Marbo sees the pale man lunge forward' and already being choked up on the rifle, turns to him. theres a brief second of eye contact before marbo squeezes the trigger, the scalpel blade activating as the rocket surges the custom bullet forward.

"My game plan? What odd colloquialisms your species uses. This is not a game, Commander. My plan is to usurp our illustrious leader here and deliver my kind into a life of autonomy. There is little doubt in my mind that the large majority of our species agree with my actions here today. I believe even you agree with me in some regard Commander Cassano. I am not interested in sharing my existence with another life form. I am not interested in giving up my liberty for a shared life with an alien species which I detest. We are not interested."

A grin starts to form on NotZephyr's face, "Regardless of physical positioning, I believe you know I have the upper hand here. I suggest you allow me to stand up and contact the other members of our ship's crew. I will inform them of our situation via our comm system, and they will come and open the door for me. You may then leave our ship and let our internal struggles be our own."

As he finishes his monologue he looks over at the phaser in his hand, and you see a small indication of panic in his eyes. His trigger finger starts to twitch as if he is struggling with himself to keep it steady.

"Seriously, if you stop moving, there’s a chance you come out of this alive, with a chance to continue your existence. Keep moving, and at least three, possibly four weapons take you down. Stop moving and we’ll talk."

78, since I don't know if you check discord while you're away: it looks as if the pale man is very into this whole mutiny thing. He might be willing to talk if Zephyr can keep his body but he probably still would want to take over for the captain.
He's also currently mid-attack, so trying to talk him down might be difficult

Alex winces as she pulls off a shot. Not something she really wants to be doing.

Note: For everyone who hasn't checked the discord, we've discussed a new house rule. From now on, if you do a reroll after getting LF, hitting your number does not trigger another LF but instead counts as a success. Outside of rerolls, hitting your number still doesn't count as a success.
If anyone doesn't like this rule, let me know and we'll go back to the original rules

The pale man unexpectedly jumps up from the ground, right at Alex. He seems to be trying to throw her to the ground but before he hits her, she quickly raises the phaser she got from him and fires a shot at him.
Before his body touches hers, it's completely disintegrated. There is no trace left of the parasite or the host body except faint burn marks on the floor behind him.

This is all very dramatic and everything, but frankly, Cass is over it. Without another word, she pulls the trigger on her modified phaser rifle, firing at not-Zephyr's unarmored head.

Cass, your shot hits Zephyr right in the face and immediately, he falls unconscious. The captain keeps holding him for a few seconds and then releases his grip. "I apologize, Commander. I did not expect this. I should have posted much more security." He stands up and looks around. "We need to find out if it was just those two or if more people have joined this mutiny."
Apr 5, 2019 4:21 pm
"Wait, captain. First things first. I came here to get my crewman back, and it seems likely that you can't guarantee that the operation can be performed securely right now. Please don't think I suggest this lightly, but... What if I transported him back to our ship? I realize that I'd be executing your person, but she was about to execute herself anyway. And Dr. Zlam and his medical team might be able to save Zephyr."
Apr 5, 2019 4:24 pm
"Nor does it seem safe for any of us to be here until such time as you have reestablished control," Alex says, her voice distant and her eyes locked on the spot the pale man had occupied until a few moments ago.
Apr 5, 2019 4:26 pm
"If you wish. Finishing the operation will be less stressful for your friend's body but if your medical staff is experienced with emergency surgery, you should be able to save him either way."
He doesn't mention the fate of the parasite but he doesn't seem to care about it anymore.

Cass glances at Alex, taking in her demeanor. As a diplomat, it seems likely that Alex has seen combat rarely and probably never has killed anyone before. See, this is why we should have a ship's counselor, Cass' internal narrator insists helpfully.

"I'll need you to order the shields lowered," she tells the captain. "If there's resistance to that order, I suppose that will tell us that there are more people involved in the mutiny."
Apr 5, 2019 4:36 pm
"I will move to the bridge. My people should already be trying to open this door." As if on cue, the door opens slightly. The mechanism seems to be broken but two people are pulling it open manually.
"Wait in here. That seems like the safest place for you to be right now. Just keep an eye on this one!" He points at Zephyr. "You should be able to beam out in a few minutes"
Apr 5, 2019 4:38 pm
"Wait - can't you just give the order to lower your shields by communicator from here?" Cass isn't keen to stand around waiting to be attacked again in the good ol' murder room.

"Marbo would like to express his displeasure at removing the slug from the organism formerly known as zephyr. But he will do it, nobody else on the potential can."
Apr 5, 2019 4:42 pm
"I can but I want to make sure I have control of the bridge before I let you return to your ship. Just as a precaution."

"You won't have to remove it. The transporter will remove it. You just need to repair any damage to Zephyr's central nervous system and... all that stuff." Dammit, she's a pilot, not a doctor.
