A Jedi's most iconic possession is the Lightsaber. It is a symbol of the Jedi Order and the influence they have in the galaxy. The kyber crystals which provide focus to the energy that forms their blades. Kyber crystals are able to properly focus these energies in part because they resonate strongly with the Force. Other Force traditions may make use of the crystals in other ways, as talismans or as decorations for armor.
Knights and Masters typically have at least one Lightsaber, the weapon personalized to them and their specific taste. However, gaining the crystal is a rite of passage. If you -wish- your Padawan character may not have their Lightsaber yet. This means they will have to earn their crystal, the Force leading them to it. These journeys are self-reflective and occasionally dangerous.
If you decide that your character still has to gain their kyber crystals there are two important things you need to know. The first is that you will need to provide personal information on your Padawan that includes emotional hang-ups, past traumas and the like. The second is that you should be aware that it will basically be just your character, alone, for an extended period of time. During the kyber crystal event you would be down a character in the greater RP, so make sure you're committed before electing to go this route.
