Because I wanted this game to be more of a collaborative experience I want everyone to buy in on and be happy with the planet and setting of the academy. I would prefer a canon planet, myself, since there are so many to choose from.
Here are my suggestions in alphabetical order.
Arkania - a cold, tundra planet that really only has any kind of greenery on the equator. It housed both Jedi and Sith temples at various times, meaning we don't have to go far to possibly run into dark side trouble. Add into that a somewhat hostile climate and there's plenty of room for plots just on the one planet.
Dantooine - It's calm, it's peaceful, it's a decently warm spring year round and just nothing goes wrong there at all. Dantooine has had Jedi temples in the past and will again in the future. Dantooine has one of the largest deposits of illum crystals in the galaxy, abundant enough that getting that mystical, powerful elemental essential to a Lightsaber and a Jedi's identity, is about as difficult as popping off to the store for some eggs.
Ossus - A world destined to have multiple academies and temples to the Jedi rise and fall, this is a world doomed to eventually be washed clean in radioactive fire, leaving only mutated and feral former Jedi behind to scrounge on the surface. But for right now it's a nice place to live with a huge library full of hidden secrets.
Tython - One of the oldest Jedi temples and one of the largest ever constructed, second only to the temple on Coruscant. It is a series of huge stone structures that would more correctly be called a citadel than a temple.
My personal preference is Arkania, the second being Dantooine. They are out of the way and will cut down on the number of NPC Jedi that might need to be played, as well as allowing us to have fun with Outer Rim nonsense. Dantooine is a good second choice because it's supposedly where Kreia trained Revan, for those of you who played the KOTOR games. I still like Arkania better because it is a harsher environment and that can lead to interesting wilderness scenarios and the like.
