Then, stepping aside to reply to Cassano privately:

Oi. She’s got a bee in ‘er bonnet, a broom up ‘er rear, an’ half mah Seven Stars down ‘er gullet. Strange lass. Convinced she’s gonna do whatever it takes ta get us back alive. I told her ta save it fer tha holodeck.

She smirks before adding - Tha other 74 ‘a us have no worries. Jus’ keep yer head on. An’ we’ll see yeh on tha other side a this.

"I'm not worried about my feelings," Cass says. "I'm worried about her competence. She was insubordinate on an open comm link; I think that means her judgment is compromised. I can't have her leading a strike team in that condition."

Does Kendall recognize anything about this ship based on the readings she is peering at (she is sort of trying to look at the instruments without causing a scene, so I will say that she isn't "prepared", though her time reading signs on her own ship I would argue makes her an "expert" at scans and readings).

Cass quickly loops Marbo into the comm link. "Dr. Zlam, have you noticed anything about Lt. Comm. Darcy's behavior in the last hour or so? If not, take a quick look at her now. I need a fitness for duty recommendation immediately."

Laser Feeling: You've been patrolling this sector for a while now and you always keep your eyes and ears open. You've heard of a missing trade ship that had a description matching the ship you're seeing on the view screen now. The ship was called The Star Flare and its captain was a Tunemian man by the name of Otin Hudd. He has disappeared with his ship so he might still be piloting it now. Or he might be dead or kidnapped and pirates have taken over his ship.

Kendall speaks up: "Commander, I recognize that ship. It looks like a trade ship that went missing some time ago called the Star Flare, though I don’t know whether it is captained by its old skipper, or if he was murdered by pirates. His name was Otin Hudd, a Tunemian gentleman."

"Commander. Lt. Darcy seems to be experiencing the side effects of several forms of stress and anxiety. Symptoms are typical of adult females of the human race. Both stress and anxiety can be sourced to one collection of personal problems. Her uncle is grievously sick, and his command did not go to her. This has caused chemicals in her brain to trigger a reaction of frustration, but due to position an inability to vent frustration has caused it to create a hormone imbalance. Possible correlation to Pre-Menstrual Syndrome as well, but Marbo is not sure."

Marbo pauses, the alcohol in his system, no matter how little, has relieved his own tension. He smiles for a moment and regains the comms:

Prognosis: Commander, She is sad. Her nearest family may not survive much longer, She didnt get a promotion she has worked very hard to, and on top of everything, she has very few friends amongst the ship. Marbo thinks we should stop the arguing between us, and after the mission, take a brief retreat on one of the resort worlds. Marbo has...

He pauses, quickly adding up his vacation day accrual

"Approximately 11 days of accrued vacation time. He would very much like a massage."

Rolling feelings to see if im completely off base here. If i fail maybe Darcy hears me talk about the Pre-Menstrual Syndrome and gets angrier? 1 for expert (doctor) none for prepared because marbo is not familiar with womens emotions, or really any emotion.

Since Cass requested a medical opinion of an officer's fitness for duty, shouldn't that be a lasers roll?

Edit: Sorry, Robb, not trying to be controlling, but this seems a lot more of a medical assessment than a touchy-feely one, to me.

Moira, you're standing closeby and can see Marbo rattle off his theory on the communicator. What he doesn't notice but you do, is that Darcy is standing very close to him. You can see her face turn slightly towards him as he's speaking, so you're certain she can hear him but with Marbo's fast way of talking, you are unable to react and interrupt him before he's finished giving his diagnosis.
Darcy's face is completely blank. It looks like she's consciously putting in effort to keep it neutral. She closes the gap between her and Marbo and replies with a cold voice: "The captain is my father, not my uncle."

Cass, you hear Marbo's diagnosis over the comm and right after you hear Darcy's reply coming through the same channel.
At the same time, Lt. Mezron speaks up as well: "Commander, the pirate ship - the Star Flare - has come to a full stop, approximately 900 kilometers from the Antarctica."
Kendall and Cass, you're both on the bridge and can see the ship floating motionless above the "wreck" of the Antarctica

I guess you could make an argument for using Lasers but to me, since it's not a medical examination but a psychological, I would use Feelings.
In TNG, I would say this would be Troi's job and she seems like a Feelings character to me.

Cass speaks quickly into the comm. "Lt. Comm. Darcy, you are temporarily relieved of duty. Hand over command of your strike team to the next ranking officer and report to sickbay immediately. Please don't make me have you escorted by security.

"Everyone else, stand by for deployment orders."

She turns her attention to the viewscreen. To Kendall, she says, "Tell me everything you can about the Star Flare and Otin Hudd."

Kendall, there's not much to know about the Star Flare. It's a privately owned ship used for trading and - allegedly - for smuggling. It has minimal shields and only slightly above weapons. You know that the required crew for the ship is less than fifteen people but a lot more would have room in the large cargo hold. Otin Hudd presents himself as a simple trader but there have been rumors floating around that he takes jobs smuggling illegal goods and even life forms. You don't think he's particularly dangerous but he usually had some body guards with him.

Moira, you can see Darcy struggle with herself after receiving Cass' order. She doesn't immediately react but after a while, she takes the sling holding the phaser rifle off her shoulder and hands it to Moira.
"You're making a mistake", she mutters to the engineer. Then she walks off in the direction of sickbay without saying another word or confirming Cass' order.

im pretty sure im still in the same area as darcy and moira right? if not ill edit or delete this post. Also @moonbeam, i thought about lasers too, but i was pretty sure since i wasnt in the sickbay doing a psych evaluation, and more trying to read her mood while interjecting what medical skill i have, it was feelings.

As Darcy walks away from Moira, Marbo will step into her path, all four arms stretched wide and his best attempt at a smile stretched across his Mouth, showing a dental structure more similar to the baleen filter in a whales mouth than an actual row of teeth.

"Lieutenant, would you like a hug?" Marbo asks sincerely, but his tone is clearly a little strained as this is not something he usually does. The fancy liquor he drank earlier is cleary affecting him. Not negatively per say, but he is less wound up. all four of his shoulders are more relaxed, and he seems much more personable than usual.
