78RPMLife says:
"You're surprisingly forgiving," she says.
"I'm considering this first contact Ms. Lloyd. We have no true understanding of the intent of these pirates or whatever creature may have infected them. For all we know they may be trying to save the last remaining members of their dying species. It is our responsibility as Space Fleet officers to not make assumptions until we can get to the bottom of this. Not to mention as a Science Officer, you could say that I'm more than a little intrigued at the potential of discovering a new species."

Zephyr turns to Ensign Meyers, "I'm not sure what the plan is to be honest. Let's just see if we can find them first."

Zephyr starts making his way down the hall and opening each door carefully.

While possible, I think taking over the whole ship could be tough. We need to get a message out first I think. After that we can try and take out more of our guards. Maybe mess with the air. I am open to any suggestions.

Alex frowns thoughtfully at Zephyr’s back as he continues down the hall. She processes Zephyr’s words for a long moment before she too follows. "They’re sedated... they wouldn’t have known," she mutters, but it doesn’t sound like her heart’s in it.

"I’m inclined to agree with Lorq. Let’s look for a way to get a transmission off the ship. Messing with the air would work if we had vac suits or something similar. Keep your eyes open for something that would serve."

You've definitely seen pirates in vac suits so they must be around. Let me know which part of the ship you want to investigate.
Mar 15, 2019 1:15 pm
"Agreed. Maybe head toward the Hangars then? There should be some vac suits there, and it is adjacent to the navigational array. We can use the terminals there to see if we can send a message to the ship. Maybe even activate the homing beacon. I'd like to keep an eye out on the way and see if we can find Lt. Felt and M1-K3 though. How does that sound?"
OOC:
I'm picturing Vac suits to be more like an environmental suit and not a microchem bio-suit. If I'm wrong then heading toward medical/engineering would make more sense.

OOC:
The way I'm picturing, they're basically futuristic space suits. Not as clunky and awkward, so you can basically move freely in them. Designed for surviving in space, for example for repairs on a ship's hull
As you make your way through the ship, you are lucky and don't encounter any more pirates, which makes you think this ship is currently running with minimal crew. You also don't find anymore rooms that are used as prison cells and therefore no prisoners. YOu could try to find if there's an actual brig on this ship but you at least don't find one on your way to the hangar.

You reach a hangar bay and find a small runabout in it. It appears damaged. You can't make out the extent of the damage from the outside. If you wanted to find out, you would have to get inside and try to start it. There's also a large, opened box with vac suits in it in the hangar bay. The box is half empty but there's still six suits left.

Alex has been unusually quiet during the scavenger hunt through the pirate ship, apparently lost in some deep thought. A few times she's shown that her nerves aren't 100%, jumping at shadows that don't move quite the way she expected, or flinching at the typical noises of a starship. Each time, she can be heard berating herself in a quiet mutter, but it still doesn't cross the line toward actual attempts at conversation.

Arriving at the hangar bay seems to snap her out of whatever funk she's been in. With something concrete to do, she springs -- relatively -- into action. "Not sure how far this beast would get us," she says. "It should have communication capability though... one of you with more tech skills can go in and check it out." It's not quite an order, but she's already moving on as though she doesn't expect argument. "Meantime, why don't we all get suited up, just in case. Then maybe we can try and find your other crewmates?" she says to Zephyr.

Lorq gets suited up.
Dammit I am a doctor not a communications engineer.
OOC:
I always wanted to say that.
if no one is more qualified I will give it a chance.

OOC:
Lorq, you're the best in Lasers and none of you are experts so I'd say, you are the most qualified for this job
Mar 16, 2019 3:34 pm
OOC:
Call it prepared since I will study it a bit first?

Rolls

Lasers - (2d6)

(26) = 8

OOC:
The prepared die failed anyway

Lorq, it takes you a good amount of time. Like any Spacefleet officer, you have studied this kind of thing at the Academy but that was years ago and you haven't done much with machines like this since then, but after a while, it comes back to you. The ship has some damage but nothing too serious, so you manage to get it to work after a while. In case you want to escape in it: it would be able to make a long distance journey but it wouldn't be able to outrun the pirate ship you are on at the moment.

" Nice work Lorq! Suit up and let's head over to the navigational array. We can set up a distress call to our ships, and maybe even activate the homing beacon so they know exactly where to find us. Then we can go look for the others."

Once everyone is ready Zephyr, phaser rifle in hand, heads out the hanger door and back into the hallway of the ship. Finding a terminal should be easy enough, and because the place seemed so deserted earlier he doesn't really feel the need to be exceptionally cautious.

"After we gather everyone, then what? If we get this homing beacon activated, maybe we wait things out? I don't really know that I feel comfortable blasting our way through this entire ship and potentially killing off a species. That is assuming we could even make that happen. Any thoughts?"
Mar 16, 2019 6:31 pm
Suddenly, the comm system starts up and a harsh clicking sounds through the cargo bay. You are all unable to understand it but it doesn't sound friendly. Then the lights around you flash Yellow Alert.

They must have noticed your escape

"Yes. I think we’re in trouble."

Alex looks around the hold, not panicking from the looks of things, but more with a hypercritical eye as to usefulness. "We might be able to trick them into thinking we’ve left the ship..."

She looks to Zephyr, and calls Lorq and Ensign Meyers. "What if we were to put the sedated pirates on the ship here and launch it? The pirates here might think the life forms are us, buying us some time to think of another plan.". She wrinkles her nose and frowns. "Of course that would require going back for the sedated pirates. We might not make it that far without having to do some fighting."

She pauses, and smiles faintly. "And Mr. Borealis is right. The less violence, the better."

OOC:
I don't think you have any sedated pirates with you. The last ones you encountered, you locked in a cell somewhere. They were none in the hangar bay.
Mar 16, 2019 7:03 pm
OOC:
No, we don’t. I was all excited about my idea until I realized that, but posted it anyway because nothing better came to mind.
Mar 16, 2019 7:05 pm
OOC:
You could try to find some somewhere. Or maybe find a way to create fake life signs to trick the sensors.
Mar 16, 2019 7:10 pm
OOC:
I’ll let the others weigh in that. :)
Mar 16, 2019 8:32 pm
I still feel like our best course of action is to try to make sure that the others know that we are here alive. Maybe after that we can use our knowledge of the Consortium ship's build to find a place to hideout? I bet I can override the scanners so that they can no longer sense life forms. At least temporarily."
