We should clear up this question before proceeding. Robb, here's your LF, I guess:

I did not think much about this proposal before but now that I have, it can't work. The parasites need a host that's alive and the replicators can't create life. If you found a real, living octopus somewhere, the parasites might be able to take those over but a replicated dead animal won't help them.
OOC:
Okay, robot body it is then. We will see if the robot works, and if not, we will see if they can survive on the surface of a sun, or in the event horizon of a black hole.

Marbo enters the airlock, once the robot and the solitary infected stasis field are in place, he will have the airlock sealed from the inside, one of the security officers waiting, phaser ready, and prepared to hit the PURGE AIRLOCK button that they were told to never ever ever press.

"Greetings, slug man. I am a fish boy" Marbo introduces himself to the alien in the most relatable way possible. It isnt the most friendly, but it gets the facts laid out and gets the hardest part of conversation done.

I will be transferring you into this robot, as an expiriment. If it works, your species will have a body that requires no slaughter of civilized races. If we do not succeed, then your legacy will be written down in the Textbook of Medical Discovery, popular amongst all space fleet doctors. You will be famous either way! What great news. When i lower the stasis field, are you ready to... uhh.. burst from the chest... or however you get out of there, and get into this robot?"

I would like to wait for a ruling from Spinach on my request that we retcon back to Marbo actually RPing the conversation with Cass. I feel like there was not enough time between her leaving sickbay and going directly to Moira's quarters for Marbo to have given all those orders, geared up, and gotten into the airlock and started the procedure.

OOC:
Sure, go ahead. Marbo is still in sickbay, preparing for the transferral when Cass contacts him to talk about Moiras proposal

That works, sorry im rushing myself haha, im trying to cover as much ground as i can during my downtime today. its been pretty busy at work but my lunchbreak should be soon.

OOC:
Thanks, Spinach! And it's okay, Robb. I just don't want Marbo to get needlessly killed off because we had some disordered posts.

OOC:
true. Marbo fears death, but even more he fears a lack of medical discovery!
Mar 18, 2019 7:40 pm
OOC:
So we are going back to Cassanos Comm then?
"Marbo does not believe a dead octopus would provide necessary resources for the parasites to thrive. Live octopus perhaps, but not a dead one.

OOC:
But what is death but the end of all medical discoveries you will ever make?

Cass sighs. It had seemed a little too good to be true. "Okay - other options," she says to both Marbo and Moira. "Is there anything else we can offer this species that doesn't have a likely end result of turning them into a super-race that enslaves the universe?"
Mar 18, 2019 7:52 pm
"Marbo is certain that they could survive in most any species. But we need to find another species. Perhaps a cow, or a sheep..

Marbo pings the Shipwide PA

"All hands, Dr. Zlam. Does anybody have a pet fish they would be willing to contribute to a scientific endeavor?"

OOC:
Marbo, you have one of the parasites in your care. Have you just left it alone so far or have you run any test on it or something?
Mar 18, 2019 8:05 pm
OOC:
I dont think marbo did do any tests on it, because honestly, hes sort of scared of it. He did test one of the bodies at one pointbut im pretty sure that it didnt have a parasite anymore thanks to our transporters.
Marbo will take the infected over to one of the surgical tables and attempt a full body scan using the bulkier high frequency scanner.
OOC:
I got laser feelings. I would like to know how these slugs actually infect an individual, like, whats their method of communication from one host to another.

I'm just combining your LF with your success to give you a bunch of information:

Your scan shows the following results: The parasite is around 30cm/1ft in length with powerful mandibles and retractable nerve-like tentacles that it can use to link into a host's nervous system. Their bodies are generally slow and weak but have the ability to launch themselves by burning a huge amount of energy at once. They can eat into a host to infect it and then heal the target's wounds before it dies to take over the body. This appears to be their original mode of doing infecting other creatures but you suspect that by now they would have invented a way to do it by surgery which would be much less stressful on both the host and the parasite.

You also realize that even without a host, the parasite is able to communicate, even if only in clicking noises, which, however, can be translated by the computer.

Kendall messages Cass: "Commander, I have a shot at destroying the ship. It's a risk, though. Sending the schematic map to you, with the red area signifying the weakness.

"I would volunteer to eradicate the threat. These things are something else."

Marbo will make note of their ability to apply regenerative healing to the hosts. That could come in handy if he found a way to turn the slugs into a medical tool instead of a murderous parasite.

He will take down all the information in his datapad, and forward it to Cassano, Belka, the Ensigns McCoy and Pulaski, and even Moira.

Got an octopus on mah wall fer nuthin'. Marbo, what are yeh doin? Have yeh tried the synth shell, at least?

She does a double take.

DOCTOR DON"T GIT YERSELF SLUGGED!!!
OOC:
Can I roll for fish? She's already got contraband in her room.
Mar 18, 2019 8:53 pm
OOC:
You don't have to roll for it. If you think Moira would have an aquarium in her quarters, then just say you do.
But you'd need a heckin' big fish to even fit the parasite in there.

Space Carp, anybody?

"Marbo has no intent to get slugged. Artificial shell and Slug are prepared for transport to the airlock, We should move them there and prep for surgery"
OOC:
away from my desk for a while, so im gonna roll for the procedure now, its assumed marbo notified everyone, set his pager to busy, and is moving to the airlock, same procedures as before, with the airlock sealed and one guy outside ready to purge the shit out of both of us.

Lasers- Doctor doctor, give me the news, i got a bad case, of slug boy blues! - (3d6)
