Darcy leans over these new schematics. "Let's hope you're right. But those test results do make me a bit more confident in the plan. Good work, doctor. You can take how ever many rifles you need but leave a few intact at least. We won't be able to stock up on them again until we get to another starbase."

@Marbo (this is still in the meeting, before Darcy dismisses you):

A while after the meeting in the stargazing lounge finished, just in time for the scheduled rendezvous, the USS Potential falls out of Warp over Kyndar, the only inhabited planet in the Temran system. Immediately, you are met by the imposing sight of the USS Antarctica, an impressive Solar class starship, more than fifty times the size of the Potential. Its shining and immaculate hull makes it look brand new and even more impressive compared to the much smaller and slightly damaged Potential.
Lt. Mezron brings the Potential to a halt very close to the Antarctica.
Cass, you are on the bridge, Zlam, RC, you are probably also there since the arrival in the Temran system had been announced prior.
Except for the three of you, there’s also Cassandra Darcy, Dr. Mokk and Lt. Mezron present. Without consulting or informing Cass, Darcy has given the order to every other member of the bridge crew to change into dress uniform, so that is what she, Dr. Mokk and Lt. Mezron are wearing. Let me know about the PCs.
Only seconds after you have reached orbit, Darcy speaks up: "Hail from the Antarctica, Commander. Should I put them on the screen?"

RC is in dress waist up. She plans on switching shirts as soon as it's appropriate, but she's already got her tool belt and whatnot situated, so she won't want to mess around with that.Nothin' personal, Girl! I can appreciate fine workmanship!
OOC:
Would I have had a chance to tell Cass? Could I roll Feelings for that?Last edited February 24, 2019 6:07 pm

Telling her wouldn't be a problem but maybe roll to see whether you realize that this is kind of a setup and not actually official orders before you convene at the bridgeFeb 24, 2019 6:55 pm
OOC:
I'm holding off on posting until lavtodd decides whether or not she'll roll.Feb 24, 2019 8:09 pm
OOC:
Yeah our refrigerator splooted water everywhere.
Seeing as I have a "stick up butt" view of the Lieutenant, I'd imagine I'd at least have a hunch. I'll roll with prepared, if that's okay.
Edit: Wellp. Sorry, Commander.

I think you actually succeeded. Your number is 3 and you rolled above it. Right, GM?Feb 24, 2019 8:16 pm

Gamersplane automatically adds the results together. You have to look at the single rolls before that, two 2s, so no success. I guess RC got so caught up in the preparations that she did not pay too much attention to this orderFeb 24, 2019 8:19 pm

Cass has anticipated that her acting first officer would be taking opportunities to undermine her. She couldn't know when and how, but she actually did expect the uniform thing, which is precisely why she is unsurprised when she enters bridge to find members of the crew decked out in their Sunday best, and why she is wearing the standard daily uniform. She makes a point of not appearing to notice the discrepancy as she briskly takes her seat and requests the standard report.
The formalities over with, Cass says to the bridge crew, "While I appreciate the enthusiasm and respect you are all displaying by wearing your dress uniforms, I will remind you that we are not here for a ceremonial occasion. The Potential is not a debutante about to dance with a handsome noble; we're joining forces with the Antarctica to accomplish the serious work of stopping acts of piracy against Consortium ships and rescuing members of our crew. Please keep that in mind."
Cass then resumes the usual minutiae of presiding over the bridge as the Potential nears the rendezvous point. When Darcy Jr. announces the hail from the Antarctica, she says, "Yes, put them on the screen."

Darcy shows no reaction to your speech and puts the Antarctica hail through to the screen.
Immediately, you are greeted by an almost identical mirror image of your bridge, only slightly larger, slightly cleaner and slightly better equipped technologically. In the captain's chair, you see Captain Tulak, looking exactly the same as in the picture in the file. Next to her, her first officer, Commander Lewis Archer. There are other crew members on the bridge, none of whom you recognize right away. None of the people on the Antarctica bridge are wearing dress uniform.
Captain Tulak gives you all a serious look. She puts her right hand on her left shoulder where it remains for a second, the customary greeting of her species. Then she starts speaking, her voice is slow, serious and slightly metallic sounding. "Commander Cassano. It is good to meet you. I apologize for my lack of formality but there is no time for that. We have been briefed about the situation by Admiral DeLeary and informed that you have already devised a plan to recover your crewmates. I would like to beam over to the Potential asap to discuss these plans."

Cass mirrors Tulak's seriousness and returns the greeting gesture out of courtesy and respect. "Captain Tulak, I agree that there is no time to lose. You and your team are welcome to beam over. I've sent you the coordinates to beam directly into Ops."
Feb 24, 2019 9:37 pm
Captain Tulak nods and the connection cuts without any more words said. They're going to get ready and beam over in a few minutes.

Aye. Point taken. Time to work.
RC switches shirts in the middle of the bridge. She has a popular space metal band on her tank top. (Iron Nebula)
To the transporter room!
EDIT: Or maybe she gets her arm stuck in her sleeve. Sorry Marbo.

If Marbo asked, RC would have helped him modify. I’ve included the roll in case bowlofspinach decides he can use it. EDIT: Or maybe she gets her arm stuck in her sleeve. Sorry Marbo.

Lasers- Modifying the rifles into "Dart Guns" - (1, 6)You three and Darcy gather in ops and shortly after, receive a message over comm: "Commander Cassano, the Antarctica is asking permission to beam three people over."
OOC:
Cass, are you going to take the captain's chair or are you leaving it empty for Captain Tulak?Feb 24, 2019 10:52 pm
Before heading to Ops, Cass calls Darcy Jr. into the ready room. "A few hours ago, you thanked me for my trust. Now you've quite deliberately violated it, and for the sole purpose of attempting to embarrass me. That's rookie stuff, lieutenant commander. It's the sort of thing upperclassmen pull on cadets at the academy."
Cass takes a breath before continuing. "Here's the thing, Cassandra. Your job is to ensure that I'm successful. My personal success in this command will directly impact the success of this mission. If I fail, people may die. Our shipmates could die. I had a number of candidates for acting first officer who I knew I could trust without question. I chose you because of your tactical expertise and because you know the regs inside and out. But I won't overlook even the subtlest next act of sabotage. Lives are on the line."
