lavtodd says:
So.....Commander.......tha coordinates? Yer ship's ready fer warp.
"I'd prefer that we nail down the plan details before going to warp. You know, just for the new experience. Do we do the fake distress call? Our people seem to have gained access to the communication system on their ship, so maybe they have control of the bridge. Will a fake distress call even work in that scenario?"

Darcy speaks up: "Sickbay should focus on developing a way to save infected hosts. I'm just going to replicate myself some painkillers."
Mar 22, 2019 6:30 pm
Cass laughs. "No, you're not. You're getting treated properly. That's an order. And you said I'm a great acting captain - you all heard her - so you have to do what I say."

Moira thinks: Ah'd give yeh some'a mah "painkillers", but ah'm in enough trouble already.

Maybe not the signal then. OH! Send a message stating we're bringing them their requested particle filtration nubs! Reverse the hostage protocol codes!

She begrudgingly confirms the order and adds: "We've already done the fake distress signal and they lost two ships because of it. They probably won't fall for it again."

Marbo stands up very quickly, all four hands coming down on the table.

" Marbo will not let the crew be put at risk of infection by those things!"

He points out whatever window is nearest, into empty space.

" You can not understand what marbo saw out there. The feeling of those things enroaching on you, burrowing into you preparing to take your body away. Preparing to seperate you from everything that makes you a person!"

The anger in Marbos voice almost immediately subsides into sadness. He chokes back tears for a moment before continuing.

Those creatures... those monsters... They can not be given the remotest opportunity to claim more lives. Marbo will not allow it.

He turns away from cassano, looking out the window into the void.

Marbo will not allow it..

"I think I have an idea. What if we put a crew on the pirate ship we have left and have it 'tow' the apparently captive Potential? We can't carry on a real-time conversation in their language yet, but we could send a one-way message, something like, 'communications array damaged in battle with meatbags. Have captured Spacefleet ship with many potential hosts.' If our folks are in control of their ship, we drop the charade. If not, we play out the ruse until we spring the trap."

OOC:
You guuuuuys, you stepped all over my ideeeeaaaa.

Moonbeam says:

OOC:
Your idea is bad and you should feel bad.

The new idea is much better, though

Moira nods, keeping an eye on Marbo.

Ah think it'll work. An' then we can get our folks back. Dunnae worry, Doctor.
Mar 22, 2019 6:43 pm
OOC:
So how are we doing this? Cass' idea coming after Marbo's outburst doesn't really work.
Mar 22, 2019 6:44 pm
OOC:
May I propose

*Order to Darcy
*Moira and Cass
*Marbo's outburst

And we move forward comforting the fish man?

OOC:
Works for me. Any objections?

OOC:
I didnt intend to completely nix your idea moonbeam, marbos just... traumatized about these slugs. But hes on medical leave anyways, so he couldnt change the plan if he wanted to.
Mar 22, 2019 6:55 pm
OOC:
All right, I'm running.
Commander, with yer permission, ah'll prep Engineering for tha plan. Ah'll get mah best ta help.

She looks Marbo's way but doesn't step closer.

An' don't worry, Marbo. If yeh think about it, these are like any other parasite, just very advanced. If gettin' rid 'a mice is justifiable, then, well, maybe this is, too.
OOC:
I would really love to roll four dice for engine room prep. It's my ship (expert), I did have fake-derelict plans drafted for the Antarctica already (prepared), and I'm getting my crew on board (help). Please disregard any dice that shouldn't be there.

Edit: OH COME ON!!!!

OOC:
Well, you've managed to draw up all the necessary configurations to make the Potential seem dead. It's hard to tell how well it will stand up to a scan of the ship but it looks fine
Mar 22, 2019 7:17 pm
OOC:
Better than nothing, Commander?
Mar 22, 2019 7:22 pm
OOC:
*In Shakespearean tones* Make it so.

OOC:
Tea. Earl Gray. Hot.

Cass stands and moves to the window to stand beside Marbo. "Marbo, it's okay. I get what you're saying. What you went through is... well, there's not a strong enough word for it, so 'unimaginable' will have to do. I agree that this race has sort of proven itself, according to what evidence we currently have, irredeemable. At least, we have no reason to believe that attempting to negotiate peaceful coexistence with them will result in anything but betrayal and our enslavement. So we're on the same page there, okay?

"But if we extend that attitude to say that any of their victims are automatically unsalvageable... that's a different tier on the surrendering of our humanity, don't you think? It seems to me that's more or less the flip side of the parasites' attitude. The guy who attacked both of us used the word 'meatbags.' If we declare that anyone who's been turned into a host, even very recently, is not worth saving.... well, aren't we treating them like 'meatbags,' too?"
