Moira, after your short conversation, he gives you an unsure half smile and signals you to go back into your quarters.
"I'll be here if you need anything else!"

She smiles and gives him a casual salute as the door shuts, then gets back to work.

bowlofspinach says:
Cass, you receive multiple messages at the same time. One is by sickbay, confirming a successful operation. Marbo is still breathing through a machine but should be able to be woken up and disconnected from it within the hour. He will require a similar helmet to the one Cass is wearing but it is already being built. Belka is also telling you to keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't overextend himself, which is a serious risk with him and could lead to severe consequences in his current condition.

The second is by Darcy who also gives a short summary of Marbo's situation and then requests that Moira is sent back to her quarters, now that the operation is finished. She also informs you that she will join you on the bridge shortly.

The third message is from Stellar Cartography. Apparently one of the long range sensors has picked up a distress beacon requestion help and mentioning a location as well as three names: Lt. Comm. Alexandra Lloyd, Dr. Lorq and Lt. Comm. Zephyr Borealis
Cass expects to be flooded with relief at the news of Dr. Zlam's survival and apparently assured recovery. All she really feels is a momentary lessening of the anger that's fueling her new, more effective outlook.

"Acknowledged," she tells Belka. "But I won't have to watch to make sure Dr. Zlam doesn't overextend himself, because he's going to be on a medical leave of absence, yes? You're surely not clearing him for duty in his condition?"

She doesn't wait for him to acknowledge her because Darcy's message comes in. She acknowledges the information on Zlam and confirms that Bruce should be re-confined to quarters. She's been too easy on them, all of them. They need a leader, after all, not a big sister.

The message about the distress beacon hits her where she lives, but where before she might have leaped up from the chair and engaged in happy histrionics, she now just sits up straighter. "We got 'em! Cassano to Tulak. We've got a lock on a distress call from some Spacefleet prisoners. We've located our missing crew members."

bowlofspinach says:
"We're reading seventeen life forms in total, excluding the strike team.", he replies.
OOC:
It's a small ship that can easily be piloted by three people but has enough room for ten times that.
Kendall comms Cass: "That skeleton crew is gonna have a hell of a time piloting that ship on their own. It requires at least three, from what I saw. Let’s take down their shields and transport those bugs to kill them.

I’m sure that your lead engineer can get the ship back to a safe state afterwards, so that we can take the fight to that queen."
Kendall walks towards the bridge, ready to walk into the ready room to talk with Cass.

Moonbeam says:
"Acknowledged," she tells Belka. "But I won't have to watch to make sure Dr. Zlam doesn't overextend himself, because he's going to be on a medical leave of absence, yes? You're surely not clearing him for duty in his condition?"
"Of course not, commander. But I am afraid, he won't let that stop him, just like this other patient I have that should still be in the recovery tube."

Tulak send back an acknowledgement. The good news don't seem to cheer her up. Her voice sounds dead serious, as she continues speaking. "Cassano, I am waiting for information. What happened to the pirates? Our sensors indicate that the kamikaze ship go there with your transporters. And we read transporter activity on the remaining pirate ship and are now unable to find any life signs."
Mar 20, 2019 2:13 pm
Kendall, you enter the bridge just in time to hear Cass' messages and the replies she's receiving.
Mar 20, 2019 2:25 pm
"That's correct. We saw that the life forms were on their way to the bridge. I couldn't risk them going to warp and warning their fellow parasites about us. I know from brutal experience that they don't negotiate in good faith. I did the only reasonable thing before their shields went up and transported them aboard the Potential." She pauses. "Obviously, they no longer pose a threat.

"As for the rogue ship, I've learned that the civilian who initially responded to our fake distress signal took it upon herself to send her ship on a suicide mission. She did so without authorization and I intend to discipline her."
Cass glances up at Kendall, who is standing out a camera range for the video feed, and gives her a slight nod of acknowledgment.

"Now, Captain, let's talk rescue."

Tulak doesn't seem pleased. "You know that's not how spacefleet operates, Commander. I expect a full report to be written and sent to me for approval within 24 hours. And know that I will send this report on to Spacefleet Command."
She takes a deep breath and suddenly looks a bit less serious. "I can't have them assuming it was me again this time."
Mar 20, 2019 2:30 pm
"I am all ears, Commander. Do you have a plan?"
Mar 20, 2019 2:41 pm
"You'll have your report," Cass says without inflection. She'll have Darcy write it up. That should be sufficiently just and scathing. "And no, not yet. I need to confer with my senior staff.

"Oh, and I haven't forgotten your request for my chief engineer. I may not be able to provide her, as she's currently confined to quarters for..."
Cass hesitates, not sure how to describe Bruce's transgression, finally settling on, "gross insubordination. But I'll send someone to help you.

"I'll have a rescue proposal within the hour."

Kendall waits for Cass to finish her part, and then she walks into the ready room. She will sit on the chair at the head of the table, get an apple from the replicator, and lean back in her chair with her feet crossed on the table.

She will access the computer and ask to play any feeds related to the slug hosts. She wants to understand their quirks, their movements, their speech patterns. She will do this until Cass walks in to talk.
OOC:
I will roll Feelings, but you can change that if you wish.
Kendall is used to performing passive subterfuge (posing as personnel in the periphery, but she has never been the main act before. This studying is unfamiliar to her.

OOC:
Has Darcy made it to the bridge yet, or is she waiting for a bus?
Mar 20, 2019 4:02 pm
OOC:
It's only been around a minute since her message. She's not there yet.

Kendall: They're generally moving slowly and methodically but you see that they are able of quick bursts of speed. Their faces are usually completely blank and emotionless unless they want to show emotions in their faces. They also seem to have a tendency of exaggeration their facial expressions to an uncanny degree. The translator gives their speech as completely monotonous but the actual clicking always sounds very aggressive and wild.

"You have the conn," Cass tells Mezron. "Lt. Comm. Darcy will be on the bridge shortly. I'll be in the ready room." It occurs to her that she has never once referred to it as her ready room, even though she knows that it, like the command chair, belongs to the office of captain and not the person. It is as clear an indication as one could find that she has always known that being captain is not what she's meant for. She hasn't been able to bring herself to fully accept the mantle, no matter how much she may have wanted to. Perhaps that's why she'd let her senior officers get away with so much non-regulation behavior - to sabotage her own undeserved command.

She walks into the ready room to see Kendall making herself so casually at home. Cass takes the seat at the desk and says, without preamble, "You said you have an idea. Let's hear it."
Mar 20, 2019 4:46 pm
A metallic wheeze, the sound of a small pump straining. Blinding white, Marbo opens his eyes and finds himself connected to more wires than even moira would know what to do with. Defibrillators, heartrate monitors, and various other vital systems beep and whizz and buzz as he lay on the medbay stretcher.

He attempts to call out to someone but finds no voice in his throat. His head is still swimming. He reaches for a datapad that is sitting on a nearby surgical tray, and turns on the front facing camera, examining the damage. A look of regret crosses his face, "Another failed expiriment" he thinks to himself.

He begins typing, a design coming to mind similar to cassanos helmet, but only covering his affected throat.

Piece by piece he builds it in the drafting program recognized by the replicators, and sends it to the nearest one.

He closes his eyes and lays there. hoping that Belka and the other doctors are too busy to concern themselves with him. Once the datapad notifies him that the replicator has printed his device off, he stands up carefully, and moves with great deliberation as to not disconnect any of the lifesaving equipment he has mounted to his body at this point. When he reaches the replicator, he sees his contraption. A bulky collar/chestplate containing a sterilized sealed area for his neck, as well as an electronc vocal modulator, and an oxygen pump connected to a canister of ethanol, which he can administer at any time to reduce stress and prevent unnecessary stress related damage to his wounds.

He fits it over the Spacefleet standard issue "Walking Wounded" Robe that he is wearing. A very simple zip-up full body robe, that serves as an easy, warm cover for wounded who are able to move about the ship. The benefits to the robe, on top of being warm and comfortable, is that it conceals a majority of the wires and tubes that his new collar uses to connect to his body, as well as denoting that he is currently not "Acting Staff."

Once he is suited, a page comes through the PA system, taking almost everyone by surprise due to its slightly pitchy, robotic tone.

"Commander. Zlam. Good catch.

Marbo has some thoughts on these slugs he would like to share when you are available."

If it werent for the strange mechanicality to his voice, it would almost come off as aggressive, something nobody has heard come from Marbo before.
Mar 20, 2019 4:51 pm
As soon as you start speaking, Dr. Belka runs up to you. "Marbo, what do you think you're doing? Get back on the bed immediately. You have not been cleared to get up. You're not even supposed to be awake yet! What is wrong with the anaesthesia on this ship?"

Cass, you hear Marbo's voice over comm, but it sounds weird and metallic
Mar 20, 2019 4:55 pm
Moira hears Marbo through the PA, relieved and startled. She's finished her preparations, and she's getting antsy. Reprimand is one thing, but they're in a crisis right now. She leans up against the door and calls to the guard.

Lieutenant Havering, can yeh tell me what's goin' on on tha ship? How're negotiations? Have we found tha crew? Does tha Commander need me?

After a short moment of hesitation, you receive a message back from Havering: "I'm sorry, ma'am, orders by Darcy, but I'm not supposed to share mission information like the fact that we found the location of the missing crew members or that the pirate ship in this system has been destroyed with you."
