Well, I tried. XD
OOC:
Marbo is not a social creature, and he doesnt know the names of anybody who you would actually want to send these to specifically. Honestly, im not even sure what the schematics are for. I just forwarded the email xD
Mar 18, 2019 3:56 pm
Moira's aggressively national music pauses for the polite "ping!" of Marbo's email. She reads it with despair.

He sounds like a Mondavian Prince with a business opportunity...

She comms back to the medbay. She's not sure if Cass hates her, but she should hear.

Thanks, Marbo! Though ah fear they may not know why yeh sent 'em. Is tha prototype workin'?

OOC:
I believe you built the prototype in the engineering area, and marbo has been in medbay trying to fix Commander Cassanos injuries. If you did announce where the prototype was, marbo will send some of his interns to grab it, and bring it to medbay. and then he will get Darcy Jr. to stop what shes doing and put cassano back on the bridge.

OOC:
Moira barged into the medbay with the prototype before the holodeck debacle.

bowlofspinach says:
"Under other circumstances, I would remove myself from duty, but I don't think we have that luxury right now. Lt. Comm. Bruce was the one who sent the message. She sent me some excuse but I haven't listened to it yet. It took all I had to just confine her to her quarters for now instead of blowing her out of an airlock. We're in a crisis situation and if I take myself off duty, the only Lt. Comm. left on board and the next in line for First Officer would be Dr. Zlam. I think we both now why that would not be a good idea."
"Agreed," Cass says. "For what it's worth, I think Lt. Comm. Bruce was worried that things were going to escalate to open combat before we had a chance to offer the parasite aliens an artificial body prototype. What she did was still unconscionable, but I doubt that hurting you was actually her intention." And that was the extent of damage control she had time to do on that front.

"Doctor Zlam has a ridiculous-looking anti-infection suit that will allow me to move around the ship. I'll be on the bridge as soon as I can get into it." She ends the comm chat and Marbo helps her into the suit. While they are doing that, she sends Kendall a comm to tell her she is back in command and that she'd let her know what was going on when she had a better understanding of that herself.

"Marbo, that prototype that Moira brought in earlier? I know you were super-focused on building this suit, but I think you need to install the pirate parasite into that prototype right now. If this can be a viable solution to their needs, it changes the nature of our negotiations substantially. Make getting the parasite into that artificial body your top priority. And thanks for the suit!" She gives him a thumbs-up as she leaves the infirmary and heads straight to Moira's quarters. Nodding to the rather astonished security officer posted outside, she rings the chime and calls out, "Moira, it's Cass. I need to talk to you about your prototype. Let me in."

Oh, shit, just reading the other OOC stuff. Sorry, I'll rewrite a little.

Edited!

Commander?

Moira slams her Murphy bed shut and closes the replicator doors on what she was working on. After about seven seconds of crashing about, she opens the door, in her Iron Nebula tank top, and salutes.

Commander! Ah'm guessin' Marbo gotcheh that. Great. What'd'yeh need?

OOC:
OHH I missed that, i apologize. So much to get caught up on :S In that case Marbo would also like to create a scan of the prototype nad see if the medbay replicator can reproduce the unit as best as possible.

Why are we giving parasitic aliens robotic superbodies... i feel like theyre gonna take this technology and use it against us.

watch, The next campaign will be set 200 years later and we will be fighting the Borg, and discover that their origins trace back to an unassuming little spacefleet vessel known as the Potential for Disaster.

Any vulnerabilities in the hull of that ship that I can see based on the sensor readings?
OOC:
Anything on this front, Spinach?

OOC:
Hey, Doc, if you think it's a bad idea, propose something else! I'm trying to deal with the whole "they're eating us" problem XD
Mar 18, 2019 4:38 pm
OOC:
They can be replicated. The technology is very sophisticated though so each unit would have to be checked for microscopic errors after being produced.

Hero, their overabundance of weapons is putting huge strain on their generators. If you hit the shields in just the right spot, you should be able to create an overload that could possibly blow up their ship. It's a very tricky shot, though

OOC:
Hamster Balls. They can run around in little atmospherically stable hamster balls, and eat the pigment out of paint. Or they can open a galactic chain of laundromats: Slug-o-Whites Insterstellar laundry, we get your stains out no matter what!

Cass suppresses an impulse to wave her straightened arms around saying, Danger, Moira Bruce and steps inside the room, letting the door slide shut behind her. "I need you to tell me, in a nutshell, everything you can about the capabilities and limitations of that artificial body. Darcy turned over negotiations with the pirate ship to Capt. Tulak. I don't know how things are going, but Tulak has a history of taking the hard line when there are hostages on the line, and this situation could easily go sideways in a few minutes. If we have a viable alternative to the parasites taking unwilling host bodies, that could change everything. But I need to know that we aren't offering them bodies that would, you know, give them a huge tactical advantage over races with regular organic bodies. Just tell me that we won't be creating a super-race if we do this."

OOC:
I mean, these aren't actually bad ideas, now that you mention it...
Mar 18, 2019 4:51 pm
OOC:
I think in the limited time all that Moira could have built would be a machine to feed the parasite and to move around, probably not even quickly, and possibly a universal translator. Everything else would take much more time.
Mar 18, 2019 4:52 pm
OOC:
I find it amusing that you are arguing for realism, under the circumstances.
Mar 18, 2019 4:53 pm
OOC:
Marbo would suggest a massive killswitch code that could be broadcast from any frequency emitter in a sector, and would just cause any of the suits in the sector to freeze up, unable to move and unable to open and release the slugs. Sure, the race gets freedom to operate and live, but they need to be controlled if theyre using mankinds resources to be a better stronger man.

Moira scratches her head.

Well, what ah built 'em with isn't that strong. All outdated materials. Basic pincers. Low-grade video an' audio. So gen-1 wouldn't be an issue. Though, now that ah'm thinkin' aboot it, there's nothin' stoppin' 'em from developin' their own stronger bodies down tha line. Oh!

She runs to the replicator.

Replicator. Give me what cheh need ta make calamari and black noodles. Don't butcher anythin'.

She holds the lifeless octopus replica out at the Commander.

If yeh wanna avoid a robot uprisin'. But this is all ah've got.

She pauses.

Or a kill-switch. But ah'm not sure a' tha ethics on that.

OOC:
What are you talking about, Moon? This campaign has been nothing but hardcore realism.
...and some casual threats of genocide here and there

Cass looks at the octopus, then at Moira, back to the octopus, and back to Moira again.

"What the actual hell are you trying to tell me?"
