"Huh? Oh my Computer! There's hundreds of them coming! We've got to get through!" Brett turns around to tries to break the bar with his strength.

OOC:
I thought they were coming "from the bars" so... the way back is the safe way. Any ideas?
Jun 15, 2019 4:15 pm
OOC:
Oh? If they're from the other side of the gate, then I might change my action.
Jun 15, 2019 4:58 pm
OOC:
They are on your side of the gate

The following map appears on all of your PDCs

At the edge of the murky darkness, Will can see the first of the sets of beady little eyes running in their direction. And then more. They're on both walkways.

Up here, the bars are not rusty and appear to be solid. Brett grabs ahold of the iron bars in front of him and digs his feet in the ground. He pulls on them with tremendous effort, his whole body straining. The bars remain solid. But somehow Brett is able to dig down deep and pull a little extra hard and one of the bars budges a tiny bit.

Cart can see no identification, he can only see that the part of the gate that is meant to open, is only accessible from the bottom of the tunnel

Cart's PDC:
Okay. I think I can help. It sounds like you are having trouble determining the Gate TYPE. Would you like to choose from a list of possible gates?
Jun 15, 2019 11:42 pm
"Yes please show the list of possible gates to choose from." Cart spoke calmly to the PDC.

To the others however, "We have to try breaking the bars from below the sludge, that's how I managed with the first gate. All three of us go down? Up here it's all vermin." He listened anxiously to the sound of the incoming squeakers.

"But we just got up..." He then looks to the tide of squeaking. "Fine, down I go again." Brett carefully climbs down into the sludge.
Jun 16, 2019 9:38 am
"Well, we're already dirty anyway. Unwashable undies!" Gas mask back on, Cart also went back down, and straightaway went to work on the bars, knowing better where to yank at them so that they'd break off the same way the previous ones did.

I look down into the pure dirt of the sludge river and then back at my nice and clean suit... I hesitate. For a long time I consider the endless vermin coming my way to a quick dive into a very dirty safety. "Mmm guys... why don’t you go ahead and I... mmm, hold the fort here. You know, in case you need to climb back to the walkway or something .

Okay, let's get started.
If you would like to hear more about a GATE TYPE simply repeat the name of the GATE TYPE into your PDC

Logic Gates
Slide Gates
Swing Gates
Vertical Lift Gates
Vertical Pivot Lift Gates
Bi-Folding Gates
Pedestrian Swing Gates
Pedestrian Portals
Other Gates

If you would like to hear this list again, say "Repeat Gate Types"

Cart finds it much more difficult to break the bars this time.

From down in the sludge, Cart and Brett can see that there is in fact a gated door that will easily swing out towards them and allow them through.

From above
Will can now see the stampede approaching, the walkways are so crowded with vermin that they are literally swarming over eachother, occasionally losing some into the sludge who begin frantically paddling. Beyond the squeeks and squeals and overhead music, Will can hear a wooshing sound rapidly approaching from behind the swarm.

I look at the mass of vermin coming What could possibly be swooshing the vermin this way? I think as I try to find a place I can climb out of their way.
OOC:
Are the bars climbable?

Cart quickly scanned the gate to see if could identify hinges, pivots, rails, or other signs, mechanisms to show how it is operated.

Seeing as the gate could swing towards them, Brett will attempt to pull it open.
Jun 17, 2019 4:21 pm
Will climbs to the top of the bars in time to see the front-running creatures start hitting the gate, attempting to squeeze inbetween the bars.

Down in the muck where Cart is pulling on iron bars, Brett stands beside him and easily opens the door.

Brett also goes through the gate, but seeing that the wave of water will still overwhelm them, he prepares to hold his breath and gets into a smaller profile. He will also clutch the multicorder tightly to his chest to not let it go. Though this might cause him to be electrocuted...
