OK, so I just realized i haven't talked about XP at all. What I normally do is just give the party a level up whenever they have completed a significant story beat or when I feel like. I do track the xp from encounters though, and make sure I don't blow past a level up stage.

If anyone has an issue with the method I normally use, I can keep track of everything in the traditional manor.

XP-based progression always feels bizarre and anti-narrative to me. Levelling up during appropriate dramatic pauses (especially if those include a period of downtime where the characters can reasonably take some time to practice what they've learned, train with instructors, develop new techniques, conduct research, etc) is way more immersive, IMO. :)

I'm ok with that. 'Check point' based leveling works fine for me.

Actually, I think milestones are a travesty of an XP sys...just kidding, I love it!

I always use milestone levelling so it’s all good with me :)
