OOC:
So I just realized that Hortam asked Cass for specifics on what she wanted him to ask the pirates in the vac suits, and I missed it. Can we retcon that?
Mar 11, 2019 1:21 pm
OOC:
What do you want to retcon? You answered his question, didn't you? But sure, we can. Just tell me what you would say instead
Mar 11, 2019 1:30 pm
OOC:
Heh, you're right, I did answer. Never mind. Looks like an entirely sleepless night has adversely affected my brain function.

To Moira, Cass says, "Could you get Ms. F'brei a communicator? If she's going to be on our ship, she may as well be easily reachable."

She sits in the captain's chair and punches her comm badge. "Cassano to Hortam. Any luck getting that information from the people in the vac suits?"
Mar 11, 2019 2:53 pm
"Commander, I was just about to contact you. They really don't want to talk. One of them told us that the transporters were made to kill them. They said that's why they have to rely on shuttles to get from ship to ship. They are adamant about there being no sickness, just the 'natural decay of organisms'", Hortam replies. "Oh, and while we're talking. We've been trying to access their computers but we can't decipher them. It just looks like gibberish to us. Maybe you should send someone over who knows their way around computers better than we do! And how's Yang doing? Did they treat his arm?"

Kendall, someone hands you a spacefleet communicator.
Mar 11, 2019 3:09 pm
Moira will.

So then. Yer that civvy lass ah'm guessin'? Lieutenant Commander Moira Bruce. Lead Engineer. Tha folks downstairs call me RC, but that's a story best told durin' R&R. Yer keepin' things interestin', ah hear. Havin' fun yet?
Mar 11, 2019 3:20 pm
"Yang is doing fine," Cass tells him. "I spoke with him personally. Tell me - are the guys in the vac suits... still wearing vac suits? Or have they taken them off now that they aren't going to be traveling on the runabout?"
Mar 11, 2019 3:28 pm
"We took their helmets off. They look sick, some of them are white as snow, skin and hair. Doesn't seem to affect them that we took them off!"

Marbo is going to perform tests on the sample of green tissue he t ook from the neck of the pirate, after sealing up the surgical sight and spraying it with a synthetic skin regrower.

He will meet with Belka in the specimens laboratory and begin to perform tests on the tissue to see if he can determine a source.

Marbo, it's definitely a so far unknown alien species, unlike anything you've encountered before. Analysing the structures more precisely, you can determine that the alien that this sample came from was a highly developed parasitic life form. It's impossible to determine more about it just from this sample but you could attempt to clone the original creature which you could then investigate further.

Cass grits her teeth. She is really tired of being jerked around and generally played for a fool. She takes a deep breath and says with an almost unnatural calm to Hortam, "Okay, here's what I want you to do. I want you to tell them that we know that the transporter is detecting an organism in their bodies and removing it, and we want to know what that organism is and why it's there. I want you to ask them why they are kidnapping our people, what they are doing to them, and where they are now. If you don't get straight, productive answers, then I want you to tell them that they are each going to go through the transporter, one by one, until we either get the information we need or we run out of pirates in vac suits."

She pauses briefly before continuing, still in that very calm voice, "Then if they still aren't cooperating, you drag one of them from the room. You take them somewhere else on the ship, remove their vac suit, and confine them in another place. Then you go back to where the rest of them are being held, toss the empty vac suit to the floor like a piece of garbage, and say, 'Who's next?' Rinse and repeat as needed. I want to know what these people are made of, I want to know where my away team has been taken, and I want to know it now. Keep me informed of your progress. Cassano out."

She breaks the connection and notices a number of people on the bridge staring at her. She shrugs. "I grew up with three older brothers," she says, as if that's explanation enough.

Moira smirks. She had brothers, too.

There is a moment of silence before Hortam responds: "Understood, Commander. I'll update you as soon as there's news."

OOC:
MARBO HAS ACCESS TO A CLONING LABORATORY>?!?!?!?!! YOU PROBABLY SHOULDNT HAVE TOLD MARBO THAT!
Mar 11, 2019 5:58 pm
OOC:
Bad Marbo! Stop!

Well, they use cloning stations at least two times during TNG/DS9 to analyze tissue samples. I'm pretty sure a lot of cloning-related things are illegal but for this purpose, I think it should be fine. You should ask your commander, though
Mar 11, 2019 6:09 pm
"Commander.Zlam. Permission to use cloning facilities to study the organisms?"

There isnt even time for her to reach her communicator, before the comm line chimes in again.

"Please. Marbo will trade his vacation days."
Mar 11, 2019 6:22 pm
Upon hearing this request, and the subsequent addendum, Cass just stares into the middle distance for a few seconds. It is really rather fascinating how fast and far things are spiraling beyond all rational projections. And now the spirals are sprouting tangents, which then proceed to - you guessed it - spiral even further. She has a vague impression that life was comprehensible once, that circumstances had a certain logical progression that made something close to sense, but she no longer possesses any direct memories from that time.

She wonders vaguely how long it has been since any of them have slept.

"I'm going to say yes to this," she tells him, enunciating carefully, "but only if you tell me exactly how you plan to use the cloning facilities. I will need explicit assurances that I am not saying yes to the possibility of the Potential being overrun with bouncing baby killer parasite clones, on top of every other problem we currently face. Please give me those explicit assurances, Doctor."
Mar 11, 2019 6:57 pm
"Marbo is unable to offer complete assurance that you will not have babies. he promises to operate the facilities inside the medbay airlock. Things go bad, Belka purges me and the expiriment. Marbo will wear his space suit."

A second passes over the comms.

"Marbo did not intend his sentence to be a doulbe entendre. MArbo meant he will not produce babies... Marbo is going to stop talking."
Mar 11, 2019 7:16 pm
By the time he has stopped talking, Cass is slouching in the captain's chair, fingers steepled and tapping each other in a casual pattern while she stares at the ceiling and nods as if to say, yep, this is all going to be fine, sure, no problem. She sighs and flips both hands palms up in a why not? gesture.

"Okay, go for it. But try really hard not to make blasting you into space necessary, 'kay?"

She suddenly realizes that a low-key fantasy of taking a hit from one of Moira's flasks is running in the background of her mind.
Mar 11, 2019 7:32 pm
Marbo will not risk saying anything else to Commander Cassano, for fear of further embarassment.

He instead tells Belka the plan to move our cloning equipment to the medbay airlock, and have belka watch, through the window, to see if anything goes wrong.

Once they are set up, and marbo is in his space suit, he will enter the airlock with the sample, prepared to go to work.
