Hey, Shatner's coming to our Comic-Con too. He must be doing the rounds this year.

Oh Wow! And the guest list sounds sweet, too! Have you ever been to C2E2 in Chicago?
Mar 18, 2019 1:03 am
Not I. Have only been to Kansas City and Dallas conventions.

Nice. I'd imagine those are even bigger than what I saw at McCormick place!

I've lived in Portland for a decade and have yet to go to Comic Con even once. They're gonna revoke my geek card eventually.

Hey, I grew up in Portland! Gresham area mostly. My mother lives in Vancouver, my father in Oregon City.

Cool! I love my adoptive city, despite its many flaws. I escaped Indiana to live here.

Late to the discussion but I was in high school in the early 80s and had never played any RPG although I was an avid fantasy reader. Our school put on a D&D tournament and I joined on a lark. I was voted top player in the cleric class. The people running the tourney were about 10 years older than I was but they 8nvited me to join their game. We played weekly for 3 years.
After people moved away I joined another group that lasted about 3 years, weekly again. Then one more long weekly game where we played the whole Dragonlance set of modules.
So I played pretty much weekly for 9 years then 6 months of Shadowrun...but haven't played live since then...wo 25 years or so.

Okay, this is starting to freak me out. I went to graduate school in Indiana (Purdue).

OMG! I spent all but the last ten years living in Terre Haute!
Mar 18, 2019 2:34 am
Which means you can understand the need to escape.

Oh you poor, poor thing. I did 6 years in Indiana, which was about 5 years, 11 months and 3 weeks too many.

I think you're underestimating.

I lived in Sherwood, OR for about 3 years myself. I am in California's SF Bay Area now, though.

Oregonians represent!
Mar 18, 2019 4:37 am
Well, I'm a Washingtonian now, though I don't like to admit it. I'm still an Oregonian at heart.

Well, there's a vibe in the two states that I've always found very refreshing. So hello, fellow Pacific Northwesterner! If you're even down this way, we should meet up for coffee or something. Well, I drink tea, but the sentiment's the same.
Mar 18, 2019 4:47 am
I don't take coffee I take tea, my dear...

As do I, darling.

So, I assume you've never spent time in Oregon. Not like us cool kids?
Mar 18, 2019 5:19 am
No, never. I've only been to the States twice. As a child to New York and a few years ago to Dallas/Fort Worth.
It's a bit far away to visit often.
