in the chair many other times when she'd had the conn - most of the senior officers had done so. But this was different. Since she'd made the decision to take her career's upward mobility seriously, every action seemed pregnant with significance and rife with potentially bad consequences.

Plus, she had a more than sneaking suspicion that she might actually not be up to being a real captain. Because she knew that she should relay the distress signal to other fleet starships in the vicinity for investigation and continue on their way to Starbase 279 to get their injured crew members properly treated. That was protocol. That was the responsible thing to do. It's what Captain Darcy would do, and she wanted, really and truly wanted, to be more like Captain Darcy.

"Adjust course and take us toward the distress signal, Lieutenant," Cass said.

God damn it!
Feb 17, 2019 9:22 pm
Without prompting from Commander Cassano, I begin a long-range sweep of the upcoming system, searching for signs of life.

I really wish I could be in the sickbay right now helping to develop an antidote. Witnessing the effects of a newly discovered gas on humans seems like a truly fascinating experience. But I am needed here on the bridge, now maybe more than ever. Until the Commander gets comfortable at least. Yet again, the thought of making a few jokes about a gas being expelled from Beranus sounds rather appealing as well.

Turning from my station on the bridge I say, "With all due respect Commander, I hardly believe your first course of action as acting Captain should be to head toward potential danger." A subtle smirk passes over my face, "I completely support your decision of course."
OOC:
I don't know if sensing for signs of life is an appropriate time to roll, so I'll do it now and you can tell me. I'd say I'd get 2d6 for that since, I'm an expert. "Prepared" is pretty vague and could be argued as well though. Edit: ugh, failed my first roll haha

Sensing for signs of life in the upcoming system - (2d6)

Zephyr, you complete the sensor sweep just as the Potential falls out of hyperspace into a small solar system: Three planets, circling a red star. Your scan shows no results, there appears to be a lot of interference due to strong solar radiation. Nonetheless, you manage to find the source of the distress signal.

A small trade vessel, not of Space Fleet origin but definitely human in design. You can see that the engines seem to be down, a big chunk of the hull seems to be damaged and it's drifting helplessly in space.
You cannot scan for life signs or energy signals from the vessel due to the interference.

The distress call is still being transmitted automatically from the ship but there is no visible reaction to your arrival.
Feb 17, 2019 10:22 pm
Cass looked down her nose at Borealis, keeping her features cool. Zeph had been a pain in the ass to her ever since she'd taken him to the cleaners in last week's senior staff poker game. She'd wondered how he'd cope with her suddenly elevation to command. Well, now she knew.

In a cool, nearly bored tone of voice, Cass responded, "I'm sure I needn't remind my science officer that in space, virtually every action is a move toward potential danger, Mr. Borealis. Your support is noted, if irrelevant. Initiate every applicable scan - see if you can pick up any clues about potential threats as we make our way toward the source of the distress signal."

To underscore her authority, Cass sat in the captain's chair. Acting captain, she thought sourly. Emphasis on 'acting.'
OOC:
I updated my character profile to make it more informative. I realized that I'd never selected a number for Cass. I chose 3, since she's torn between her feelings-oriented old style and her attempt to embrace a more command-oriented style.

Okay, I see that my post is a bit outdated now, what with Cass telling Zephyr to do something for which he's already got results. Should I amend it?
Feb 17, 2019 10:26 pm
OOC:
That's fine. We can just pretend your post came before Zephyr's. If he wants to respond to it, he just can, otherwise we'll continue after the results of the scan.
Feb 17, 2019 10:29 pm
OOC:
Oh, I was responding to Zephyr's post, but I feel a little silly ordering scans after your post gives the results of the scans.

Yes, that's what I meant. I mistyped.
Feb 18, 2019 3:23 pm
"Aye commander." And I respectfully turn to face my station again. "I'm picking up the source of the signal. A human spacecraft, but not Starfleet. The engines are down, and it has suffered major hull trauma. Strong solar radiation from that nearby red star seems to be interfering with our sensors however. I can't get a direct reading from the ship.

I will see if we have any information in our database on the nearby planets in case we have any records of human life on them."

Knowledge on planets in this system - (2d6)

OOC:
( 6, 4 )

That's zero successes but one Laser Feelings. I'm just going to take "What's there to know about the planets in this system?" as your question, since you didn't specify a different one.

The planets in this system are uninhabited and actually, none of them are even close to being inhabitable. There used to be a mining facility on the planet closest to the star, Gaureos, where the Consortium used to extract titanium but because of the increasing solar radiation in this system, the facility had to be abandoned a few years ago. To Consortium knowledge, the other planets do not possess any useful ressources. After the mining facility has been abandoned, this system has become almost forgotten as there is no real reason for ships to stop by here or travel through it.

I would say, unless there's a reason to assume someone wouldn't, we can just assume, every information gets communicated, in order to speed up play
Feb 18, 2019 5:13 pm
Cass considers this information and the options available to her. Whatever brought this unidentified ship to this system was likely nothing aboveboard. She could change her mind right now, send the information and coordinates to the nearby fleet ships and break off to resume course to the starbase. But if there were any survivors on the injured ship, that might well be condemning them to death.

Plus, she was insanely curious.

"We can assume this ship was not here for legitimate reasons," she said. "We have no idea what we're walking into, so let's proceed with all due caution. M1-K3, have weapons at the ready." As an afterthought, she turned to her security officer and said distinctly, "But only fire on my order."

Facing the main viewscreen, she finished with, "Mezron, take us in a little closer. Let's see if we can discern what's happened here."

Swallowing discreetly, Cass responded evenly, "Good. We'll be targeting weapons and engines only unless otherwise stated."

She forced herself to relax back into the captain's chair as Mezron took the Potential in for a closer look.
Feb 18, 2019 8:33 pm
Mezron slowly navigates the Potential closer to the damaged ship.
Quote:
"Good. We'll be targeting weapons and engines only unless otherwise stated."
There are no visible weapon systems on this ship but you all are aware that looks can be deceiving.

"The ship is in range of our close range sensors now, ma'am!", the Junior Lieutenant explains. You all know that the solar radiation should affect these sensors much less than your standard long range sensors.

Just as Mezron finishes saying this, the distress signal stops. Zephyr, you pick up a different signal now. It appears to be originating from the damaged ship and it seems to not be meant for the Potential as it is aimed out of the system. Your ship's computer appears to have difficulties processing this new signal as it gets displayed on your screen only as a huge chunk of text consisting of seemingly random configurations of only three symbols: F, 2 and V.
Feb 18, 2019 9:27 pm
"Commander, I've received a signal. 'F, 2, V' over and over again. What do think it could mean? I can have the computer continue to decipher whether or not it is some sort of code, but there's always a chance the transmitter has been damaged somehow. We may be here for some time if we wait for it to be unscrambled. If we want to continue on to our primary objective sooner, we may have to go down there. Awaiting your orders."

Zephyr silently hopes he will be sent down to the damaged ship. Even though the crew of the Potential has been through some tough times lately, this is why he signed up. Being a part of the away team has always thrilled him more than any thing else in his Starfleet career. He attempts to hide his enthusiasm, but to those that know him it's evident in his sudden change of demeanor.

This post assumes that Zephyr also passed on the information about distress signal ceasing and the new signal being directed outside of the system prior to discussing the encrypted content. If this is not what was intended, I can rewrite.
"You're not at all concerned that the distress signal stopped as soon as we came within a certain range, lieutenant commander?" Cass asks . "Because this is kind of smelling like a trap. Shields up, MI-K3, and hail the damaged ship. Mezron, is there any other information showing up on the short range sensors about the ship itself?"

"The sensors pick up five life signs, one human, the others unidentified.", Lieutenant Mezron explains. "There are also no weapon systems showing up on the scans. The sensors can't determine the exact damage to the ship but I do not read the signature of an anti-matter chamber so this ship is not equipped to go to Warp speeds. And this is not a result of whatever damaged it. If the anti-matter chamber had been destroyed, nothing would be left of the ship now."

The new signal repeats itself a number of times and then stops as well. There is no response to your hails.

OOC:
Does Cass know whether the solar radiation would prevent the use of the tranporter?
Feb 19, 2019 7:22 am
OOC:
The radiation might interfere a bit but if you boost the signal enough, it should work.
Feb 19, 2019 7:48 am
Cass considered the known facts. Five life signs, one human. A ship that, for some reason, was unequipped with a warp drive, hanging around a system it had no business being in. The bait-and-switch signal act. There were plenty of reasons to delay further action and wait for more information - or to leave the area entirely. They had wounded in need of treatment they could get only at a starbase.

But there were so many questions here, and so few answers. Cass felt the thrill of excitement she always got when things got really risky. She rose quickly from the captain's chair.

"MI-K3, assemble an away team. We're going down there."

M1-K3 stands, though remains connected to the ship's weapons systems. His head rotates to face the rest of the bridge. "Interrogative: May I assume you intend to lead this mission, Commander?"
OOC:
Heh, I was wondering if anyone would call me on that!
M1's query brought Cass up short. The answer was yes, she had intended to lead the mission, because she generally did lead such missions when Capt. Darcy had the conn. Of course, Capt. Darcy rather prominently did not have the conn at the moment.

She did. And it was wildly inappropriate for the acting captain to go gallivanting off on away missions instead of staying behind and, well, acting like a captain.

"Of course I don't, M1," Cass said. "I said 'we're going down there' to mean that we, collectively, will be exploring the situation." She felt fairly sure she'd kept the disappointment out of her voice and facial expression as she said it.

Clearing her throat and lacing her fingers behind her back, she said, "You're leading the mission. Take a team of four, armed with phasers. We want to make contact with the people on the ship, but keep in mind that they probably lured us here. That doesn't mean execute them on sight; if things go south, I'd prefer live prisoners who can give information to corpses who can't." She paused, glancing at Zephyr. "Take Borealis, too. Zeph, you're there to assess the computer systems on board and figure out where that outbound signal is aimed."

She'd made her way back to the captain's chair now and grudgingly sat down again. "Good luck," she said. She was pretty sure it didn't sound sullen.
Feb 20, 2019 5:36 am
M1-K3 and Zephyr, you assemble a team of security officers and meet them at the transporter room. After a short period of preparations to boost the signal enough for a safe transport, the transporter chief energizes.
You materialize in a medium sized room that appears to have been the bridge of the ship. However, all computers and even the view screen have been removed, except for one small computer near the captain's chair. It appears as if someone has stripped the ship off of all valuable components.

In the middle of the room stands a male human with white skin. He’s dressed in rough cloths and he’s holding a disruptor in his hand. He lifts it and aims straight at your team.

"Drop.. your… wea… pons" His voice sounds pressed and as if he has difficulties speaking.

In the meantime, on the bridge of the USS Potential: Without so much as a warning due to the solar radiation blocking your sensors, three ships jump out of warp, surrounding the Potential. All three ships are of very different designs. Two of them appear to be private space crafts, the third one is definitely Spacefleet.

All three ships’ shields are raised and their weapons are readied.

You receive a communication from the Spacefleet ship – no visuals, only a female voice speaking: "Consortium space ship, deactivate weapon systems and drop your shields. Allow us to board your ship or be destroyed"
Feb 20, 2019 4:24 pm
At the sight of a disruptor in his hand, I raise an eyebrow. Disruptors were known for causing an excruciatingly painful death, tearing the body apart from the insides.

"Hey now, easy friend. We aren't here to harm anyone or steal anything, we are just responding to what we believed to be a distress signal. It seemed to be coming from this ship. Are you in trouble?"

I make eye contact and nod to the rest of the away team in an attempt to communicate that they should stand down for now. I raise my hands, phaser still held, but passively in order to pose less of a threat.

"If you are in need of assistance, we can take you to our ship. What say you?"
OOC:
I will roll Feelings here. I'm new to this system, but I'm trying to establish rapport. Unfortunately this is not my expertise, nor do I feel I'm prepared.

Feb 20, 2019 5:10 pm
"How completely surprising," Cass says dryly, not yet issuing a response to the other ship's demand for surrender. "Potential to away team: report."
Feb 20, 2019 5:51 pm
M1-K3 draws his phaser on the man. "Declaration: You are not a Consortium officer and hold no authority over us. T̸̠̪̭͓̹̫̂ͫ̏H̸ͮ͐ͩ͐͊ͪͨR̘̜̯̻̙̺͛͗͊̆E̝̠̼͙͖ͫ̃͛̿̈́̏̀A̟̐̈ͣ̓T̥̥̪̯͗: Drop your weapon or we will be forced to open fire."

His lights flash yellow when he receives the transmission. "Report: Commander, the ship has been gutted. The only occupant is a human male threatening the away team with an illegal disruptor weapon. Opinion: Commander, I believe this to be an ambush."
Feb 20, 2019 6:01 pm
M1, right after you finish speaking, the man shoots his disruptor at you. He misses due to his hands shaking but the next time, you might not be quite as lucky. The man's face is contorted, as if he is in pain. "Drop... Weapons!", he repeats. He staggers towards you, his shaking finger still on the trigger of his weapon.

Cass, you hear the shot over the communicator. Nobody seems to have been hit but your away team is in danger - and you won't be able to beam them out without dropping your shields. One of the private looking ships moves closer to the broken down ship that your away team is on.
You also receive another hail from the Consortium ship. This time, they request video communication as well.
Feb 20, 2019 6:29 pm
"Defiant Imperative: No. You drop your weapon." M1-K3 rushes towards the man as soon as the shot misses him, knocking the disruptor out of his hands and grabbing him by the neck. "Demand: tell us what is going on here."
Feb 20, 2019 7:13 pm
Hearing the disruptor fire propels Cass from the captain's chair. "Away team: Hold fire if possible. Try to get some answers - remember, there were four non-human life forms showing up on our sensors."

Signalling the crew member manning the security station to open the video channel, Cass faces the viewscreen. "Commander Shawna Cassano in command of the Potential. Who am I addressing?"

OOC:
M1, can you give me a Feelings roll (I would say, expert and prepared both apply) to see how well you do in your charge?
The view screen lights up showing the bridge of a Consortium ship, smaller than the Potential's and matching the outer appearance of the ship in front of you. In the Captains chair, you see an alien woman wearing Spacefleet uniform with the markings of a Captain on her collar: "Commander of the Spacefleet scout ship Potential, this is Captain Ery-An of the USS Sigma. You are interfering with an important Consortium mission. Lower your shields immediately and allow my people to board your ship."
Cass, you notice that the chair next to her where the First Officer would sit is empty. You also notice that Captain Ery-An's uniform collar is slightly damp from sweat.

You charge forward but before you can reach the man, he fires again, hitting your shoulder and burning a hole into it. If you were human, this hit could very well have killed you but fortunately, you are more resistant to disruptor fire than your crewmates. You grab the man by his throat and he, shocked that you are not dead, drops the weapon to the ground. "It... too late... for you..." he manages to say with audible difficulty. His eyes seem barely focused on you as if he is only half aware of what's going on
Feb 20, 2019 8:58 pm
Cass gives a nod of respect to the figure on the screen. "My apologies, Captain. We had received no communications regarding Consortium activities in this area. Of course, we are eager to comply with the needs of your mission. If you could be more specific as to its nature, that would be helpful. We're also in possession of a surplus of particle filtration nubs, should you require them."

She added the last sentence with no change in inflection or expression, but she watched Captain Ery-An's response to it carefully, since it was a command-level code seeking confirmation that the officer was being forced to act under duress. If the captain responded that the Sigma was fully stocked with particle filtration nubs, the answer was no, there was no duress. If she responded with anything that indicated they weren't fully stocked, then she was indeed being forced to act against her will. The nature of that second response would provide guidance on how the Potential could help.
Feb 20, 2019 9:09 pm
"Jeez Mike, be careful. Remember the Commander's orders. Oh and...nice work."

Zephyr moves toward the lone remaining computer terminal and tries to access it.

"Let the Commander know you've apprehended the human would ya? While you're doing that I'll access this terminal and see if I can find any records of what happened here. This guy doesn't seem like he'll cooperate willingly at the moment.

Keep an eye out for those other life forms the sensors picked up,"
I say to the other crew members.

My second roll on the terminal access is because I assume as science officer I'm an expert at that sort of thing. If not, feel free to ignore.

OOC:
@bowlofspinach Do you need me to make a roll for the use of the code?
Feb 20, 2019 9:28 pm
Zephyr, you investigate the terminal and immediately come to the realization that it is not Consortium technology. The symbols on the screen, the interface keys, it resembles nothing you've seen before. You notice one thing however: Anywhere on the screen, the interface, anywhere on the computer, any bit of text is made up of different combinations of the same three symbols.
Without the help of your ship computer you will not be able to analyze this computer further, however, you are confident that with a bit of work and the help of the universal translator, you will be able to get the information out of this [You can save your successes for when you have access to the Potential's computer again]. Suddenly, the ship starts shaking, almost as if it had hit some object.

Cass, the Captain looks at you with unchanged expression. "We are on important business and do no have time to trade for particle filtration nubs.", she exclaims, completely evading protocol for the use of this phrase. "Drop your shields right now, Commander, that is an order. If you refuse, I will be forced to open fire."
Suddenly, Lieutenant Mezron turns around to face you. "Commander, one of the ships has locked a transporter beam onto the damaged ship that has the away team on it."
Feb 20, 2019 10:10 pm
"Open a channel to that ship," Cass orders sharply. "Unknown vessel, be advised that USS Potential crew are aboard the disabled ship. Any unauthorized transport of my crew will be regarded as an act of aggression."

Making a subtle cutting gesture across her throat to signal ending all outbound audio, Cass asks, "With the solar interference, can we get an assessment of the weapons on the Sigma and the other two vessels?"
Feb 21, 2019 6:00 am
Ensign Carter, who took M1's place at ops starts working on his console. He takes longer than M1 would but after a moment, he responds: "They are all equipped with phasers, the Sigma has photon torpedo bays but I do not register any photon torpedoes on board. I cannot tell if that is because of the radiation or not. All three ships weaponry is inferior to ours but combined, they might pose a threat to us.

After cutting the communication, the view screen changes back to show the situation outside. The trade ship is still attached to the derelict ship by transporter beam and is in fact pulling it closer to itself. You notice that there are mechanical clamps at the bottom of the trade ship. It appears as if they are trying to attach themselves to the derelict ship.

Carter speaks up again: "Captain, I mean Commander, the Sigma is locking their phasers on us. They're going to open fire!"
Feb 21, 2019 6:37 am
OOC:
I'm going to assume from that last post that, in this instance, "transporter beam" refers to a tractor beam, which is physically pulling the other ship, not a beam that is attempting to break down the people on the ship into disconnected molecules and reassemble them somewhere else.
"Lock phasers onto the trade ship's tractor beam generator," Cass barks. "I want to make sure they can't grab that ship while our team is on board."
Feb 21, 2019 11:57 am
OOC:
Yes, tractor beam, sorry
The bridge gets shaken as your shields get hit by a phasers beam.
"Shields at 80%", explains Lt. Mezron.
Ensign Carter says: "Phasers locked on tractor beam, Commander. Ready to fire!"

Away team, the ship you're on gets shaken. You recognize its movement as being caused by a tractor beam.

Zephyr looks at M1-K3 with a feeling of unease. This is not good. He taps the insignia on his chest, "Away team to Potential...we have apprehended the human, but the derelict ship seems to be experiencing unexpected vibrations. There is no power here, so it can't be the ship's engines. What's going on out there?"
Feb 21, 2019 3:16 pm
OOC:
I don't know if that's how it's supposed to go but I'm going to roll another die for the bridge crew helping you, Cass. So far, it doesn't look too great.
OOC:
That is a partial success, and a Laser Feeling, so you can ask a question, Cass
You watch the phaser shoot out and hit the trade ship right where the tractor beam starts and the energy stops abruptly, freeing the derelict ship right before it can get clawed by the trade ships clamps. However, by focusing too much on the shooting, you neglected your defense against the other two ships. Very quickly, you get hit by two phaser beams from both sides.
"Shields at 40% and dropping.", Lt. Mezron exclaims. You can hear a hint of panic in her voice. It is rare that a scout ship like the Potential gets into open fire fights and she hasn't been on this ship for long, yet.

Away team, the ship gets shaken again, harder and more abruptly than before. A few pipes burst in the wall of the bridge and release hot steam into the room. The brittle ship is still holding but you are unsure how much more it can take before the hull breaches.

RC, you are working on maintaining the shields in the engineering section when right next to you, a console explodes and Ensign Charles Davis, a long-time Spacefleet member who has been on the Potential since before you who is always reliable but has no aspirations to rise in rank, gets abruptly thrown backwards. He's alive and not severely injured. The shields are holding so far but another hit like this and there won't be any guarantees.

Dr. Zlam, it was supposed to be your day off after your intense work on saving the colony on Beranus-4 but the sudden ship to ship combat that broke out with almost no warning forced you to stop whatever you were doing in your free time and to return to work early. As you arrive at sickbay, you find your colleagues busy with some minor injuries. So far, nothing serious has occured but you know that it is just a matter of time in these situations. There are a lot of ways people can hurt themselves on a spaceship under fire.

Bridge Crew Firing - (1D6)

(2) = 2

Feb 21, 2019 3:59 pm
OOC:
According to my game sheet, I get to ask a question and then potentially change my action and roll again?

My question is: What's really going on here?
Feb 21, 2019 4:05 pm
OOC:
Yes, that's true, you're right. You can change your action.
Laser Feeling - This is an ambush, set up to capture a Consortium ship. Captain Ery-An is not acting under her own free will.
OOC:
If that knowledge changes your decision to fire, let me know and I'll redo my previous post to fit with what you want to do next. Sorry, I forgot about that rule.
Feb 21, 2019 4:12 pm
Moira, a more a veteran than not, herself, has been spouting creative expletives since she felt the ship drop out of hyper drive. The explosion is the last straw, and she shouts at the bridge through her comm.

"What in blazes are yeh doin' to mah ship?? A wee warnin' would'a been nice!

She respects Davis enough to know he can handle himself, and instead turns her energy to the shields.
OOC:
Not sure how this'll work, but I'm going to roll lasers with Expert to determine if that console can wait, and then Feelings (intuition) with Expert to determine a priority order for fixing the shields. I figure Moira's been here a while.
OOC:
Well that was painfully mediocre! This is what I get for multi-tasking, eh? XD

Rolls

Lasers - panel importance - (2d6)

(14) = 5

Feelings - shield insights - (2d6)

(16) = 7

Feb 21, 2019 4:26 pm
OOC:
I'm not sure if Feelings would be the right choice to choose a priority order but since you rolled 1 and 6, it doesn't matter anyways.
Quote:
Lasers - panel importance -( 1, 4 )
All consoles down here are fully customizable and there are some redundancies in place just for a situation like this. Any important actions Davis was performing at his station can be rerouted to other stations. The bigger problem is his injury.
"Permission to go to Sickbay?", he asks. Although the injury does not appear particularly dangerous, his hands are burned and he seems to be in pain. You need all the help you can get down here and you know that if you ordered him to stay and help, he would.
Quote:
Feelings - shield insights -( 1, 6 )
Your quick scan of the ship's internal sensors tells you that there's a coolant leak that is rapidly draining power from the shields. You could either close an airlock to stop the coolant from leaking into other parts of the ship and doing more damage but that would put a heavy burden on the shields. Or you could send one of your people down there to try and fix it. If they succeed, that would restore a whole lot of energy to the shields and give you a much better chance in this fight - However, if the shields receive another heavy hit while they are near the leak, there is a serious chance they could die.

There are a lot of ways people can hurt themselves on a spaceship under fire.
Malbo arrives in sickbay, very quickly scrubbing down and applying his medical outfit, which consists of a thicker germproof suit, gloves, his medical scanner, a surgical bag with a variety of medical tools, and a neck unit that keeps his skin at the required moisture levels for a Nemurlian under stress, as he has no sweat glands to cool off.

"Not good" he says and he walks urgently through sickbay, checking the status on every cryo pod and medical tank as he passes through. He immediately exits the far end of the sick bay, and begins walking towards the bridge, stopping to check any crew that are injured in the hallways.

"No free time. Bad for stress levels of crew." he notes to himself. "High Stress. Many Mistakes." He says matter-of-factly to nobody in particular.

He taps the badge on his uniform. "Bridge. Zlam. What happened?" he says, taking on a more serious tone, but definitely not an authoritative one.

OOC:
Okay, I'm changing my action, so this is going to get confusing, with there being several posts now after my original action. Steady as she goes, folks.
"Return fire on the Sigma, targeting their weapons," Cass orders. "Set a course out of this system and engage at Warp 3."
OOC:
Rerolling now: Lasers, prepared.

Lasers - (2d6)

(23) = 5

Feb 21, 2019 5:05 pm
OOC:
Cass, you got another Laser Feeling. Do you want to know anything else?

Don't worry about the confusion, I'll handle it once I know what your final action is. If you decide not to change it again and to retreat, are you going to leave the away team behind? You can't beam them back without dropping your shields.
Feb 21, 2019 5:13 pm
OOC:
Holy crap, I did get another Laser Feelings! My next question is, who is really behind all of this?

Cass' goal, if I decide to stay with this action, is to get out of the system so that she can send a message to Spacefleet about the situation. Cass doesn't want to abandon the away team unless the alternative is letting the Potential fall into enemy hands. So she wouldn't be just flying away, but trying a strategic retreat to regroup.
Feb 21, 2019 5:24 pm
Laser Feeling - You have heard of increasing attacks by space pirates in this quadrant. A number of ships has been destroyed or stolen here in the past months. Rumors say the pirates are gathering under a "Pirate Queen" but the events in this star system tell you that that is not all. These pirates must be working with an alien species so far unknown to the Consortium.
Feb 21, 2019 5:30 pm
OOC:
Interesting. So for my current action, I have a failure, correct?
Feb 21, 2019 5:31 pm
OOC:
A partial success, just like with your first action
Feb 21, 2019 5:49 pm
Malbo enters the bridge after a short march through the halls and corridors, tending to anybody who was injured from the fire.

He steps through the doors without asking permission to step on the bridge. Not out of defiance, but out of urgency, and begins passing his medical scanner over each and every crew member, talking mostly to himself as he reads the data.

He eventually reaches an injured crewman, and stops, placing his scanner o the console and pulling some medicated patches designed to alleviate impact pains and minor injuries.

"Minor fractures in left rib. Tetramorphine 200 milligram patch. Good for pain. Suggests rest, possibly X-ray." he says aloud, yet still seemingly to himself. As he finishes applying the patch to Ensign Davis, he looks up and around himself, taking a moment to examine his surroundings and realizing he had entered the bridge. He turns to the acting captain and asks "Commander, permission to enter bridge?".

Ah sorry, i thought that was who took over for M1-K3 at the security console. Ill rename the person to something that would fit general crew.

Moira rolls her eyes. Never a good sign when the cap'n doesn't reply.

She sees Davis's hands and replies rudely, trying to cover up that his injury actually startled her.

Well, yeh sure as the violet sun aren't any use to me here! Git!

She takes a moment to compose herself. She hates the thought of sacrificing a team member, but if the alternative is losing the entire crew?
She leaps onto a table. Well, hops. Her husky frame results in a startling "THWUMP."

Oi! Leak in tha coolant line in sobsection 5! We need someone brave ta go plug it up, or we'll lose tha entire ship!

She gins widely with her go-to mix of motherly pride and pure insanity.

An' I can personally guarantee yeh that you'll either get a week a' leave and a bottle o' yer choice, or I'll personally recommend yeh for the Void Medal 'a Honor. Ye'll be a hero either way!

A posthumous award. She was hoping in the chaos nobody would remember that.

Phew. Okay, well, Not sure if this is too specific, but, based on the bloops and bleeps happening, is this a normal break, or can I tell if
I need my special tool kit for it? I may switch to going myself if it's bad.
Feb 21, 2019 6:09 pm
Laser Feeling - The breach is nothing quite out of the ordinary. It's slightly dangerous to do the repairs manually while the ship is running but unless the ship gets hit very hard while you're working on it, you don't expect any further complications.
OOC:
I don't know what Cass' final choice is about staying in the fight or retreating but if she chooses to retreat, you should be safe to repair the leak
Feb 21, 2019 6:20 pm
OOC:
FYI, the "captain" isn't answering because, technically, none of this other stuff has happened yet for her. ;)

I'm sticking with my original action and hoping for the best. Returning fire on the Sigma and leaving the system at warp 3.
Feb 21, 2019 6:37 pm
OOC:
Okay, I'm going to sort some of the happenings in this post because the timeline got a bit confusing.
The Potential's phasers hit the Sigma directly, draining their shields a lot, but not completely. Almost at the same time, the Potential gets hit by two phaser beams, dropping its shields to 40% and causing a leak in the coolant. Ensign Davis gets blasted by his exploding console and sent to sickbay by RC. Dr Zlam arrives at the bridge and starts treating injured crewmen there.

Cass gives the order to retreat out of the system. Lt. Mezron sets a course and you enter Warp 3.

Moira, since the combat is over, it should be safe to fix the leak now.

Away team, you lose contact to the Potential [Cass, did you explain the situation to them beforehand?]
OOC:
Sorry for the messy post. It's my fault for forgetting that Laser Feeling allows to change your action. Won't happen again.

Honestly with laser feelings changing your rolls it can make some of the previous posts very confusing. I think we should start editing posts that we choose to change using laser feelings. Even if that means just putting a [LF] at the front of the post or something.

Yes, thanks for mentioning that. I had intended to have Cass tell them they were leaving the system and to submit to capture if it came to it. (She made a point of saying that so that M1 wouldn't get the away team killed making a last stand.)

The problem was that I had already continued the plot and others jumped on that before the change was decided so that led to some posts out of continuity. Overall, I would say not much has changed. Just the order of actions had to be adjusted a bit.

I think that will be about it for the first chapter. You can keep going with some character interactions here for now and I want to do a bit more with the away team before closing this thread and then I think I'm going to start off the second chapter in two separate threads, one for the crew on the Potential, the other for the away team - just for clarity

Away team, you receive a message from Commander Cassano, explaining the situation and ordering you to submit to capture if necessary. Then, your connection breaks and you are alone on the ship: M1, Zephyr, two human security officers, Ensign Debra Myers and Lt. Eric Felt, and the pale man. You also remember that according to your scanners, there were supposed to be five more life forms on board the ship but you haven't seen them yet.

M1, you're still holding the pale man. He has stopped resisting for now but he is not talking to you either. The ship is still steadily vibrating as it is being moved by the transporter beam.

Cass waits, emotionless, until she's told that the Potential has eluded her would-be captors. At that point, she requests a damage report and issues all the right orders for getting repairs underway and injured people to sickbay. She wonders briefly why she doesn't have a first officer to do that sort of thing.

"Send an encrypted message to Starbase 279 about the ambush and our situation. Patch the response through to me in the captain's ready room."

She leaves the bridge after handing the conn to Mezron. Once she's inside the small ready room and the door to the bridge has slid closed, she sinks heavily onto the small couch, leaning forward to place her head in her hands. She runs over the events so far of her first command.

1. She'd abandoned protocol and her designated course to Starbase 279 to investigate a mysterious distress signal, without having sent messages to Spacefleet beforehand.

2. She'd ignored her own instincts when the distress signal ceased and the other signal took its place, sending an away team onto the disabled ship instead of going to red alert and leaving the area immediately.

3. She'd managed to get some important insights into what was really happening, but that hadn't translated into helping Captain Ery-An or her crew, and had entailed serious damage to the Potential. They'd barely made it out of the trap.

4. She'd abandoned her away team to pirates.

5. She'd abandoned her away team to pirates.

6. She'd abandoned her away team to pirates.

She stopped at the third overt repetition, but it played on a loop in the background of her mind.
Feb 21, 2019 8:30 pm
Marbo will head towards the ready room after seeing the captain leave, stopping by sickbay to grab an autoinjector of a nerve relaxing medication to alleviate stress and anxiety.

He rings the bell on the door, and presents himself and the injector openly through to the exterior camera.

"Commander. Zlam. Stress Reducer. Thought you could use it. Made a hard choice. Conscience heavy."

He stands and awaits an answer.

By the time Marbo shows up at the ready room, Cass has moved from the couch to the captain's chair at the desk. She is just staring at the viewscreen, listening to the recriminations of her internal voice, but at least it probably looks like she is a functional commander.

Sighing, she says, "Come." When the doctor steps inside and the door has closed, she says, "Next time, wait until you're inside to offer me drugs, okay? I don't want the crew to start talking about how the acting captain is caving under the stress. They need to believe in me, that I can handle the job." With a look of disgust, she adds, "Whether or not that's true."

She waves a hand to offer him a seat on the couch.

"Potential, come in..." Nothing. "M1K-3, Ensign Myers, Lt. Felt, I think we're stuck here for now. The Commander will be back, she knows what she's doing, we just need to bide our time. That vibration we're feeling is almost certainly a tractor beam. I'm not sure who's pulling this ship in, but we need to prepare ourselves.

"Ensign Myers, you work with M1-K3 to secure the area. You two know how to tactically arrange the situation better than I would in case it comes to a fight. Lt. Felt, you and I will search the ship for these remaining life forms. Pull out your Tricorder, and let's see what we can find."

Zephyr is loving this. The adrenaline rush of discovery is only surpassed by the adrenaline rush of danger. His whole life things always worked out in his favor. Today would be no different, he was sure of it. Now he just felt he needed to keep the others calm, M1-K3 excluded of course. Zephyr has spent enough time as an officer to realize that different people handle stress in different ways. Lt. Felt got a little twitchy when under stress, and Zephyr knew this. That's why he partnered up with him, maybe he could give him a little confidence.

"Lieutenant stay close to me. Last thing we want to do is split the party. Everyone knows that's a recipe for disaster."

Zephyr and Lt. Felt leave the ship's bridge area and head down a neighboring corridor, tircorders in one hand, phasers in the other, and eyes wide open.

Edit: we can save this for the next chapter if you'd like, I just had to type it while it was coming out of my head.

Marbo moves to the seat, still holding the autoinjector in his hand.

"Apologies. Marbo forgets. Humans Stigmatize medicine.

He looks up from the autoinjector towards the commander.

"Regardless. Crew still faithful. Strong leadership. Hard calls. All would perish otherwise. Marbo believes."

He returns his gaze to the autoinjector, then looks back up at the commander inquisitively, holding it out towards her.

"Stress levels high. May cause high blood pressure. Migraines. Fainting. Recommend you administer injection to forearm soon. Fainting in front of crew no better for inspiring hope."

MArbo pauses again, staring off into space for a moment before snapping back to it. He looks unnerved, almost anxious.
Feb 21, 2019 9:12 pm
"Okay, yeah. You're right," Cass says, rubbing her face with her hands. She stands up and offers her arm for the injection, saying, "Hit me," before noticing Marbo's sudden change in demeanor. "Oh, great. What now?"
Feb 21, 2019 9:22 pm
"Nothing significant. Marbo worries. Away crew stranded. Alone. Marbo terrified of loneliness."

He applies the autoinjector to the commanders arm and pulls the trigger. A quick pinch followed by a rush of endorphins as the stress seems to melt away fills her up.

Zephyr, you lead the Lieutenant down the corridor, following the life signs picked up by the tricorder. They are weak and although your tricorder can't identify the species, you are almost certain the lifeforms are dying.

The ship is small, made even smaller by the large number of rooms that are blocked off due to hull breaches, so it doesnt take long for you to reach the life signs. They are located behind a small door that is labelled "Cargo Bay C".

You open the door carefully, inspecting the room from the door to determine danger when you see the lifeforms: A group of large creatures, not quite Earth cows but very close to them in appearance. They are completely white, their skin appearing translucent in some places, and they are lying on the floor of the cargo bay, seemingly sick and in pain. When one of them spots you, it let's out a drawn out, deep sound unlike any animal you've ever heard.

Suddenly, the ship shakes violently and a loud screech vibrates through the entire ship. This is not just a tractor beam - The ship made physical contact with something.
There are a few seconds of silence, then a mechanical voice sounds through all hallways in the derelict ship: "Consortium officers, your ship has abandoned you. You are outmanned and outgunned. You will be taken into custody. If you surrender, you will not be killed."
OOC:

Breathing a deep sigh as she relaxes for the first time since Captain Darcy became incapacitated, Cass leans back and again waves Marbo to sit down. "Don't worry too much about the away team. It’s a good thing we got outa....that.

She dismisses Chet and heads to the bridge. Something probably went wrong up there. Needs fixing. When she arrives and sees the carnage, she sighs, but her eyes are drawn to the empty captain’s chair. She looks at it, full of determination, and with a swift motion...

....greases the pivot base. Coherent or not, Captain Darcy would not appreciate a chair that didn’t swivel.

Sorry I’m lagging! I was running a rehearsal.
Moira takes a squirrelly young man, Chet, with her. She was never one for formal titles when there was work to be done. Knowing they were or of harm’s way, she headed to sub sector 5 to make the repairs.

Where is everyone? Sonofa- I will not be the ranking officer in this room.
OOC:
LOL! Don't worry, you're not. Lt. Mezron has the conn. You may even be swiveling him around in the captain's chair! :D

"Capable. Yes. But threat unknown. Three ships. Ambush. Why?"

Marbo continues talking without actually directing it anywhere, sort of just out for anybody to respond to.

"Also. Marbo holds up his medical scanner, showing the commander the suit sensor data of M1-K3. Captured right before warp. Injury. Rotator cuff. Could be serious.

Marbo holsters his scanner again, and begins to fidget with the auto injector, which is now empty.

"Marbo does not wish to concern you. Marbo should be quiet."
Cass give him a tired smile. "Don't you dare. I need all the facts if I'm going to improve my decision-making. So Mike got hit by that disruptor blast I heard over the transmission. Well, probably better him than one of the others."

She thinks in silence for a while before continuing. "And it's four ships, actually, not three, if you count the one they used as bait. My guess is that they trapped the Sigma using that same ploy, and then forced the captain to help them snare another Consortium vessel. Probably looking to nab successively larger ships with more powerful weapons.

"The question is - why?"

Marbo ponders on the thought for a moment before chiming up.

"Ransom? Pirate Fleet? Perhaps... Check database. Missing Consortium vessels? How many. Location of Disappearance?

Marbos look of worry gets significantly worse as he thinks of a fleet of pirates with consortium vessels.

"Not known for ransoms. Execution more likely.
Marbo says as he takes a minute to think.

"Idea!" He shouts excitedly, standing up and speaking in Nemurlian extremely quickly whilst waving the empty autoinjector about, gesturing at it and moving it about the air.

Sighing, Cass hits the comm button. "Cassano to Engineer Bruce. Moira, check out the universal translator. Seems to be glitching." She ends the transmission and turns back to Marbo. "Okay, calm down and start over. Try not to short out the translation system."
Feb 21, 2019 11:41 pm
"Apologies. Marbo had idea. Strong mood stabilizers. Muscle Suppressants. Mixed with sleep aid. Deploy in air vents. Would take one man. Maybe two. Install through exterior mainenance points. Pirates sleep. Reclaim all vessels."

Marbo stops, working out some equation in the air ahead of him. tracing his fingers through the air and adding up numbers.

"Yes. Should work. Low risk. Marbo can create the gas. Thoughts?"

Commander! Yer alive! Whatever yeh did to mah ship, she’s fine now, yer welcome. Stressful day I’d imagine! Remind me to bring yeh some Carlenian Whiskey. Aged 15 cycles, finished in Carlenian Wolf husks. Lovely peaty flavor. Which is impressive, since Carlenia is an ice planet, and not known for peat bogs.

Cass and Marbo both wince - it's so loud.

"Yeah, sorry about the damage, Moira. Great job as always at bringing her back to good as new. As for the whiskey, I can't stress this enough - I'm in. I can't wait to find out what ice peat tastes like. Also, if you're looking for me, I'm in the captain's ready room. Cassano out."

Returning her attention to Marbo, Cass tried again. "I think the gas is a great idea, Doc. The obvious issues are access and dissemination, but first things first. Get started on making the gas, and let me know if you need additional resources. As soon as I hear back from Spacefleet, I intend to get our crewmen back."

"One man. Outside maintenance ports of their ship. Shouldnt even set off sensors. Can be pumped from aerosol canisters. Co2 pressure. Should work. Marbo ppulls out a datapad and begins typing furiously, and wanders off without saying another word towards the medbay.

Anybody he passes hears him mumbling about ratios and possible dispersal systems.

As he gets to the medbay doors he stops and pings the coms to engineering.
"Engineering. Zlam. Need machine. Sending schematics."

Marbo sends a rudimentary drawing of a gas dispersal system to engineering, covered in notes that are nearly indecipherable.
Feb 22, 2019 1:38 am
Moira knocks on the door.

Commander? What did yeh just sent to mah folks? They cannae read it.
Feb 22, 2019 1:49 am

"Engineering. Zlam. Addendum to last request. Need Plasma torch."
Feb 22, 2019 1:54 am
Moira lets out a hearty laugh.

And ye’ll have it, Doctor! Oi, Commander, where’s Zephyr and Mike?
Feb 22, 2019 2:03 am
Cass looks up again, startled. She shouldn't be, really - she knew as well as the rest of the senior staff how Moira approached her job with a kind of tunnel vision.
OOC:
@lavtodd: How close is Moira to Mike and Zephyr? Is she going to take the news badly?
Feb 22, 2019 2:13 am
OOC:
She’s fascinated by Mike and greatly appreciated Zephyr’s attitude. But she’s also got enough sense not to chew the "new kid" (you) out.
Feb 22, 2019 2:20 am
"They were leading the away team on the bait ship," Cass said matter-of-factly. "We weren't able to retrieve them." She waits a couple of beats before adding, "But we will."
Feb 22, 2019 2:26 am
Moira nods and somewhat too aggressively clasps Cassano’s shoulder.

Aye. I see what’cher doin’ there, Commander. Didn’t reply so my men in the engine room didn’t panic. Wise move. Well!

She pulls out a flask from her right shoulder strap.

Ta not findin’ our our friends and coworkers are brutally murdered by hostiles!

She takes a swig and passes it to the Commander.

Yeh’re far more fun than Darcy, Lass.
Feb 22, 2019 2:31 am
Cass accepts the flask with a wry smile, holds it up in slight toasting position, and says, "High praise," before taking a drink.
Feb 22, 2019 2:42 am
Just dinnae panic. If yeh wouldn’t do it yer self, yeh can’t ask yer men ta.

She straps the flask back in.

Like I said. Peaty. Well, ah’m off to give the good doctor a plasma torch!

She salutes and heads for the sick bay, via the engineering corridor. Hopefully Davis is doing all right, too.

bowlofspinach says:

OOC:
Zephyr, M1, it would be great if I could still get your reactions to this announcement. Everyone, feel free to keep going in this thread until I post the Chapter 2 threads tomorrow.
Zephyr looks at Lieutenant Felt to gauge his reaction. Lieutenant Felt looks back at Zephyr tentatively as though he's awaiting orders.

"Let's investigate this room first. It will be a moment before they get here if they board the ship. I'm sure we can talk our way out of this if M1 doesn't shoot first. Not to mention the fact that the Commander told us to submit to capture if needed. Nothing to worry about." Zephyr taps his communicator, "M1, we have located the lifeforms in Cargo Bay C. I believe the ship has stopped moving. We are going to investigate briefly and then make our way back to you. Borealis out."

Zephyr and Lt. Felt silently make their way into the cargo bay, waving their tricorders in front of them as they go. These creatures may need help, they may be valuable, or they may give us a clue to what's going on here. But most importantly, Zephyr has never seen this species before! This is an opportunity that can't be passed up.

"Now what do we have here..." he says as he begins to look over the injured creatures with the unbridled enthusiasm.
Feb 22, 2019 4:13 am
"Dramamine. 400 milligrams. Diluted cyanide, 400 mg, with counteracters to prevent death. Tetrahydracannabidiol, extracted from terran plant "cannabis", 1500mg. Friendlies require respiratory protection before contact. Dioxyethalate steroid should reduce side effects instantaneously if administered by Injection. Crew should carry autoinjectors in case of seal failure."

Moira walks in to see Marbo bent over a fumehood chamber mixing into a pressurized cylinder, while at the same time dictating to the interns the other requirements of the task.
Its the most anybody has ever seen him talk out loud, but he seems absent from the world around him. As soon as moira reaches the fume hood he extends one of his four arms without looking up.
"Thank you. Now please step back. Morbos work is dangerous."

I'm glad to see there was so much activity and roleplaying even while I'm gone. Everyone seems to have gotten really into it. Let me try to work through what happened.
All the rolls that have been made appear to have been successful, so that's good. Please remember to post under your characters name, especially when making rolls, so I can see the target number. It's also just nice to see the name and character portrait.

Moira, I would assume you're higher ranked than Lt. Mezron. You could very well have been the highest ranking officer on the bridge.
Zephyr, you scan the creatures with your tricorder. The information it displays immediately doesnt tell you too much. They are very similar to cows in genetic structure but there are some key differences. For example, these animals lay eggs to reproduce and while they can eat grass, their digestive system is better equipped for processing fruit. They also most likely live underground on their homeworld as their lack of melanin or pigmentation would make exposure to solar radiation very dangerous to them.
The creatures do not have any open wounds and due to their unknown biology, the tricorder can't pinpoint their disease. Maybe if you had access to a real computer with this data, you could figure it out
Feb 22, 2019 7:00 am
From the ready room, Cass hits the comm button. "Cassano to Mezron. I'd like you to compile a list of any disappearances of Consortium vessels within the last few months. Then expand the search to include private human vessels. I'm trying to see if these pirates have been at this for long, and how successful they've been."

She waits for him to acknowledge the order before asking, "Any response from Spacefleet from our message? "

She knows he would have patched it through to her if there had been, but she's antsy to hear back from them, to get the orders to go find the pirates and bring them to justice, to rescue her crewmen.
OOC:
Do I need to roll for this?

That roll wasn't the best. You'll still get the basic information as there would be no difficulty accessing that, however, you won't get any additional information you might have been able to dig out otherwise:
In the time between chapter I and chapter II, Cass has received the information she had asked Lt. Mezron for. This sector of space has always had some pirate activity in it but it really started picking up four months ago. Since then, about three dozen privately owned spaceships have been reported stolen or missing in this area.
Even more shocking, in the same time frame, there have been three incidents involving small Consortium ships in this sector. Ten weeks ago, the USS Verdun, which matches the description of the ship you had assumed was the USS Sigma, was attacked by pirates. The ship’s warp core got damaged and the crew had been forced to evacuate the ship. They did not get pursued but when Spacefleet returned later, they did not find a wreckage.
Three weeks later, the actual USS Sigma, a similar but not identical model to the Verdun, was destroyed very close to your location. According to the reports, the entire crew, including Captain Ery-An, were killed.
Another week later, a small fleet of pirate ships attacked a convoy of trade ships led by the USS Antarctica, a Solar Class starship, much larger and better armed than even the Potential, which is well-known for being especially well armed for its size. The Antarctica succeeded in beating back the attack but one pirate ship had managed to attach itself to a convoy ship that was carrying almost a dozen Void Crystals and took it with it into Warp.

Lt. Mezron was unable to find any hint as to the location of the pirates’ hideout or the identity of the rumored Pirate Queen.

OOC:
Sorry, I had one more thing to do before we moved on.
Cass reads the report and ponders for a moment.

The monitor next to you lights up and shows the Captain's personell file. She had a successful career, joining Spacefleet Academy a bit later than most cadets but catching up quickly and graduating with almost perfect grades. She joined the crew of the USS Sigma right out of academy where she quickly rose through the ranks, finally taking over captain's duties on the Sigma after the death of the previous captain. Although this is not standard protocol, Spacefleet allowed it because of her crew's noted respect for her.
The file finishes with a note of her death in active duty - a casualty of the USS Sigma's destruction.

Looking at the photo attached to the personell file, you definitely recognize her face from your encounter before, so it is the same woman - with one key difference: The woman you had talked to during the battle had completely white skin while this photo showed the captain's skin as a pale red.

"Commander. Zlam. Gas complete. Small problem. Only enough for 2 of the ships." Marbo states over the communicator.

He heads towards the decontamination room, and begins scrubbing down, afterwards he goes to his office, opens the locker there, and begins to don his space suit.

Once he is fully dressed in the custom space suit, and has One of the tanks of the gas strapped to his back across his shoulders, he picks up the second tank using his lower arms and heads to the bridge.

Feb 22, 2019 4:38 pm

No, you're still in the approximate area but far enough that there's no chance they could just find you if they were searching for you. For now the encounter is over.
