Jedi Academy: Chapter 1 - Boundless

Jun 27, 2019 3:27 pm
OOC:
With the Knight's/Master's meeting over with and Ian's interruptions in boarding procedures over with, I am opening a new unified thread. This will cover everything that takes place on the week long trip to Arkania. Knights and Masters may want to hold training sessions, meet their Padawans or prepare for the Padawan Trials of those that do not yet have their own lightsaber. Padwans can explore, interact with each other, misbehave or whatever is in character.

Zatee walks down the ramp and notices his Padawan talking to the others. He stops halfway down a calls out to him, "Ah, Ian there you are. You missed check in you know... I would have thought someone so eager to leave Coruscant would have been the first to check in. He turns back up the ramp, "come, let's get you checked in so we can depart."

The droids finish out their sad, little dance routine for another half minute before it runs its course and they go back to work. The one that Lark was working on ends the performance a little earlier thanks to his efforts and the younger Padawan can tell that the code will have no lasting effect.

As Zatee calls out, Ian rolls his eyes before turning back towards Alyx a moment. "Please. If I literally took on a Sith Lord, by myself, an kept'im from eatin' a bunch'a babies they wouldn' make me'a Knight." He gives the Zabrak girl a playful wink as he lowers his sunglasses for a moment, "Nice thought, though, Captain Shale. Keep up'the good work."

Spinning on his heels to head towards the Boundless, he raises his voice loudly enough for the other Padawans and even Zatee to hear him. "Place yer bets, ladies'n gentlemen. How long b'fore Knight Ros gives up on'is Padawan. House is bettin'a a week." He wears a pleasant smile on his way up towards the corvette. He seems totally at ease with having been caught disrupting the departure of the Boundless from Coruscant.

When he catches up to the older Togruta, Ian offers him a small bow, overly flourished and unconcerned. "I must apologize Master Ros." He pauses a beat, like he's a stand-up comedian. "There was another two verses that I'm afraid you'll never get ta see performed, now."
OOC:
Let me know if you need something specific for Lillian to get started and just as a reminder, Veria is Lillian's assigned teacher.

Errad's jaw dropped. After all of that, this delinquent did not even get chastised by his Master?! What was the Jedi Order coming to that they would let someone like that train to become a Jedi Knight?

Errad collected himself with an effort. The calming and centering exercise he'd learned at the Temple barely did the job, but after a moment he had regained his composure. He remembered the younger boy who had been so enthralled with the capering droids had greeted him. Well, he didn't want to be rude. That was a mark of weakness.

Errad walked over to Lark. He was still tinkering with the now inactive droid. Errad took a deep breath and cleared his throat.

"Forgive me for being rude earlier, uh, padawan" ,Errad said, trying to sound sincere, "I'm Errad and we did not meet earlier because I came here directly from the Temple. I can't believe they are letting that guy stay in the Order. His Master must have the patience of a stone. Uh, do you know who your Master is yet? The Council did not tell me. They just told me to report here."
Jun 28, 2019 6:29 am
Merrick followed Master Zatee on to the ramp. He took in the scene before him. Droids arranged in a dancing array, holos, music, and a swinging padawan to boot; this kid had talent. Merrick stifled a snicker as Master Zatee lightly chided his padawan without losing an inch of his serenity. Zatee definitely had the skills to handle difficult padawans; much like Merrick's own Master Sahren Fel, though Master Fel preferred silence over gentle coaxing.

Merrick checked his datapad. He had been assigned a young Togruta named Zambar. The Council had been vague, but they suggested that Zambar was more accustomed to study rather than action.

Merrick sighed. Leave it to the Council to assign him a padawan exactly the opposite of himself. He scanned the platform and found Zambar. The boy was exactly as the Council had described him: 15 standard, lithe frame, and his nose in a book.

He finished walking down the ramp as Master Zatee and Ian passed him. The young Togruta had not moved from his reading. Merrick closed the distance between them and looked down at his padawan.

"You are Zambar, I take it" ,Merrick said, "I'm Merrick Durn. It seems you got stuck with me as your teacher. I'll be up front with you, kid, I've never done this before, but since we're both here, we might as well make the best of it. Deal?"
Jun 28, 2019 7:57 am
Zambar looks at master durn and close his book and says "so i will be your padawan im ok with so a deal"

Merrick allowed a small smile. Perhaps the kid might work out. Time would tell.

"I don't know what the Temple prepared you for, Zambar, but I can guarantee you are not going to find it on your datapad or a flimsiplast. My own Master believed that experience was the best teacher for a Jedi. I hope the work we do on Arcania will be a good proving ground for you, but that will only be the beginning. Before I present you for the Trials, you will be ready for the calling of Knighthood.

I spent many years among the worst dregs of galactic society. I know better than most what you will be facing when you are on your own in the wider galaxy. Your training will not be easy. At times, you may hate me. That is fine as long as you embrace what I teach you.

I may make mistakes. So will you. We will both learn from them and become better for them. The important thing is we learn from them.

I expect you to be ready at all times. Your robes will be neat and well-cared for. You will learn how to take care of your equipment. You will keep it in top working order.

We will both meditate and exercise daily. I expect you to be equally diligent in training your body as you are in deepening your connection to the Force. They are both interrelated and if one suffers, they both suffer.

During our time together, you will be expected to learn a great deal. Your Masters at the Temple speak highly of your scholarly abilities. I expect you to be better. If you are to learn all that you must to be knighted, prepare to be overwhelmed.

I know this sounds daunting and it should, but I believe you will do well if you apply yourself. Do you have any questions?
"

As Lark is watching the droid activate and move to whirl away back to work, his mind still thinking over the code and safety protocols, he is startled when Errad politely clears his throat next to him and speaks up. He does whip around to beam at the other Padawan after initial surprise.
"It's all cool, the situation was kinda a mess, not a good time for manners and etiquette. You feeling excited to start the group study yet?" He chuckles and offers a handshake. "I'm Lark. And my Master is... Ziel Cosca, I believe? Haven't meet the guy yet, but I heard he is an archaeologist, so that's interesting. Not exactly my best field, but maybe I can do some egineering for him? They do use excavation equipment." He looks around and nods at the Boundless. "You want to go inside, maybe search for our Masters? Or meet the others properly, I guess."

Charlie quietly laughs at Veria's comment, walking closer to the window and looking over the Echani's shoulder. "Now that looks like a call for attention." He observes the interactions happening on the landing platform for few more moments and then claps Veria on the shoulder, with pure lack of respect for personal space, but in what seems to be intended as a friendly gesture. "Well, I don't see my - or yours - Padawan here yet, Master Kaapel, and I believe we went through most of our plans here. Fancy a stroll around the ship?"
Jun 28, 2019 10:41 am
Errad smiled nervously at Lark. The younger padawan's optimism was growing on him. Maybe this assignment won't be the black hole he thought it would be.

"I don't know who my Master is yet" ,Errad said, "The Council did not tell me before sending me here. I would very much like to see the ship. Hopefully, whomever my Master is, they have more information than I do. I'm not accustomed to not knowing what to expect."

Errad began walking up the ramp into the Boundless.
Jun 28, 2019 11:02 am
Zambar chuckles and looks to his master and says "I will try to exceed your exceptions but I have one question when are we gonna start I waited here so long" then zambar continue reading his book

"Technically, we very rarely know what to expect from life in general," Lark philosophically notes as he quickly gathers his equipment and follows Errad to the ship. He pauses halfway up the ramp to wave at Tosh-Tosh and call "see you later!" and then, after a brief moment of hesitation, yells after Alyx: "Good job with the droids, Shale!"
He then hurries to catch up with Errad, looking at him with interest, as two Padawans proceed to enter the ship. "You say you came here straight from the Temple? So, a last minute assigment? Well, I hope you won't regret this sudden change of plans from the Council." Lark gestures around. "It is a great opportunity, after all!"

Lillian slowly stands up from behind one of the crates in the docking area. Removing her fingers from her ears she asks, "is it over?" Looking around she sees that the robots have stopped acting strange and makes her way towards the ramp. As she passes the others she says in a soft voice, "I'm going to have a look around the ship."

He glances at Ian when he catches up. "I'm very disappointed Ian..." he pauses a moment to see his reaction. "I didn't even get to hear your performance. He acts as if he is lost in thought then suddenly, "I've got it. Why don't you sing for us all in the mess hall at dinner. We can have everyone give you constructive criticism afterwards, and if it goes well we can have you sing every night. He smiles to himself as he continues walking towards a steward to get Ian checked in.

Dynnyana steps outside, robe tied around her waist and her datapad in one hand. She moves to one side, as she has not been assigned a padawan. It's possible she never will be, but she is fine with that. Instead, she smiles as she watches the padawans meet their masters. She sees Kaine holding back, and nudges him in the shoulder. "Your padawan destroyed property. Are you going to punish her?" She smirks, assuming that this paradox is what has him befuddled.

He smirks to the blonde woman, giving her a droll response. "And criticize such perfect form?" He starts down the boarding ramp towards the Zabrak Padawan. "Actually, I'm hesitating because I wanted to ask for your help in training her. Do you mind me calling on you for help with teaching her how to defend against multiple opponents?" It's an odd request. Especially since the implication is 'multiple opponents wielding lightsabers.

The giant Knight Kaine raises a hand in greeting towards Alyx and waves her towards him and Knight Catalia.
Jun 28, 2019 7:09 pm
Alyx looks around, a bit lost with all of the socializing. Holding her data pad close to her chest, she watches Ian's new master actually talking calmly and - if possible - casually, with Ian, and she smiles a little. Looking over the crowd again, she sees Kaine waving to her where he hadn't been before. Looking down at her datapad again: 'Master: Knight Kaine,' she starts pushing through the couples. "Excuse me," she murmurs, using her slight height and slender build to slip through the chatting Jedi.

She finally gets past and breathes a bit easier in the clear, and smiles a bit nervously up to knight Kaine. "Master." She winces and wonders if he will mention how she destroyed a bunch of electrical cords and wires. I really hope Ian brought those himself instead of stealing them from the hanger bay . . .
Jun 28, 2019 7:26 pm
As he was walking up the ramp with Lark, Errad noticed a middle-aged man looking around the platform. He had the look of a Jedi, but what was he looking for? Errad excused himself to Lark and walked back down the ramp.

"Excuse me, sir" ,Errad said, hoping not to offend bu not using a title, "are you lost? Is there somewhere I can help you get to? My time is a little limited it seems, but I am happy to help if I can."
Jun 28, 2019 7:30 pm
Steef looks and finds errad and go to errad and says to "him you are errad right i heard a lot about i will be you're new master do you have any questions"
Jun 28, 2019 8:38 pm
Errad was taken aback.

"Forgive me, Master. The Council did not tell me who was to be my Master when I met with them this morning. If I am being honest, I was a bit surprised to be assigned to this mission considering my performance at the Temple. I expected something a bit less, uh, menial. My research skills and insights were praised highly by the Masters at the Temple. I assumed I would be continuing to do the work I had done there when I was paired with a
Master. I have to say that going off into the wilderness to homestead was not what I had in mind.

He gives her a gentle smile and nod. "Well met." His voice is like a distant thunderstorm, a roll of rumbling bass. Green eyes crinkle, in amusement. "That was excellent form for someone your age. Probably could have just unplugged the cables but music is an industry full of harsh criticism, isn't it?" He gestures back towards the ship, before folding his hands across his stomach like the older masters might. "Are you nervous?"

Lark sighs, as he is once again left without a companion, and glances around. Everyone seems busy, from the Jedi to the ship's staff, and even the port's mechanics, and he doesn't want to impose. He waves after Errad, not even sure if he was seen - but content to leave him alone, - and then keeps walking, musing about what to do. Looking for the cabin he was to stay in seemed like an obvious choice, but then again... If everyone were busy, there was no one to stop him from getting to the engine rooms of the ship, right? Maybe he can chat with the ship's engineers, make some friends.
Humming a song he heard somewhere under his nose, the Padawan heads further into the ship, looking at the signs on the walls, quickly turning away from more populated corridors to the more technical parts of the Boundless. The staff mostly ignores him, although some guards follow him with wary looks that scream "should we stop him?", but Lark makes sure to look like he is on a mission. Usually it works with people who doesn't know him.

On her way up, Lillian encounters a young woman in grey robes who honestly only appears to be about nineteen or so. Her smile is kind and warm and her clasped hands make her look even more sweet and innocent. Long, white hair cascades loosely down her shoulders, "Lillian Heeks? I'm Knight Kaapel. I'm really excited to meet you. I looked up all your test scores and I'm really happy to have you as my first Padawan." When Knight Kaapel speaks the tone is almost syrupy sweet. There's no hint of condescension, she just really seems to be treating Lillian like she's eight instead of fifteen. It's especially ironic since she only appears a few years older than Lillian herself.

OOC:
Hah, both of my characters got outright ditched. XD Maybe I should make them meet after all.
Charlie watches Veria leave, apparently opting to ignore his offer completely, and sighs. Sometimes he wishes he had more friends among the Jedi, or at least was better at talking to people outside of tactical meetings and battlefields, but as it stands, here he was with no company besides the maps and the Arkania hologram - and, of course, his trusty axes. Chuckling, West moves to exit the Council room, briefly glancing towards the entrance of the ship, contemplating seeking out Steef or Merrick - the guy seemed nice, and a good warrior, it was probably worth it to invite him to spar later, - but eventually deciding against it.
Instead, Charlie turns the opposite direction, intent on looking for the closest place he can practice in. There should be training grounds somewhere on the ship, and hopefully they aren't equipped just to handle lightsabers. He was itching to do something physical after sitting through a debriefing, and that usually ended up in property damage...

Haha, it's fine! XD (I believe our GM missed my attempt to interact with NPC as well, maybe I'm just having no luck today. :D) It was certainly a lor of posts. I kinda wish we had separate threads for locations, or a way to tag people with which characters we try to interact, so it was harder to miss... With all the teachers and students it's becoming a lot of action all in one place.

That might be a good idea. I honestly expected less enthusiasm. Most of the games on here seem to be a lot slower. And I did see Lark's thing, I was just preparing something for him that's a little more in depth. Also, congratulations on rolling the first Critical, Lark. It was for Fortune, read below to find out if it was a Critical Success or Failure.
As Lark wanders he finds it's paradoxically easy and next to impossible to find his way throughout the ship. Terminals and signs give plenty of information about what deck or section he's in but do nothing to tell him -where- he is. He could be three meters from the bridge or right outside Waste Reclamation.

He passes through a random corridor, having no clue where he is when he is greeted at the end by huge, bulky, double doors. The words 'Main Engineering' are written across them in huge lettering. The door opens, a crewmen walks past and Lark is greeting with the sight of a full, naval fusion generator, hyperdrive motivator and power control systems. They rise up at least three decks before his view is cut off by the closing doors.

Main Engineering. The heart of the Boundless.

"As you say, Master."

Errad followed Steef back into the Boundless with more questions then he'd had when he arrived. His new Master was nothing like he'd expected. Master Steef seemed very down to earth and balanced. On the one hand, Errad appreciated that. He did not want a Master who was a hot head or a warmonger.

On the other hand, though Errad could be wrong, Mastef Steef did not seem particularly scholarly; none of the Masters he'd seen so far from the Boundless seemed especially so. The one who had been assigned to the Togruta seemed particularly thick. He definitely thinks with his lightsaber, Errad thought to himself smiling.

The Boundless appeared clean and well-maintained to Errad. He did not know much about ships beyond the basics taught at the Temple. He hoped it would be a long and boring trip to Arcania. He had plenty to think about and even more to sort regarding his new life as a padawan.

"It seems that patience will be your first lesson, padawan" ,Merrick said with a mischievous sparkle in his eye, "your first task will be to get to know the ship as well as you know that datafile you are reading. You will start in lower engineering and you will memorize its exact layout down to the last bolt. You will memorize it so well that you will be able to recreate it visually in a three dimensional map, verbally by describing it perfectly in a speech before the other Masters and padawan, and physically by walking the entire section blindfolded. Each of these tasks you will complete with perfect memory in addition to your other lessons and duties. When you have completed this task to my satisfaction, you will move to the next deck above it and perform the same task. By the end of this exercise, you will know the Boundless better than your childhood sleeping quarters. I would like you to complete this assignment by the time we reach Arkania. If you have no further questions, padawan, I suggest you get hopping."

It's nice to see an active big group! :D And it's kinda... interesting that a first crit comes up on Fortune, of all things? Thanks for giving Lark something to do! He'll try not to cause much chaos. XD
(...and actually, I meant Charlie trying to chat with the Captain as a missed thing, but that was just a minor attempt some posts back. :D)
Lark stares in amazement at the wonders of engineering right here, before his eyes, revealed like a dream come true. He let's out an excited sound, catching confused glances of some of the staff passing by, and barely keeps enough presence of mind to hold on from getting inside immediately. He've seen the schematics, even holograms, but it's the first time he's gotten so close to an actual fusion generator of this size, and the hyperdrive, and the engines - all of it is just beautiful. If only he could actually get closer, without getting anyone in trouble... He might be too enthusiastic at times, but safety protocols do exist for a reason, and professional solidarity is a thing!

Almost vidrating with glee and grinning happily, each few seconds turning his gaze back at the doors, the Padawan looks around, trying to figure out the most approachable - and not busy - crewman around. Someone who looks like they have authority to invite a Jedi for a quick tour in a sector like Main Engineering, or maybe just a friendly mechanic who needs a hand. A guard? There seems to be some around...
OOC:
Can I use Perception or Intelligence to look for someone to charm into letting Lark inside? :D (They both are 7 for me.)

She scratches at her chin with long, almost claw-like fingernails as she glares down at the two students. "Jedi children, what are you doing here?" Her voice is raspy and, quite frankly, sounds a little evil to the human ear. "Are you lost?"
Jun 29, 2019 4:39 pm
Lark waves at Zambar in greeting, too focused on finding a target for his mission to explain the idea to the other student in detail. "Just looking around the ship," he offers, as he scans the surroundings. "But how exactly are *you* here?... Nevermind, incoming!" He perks up as he notices the Devaronian heading towards them and steps forward, putting on his best charming expression.
"Good day, miss! We aren't lost - in fact, I was specifically looking for this part of the ship!" Lark gestures at the doors of Main Engineering. "You see, I'm deeply interested in the inner workings of starships, and was hoping someone from The Boundless' would be willing to show me around! Just a quick tour," Lark looks at her like a picture of innocence. "I wouldn't want to disturb the crew by investigating myself, and it is always insightful to listen to a professional!"
Jun 29, 2019 4:49 pm
She arches an eyebrow at Lark, frowning sharply. Her teeth are visible over her lips, pointed and sharp, like a carnivore. "We're about to launch. And I'm not a tour guide." Her eyes narrow to sharp, beady slits as she hisses at Lark and Zambar. "I'm," she introduces herself with a name that sounds like a animal dying in pain. "Most humans call me 'Debbie'. If I sit you down in a observation chair will you stay put until someone comes to collect you both?"
Jun 29, 2019 5:05 pm
"Well i have an order from my new master he wants me to explore around the boundless and memorize it a kind of training i guess"
Jun 29, 2019 5:13 pm
'Debbie' hisses again. "Of course he does." She makes a low, growling sound in her throat, "Either stick to the corridors or join the other kid here and sit in Main Engineering and -watch- without touching and getting in the way. I'd call the captain but I'm sure he's playing host to your 'masters' right now." Putting her red skinned hands on her hips she turns to head back into Main Engineering. "Your choice but either way, don't bother anyone working for a living."
Jun 29, 2019 5:23 pm
"well ok i will stick to the corridors i don't make a first bad impression to my new master and plus i don"t have my book now"
Jun 29, 2019 6:58 pm
"Thank you, miss Debbie, I'd love a chance to observe the launch proceedings! I will do my best to not be a bother!" Lark hurries to follow after her, happy to have an actual pass into the engineering sector. He idly wonders about Debbie's rank, scanning her uniform for any identification, but doesn't focus on it much, his attention already shifting to the perspective of seeing the work of the reactors and engines during the launch. If he is lucky, it'll also be a while until anyone realizes he is here.
As they part their ways with Zambar, Lark smiles at the other Padawan: "Good luck with your new assignment! Exploration, I guess? I'm pretty sure I won't remember how to get back to the entrance from here, this ship's a maze. Anyway, see ya later then!" He waves quickly and moves to catch up with Debbie.

Merrick watched his new padawan set off on his task. Merrick felt a little bad for setting the bar as high as he did for Zambar, but then he remembered Master Fel's first lesson to him about patience. Merrick had wanted to strangle the old Wee'quay.

Master Fel had sat Merrick in a bare room with nothing but a bottle. He instructed Merrick to evacuate the oxygen from the bottle molecule by molecule until it was a vacuum inside the bottle. Once he completed that, he was expected to refill the bottle with oxygen; again, molecule by molecule.

He'd spent the first day climbing the walls and screaming. The second day was much the same; and the third. By the fourth day, hunger began to become an issue. Merrick was forced to employ Jedi meditation to deal with the pains wracking his gut.

This led him to find his center. By the fifth day, he'd begun sorting out how to focus on the oxygen molecules in the room and how they interacted with one another and the other elements in the air. By day six, he had begun the exercise.

By Day 10, he had managed to empty the bottle. It took him another three days to fill it back up. When he had placed the last molecule in the bottle, Master Fel entered the room and graced Merrick with one of his rare smiles.

"Well done, padawan" ,Master Fel said, "what took you so long?"

Merrick had laughed and laughed until he passed out...

Merricks thoughts returned to the present. Zambar was not him. The togruta already seemed to have a well-disciplined mind. The challenge for him, Merrick thought, would be awareness.

The task he had set for Zambar was difficult but not impossible. If he really applied himself, he would be able to have a complete picture of the ship burned into his mind. That was the foundation of the skill set Merrick wanted to build in Zambar to start. Being able to take a complete mental snapshot of an area with perfect memory allowed one to use any environment to one's advantage.

Merrick's thoughts moved to another subject: Dynnyana. Seeing her in the conference room was completely unexpected. The last time they had seen one another was on Nal Hutta.

Merrick had been working for a Hutt named Baga in loss prevention which was a nice way of saying "leg breaker." Dynnyana had been working as a mercenary. After they had worked a few jobs together, Merrick began to notice her connection to the Force.

Slowly at first, Merrick began to coax Dynnyana into awareness of what she could do. When they parted company, she had said she was getting out of the merc business and going to find the Jedi. It would seem she was as good as her word.

Merrick decided now was as good a time as any to catch up.

zambar finally find his way out of the same corridor and reaches the exit of the ship but to be sure that he can fulfill his task he goes and enter the ship again

Charlie strolls through the ship corridors, exchanging passing words with some of the crew and looking for the training grounds. As he comes by a wide window, he stops to look outside, at the busy port: mountains of cargo crates, droids zipping past, other ships going through repairs or preparing to take off. Coruscant is a city that never sleeps, energy flowing in its metaphorical veins. It was certainly nice to stay here, but already the Jedi Master feels hints of excitement at the thought of plunging back into the wilder parts of space. He never was one to have roots, anyway.

West stays like this for few minutes, observing the routine of the starport and thinking back on all the ports he visited, the stars and the planets he's seen. It will be curious to visit Arkania - although part of him wishes he could go back to being a brute force somewhere on the front lines. And he most certainly doesn't look forward to teaching any kids; no matter how talented. Charlie chuckles as he thinks about the display on the landing platform: at least if his Padawan is anything like Maxwell - or the kids that stood up against him, - it will be entertaining. (But he is still not going to search for his student, thank you.)

As he keeps to the window, he contemplates waiting here until launch. He likes the feeling of the start of the journey. A new adventure, dangerous - or even not much, - is a rush of adrenaline. Charlie probably stuck on Coruscant for too long, if even the idea of an Academy brings such an impression...

Crossing into Engineering, Lark is treated to a first hand view of the heart of a starship. Organics and droids work side by side on final preparations. A human approaches 'Debbie', passing her a datapad and saying, "Chief, we're ready. Everything is in order."

With a curt nod the Devaronian shoves the pad back at the human male's chest after a quick skim of it. "Good. I'll let the bridge know." She glances back with a predatory grin at Lark, "Get the kid a seat while we wait for someone to collect him."

The dark-skimmed human gives her a quick salute even though she ignores him completely before saying to Lark, "I'm Specialist 3rd class Kormick." He gives Lark a much friendlier smile as he gestures to a station nearby, "Have a seat at my station, but don't touch any controls, okay?" He waves for Lark to follow him.

"Is that cool with you errick" while Steef looks like he doesn't like training padawans he loves it but he just wants to be a good master to them
Jul 1, 2019 1:04 am
Errad returned Steef's gaze evenly.

"Please forgive me, but I was raised in the Temple. I am not used to being informal. I find the training schedule acceptable, Mas...please, how should I refer to you?"

Lillian bows to the woman before her. "Greetings Master Kaapel. Thank you for the compliments. I will do my best to learn from you." While she is courteous in her greeting, Lillian seems to have trouble with eye contact and fidgets with her hands while speaking.

"Who said anything about reverse psychology? I only thought that you wanted to perform for everyone." Eventually they find a steward. "Ian Maxwell here is checking in."

After getting confirmation Zatee begins to lead him further into the ship. "Come along I'll show you to your quarters" Being a bit of a prankster from his youth Zatee already took the liberty of finding his Padawan's room beforehand and kindly short sheeting his bed for him.
"Well, that's right kindly of ya. I just didn' wanna be rude 'cause y'seem like a alright guy." He glances into the room, turns on the lights and on the bed is a collection of bags and . . . luggage? Jedi are not supposed to have material possessions but this Padawan seems ready to move into a college dorm. "Well, here's hopin' y'just quietly give up. I am -not- emotionally prepared for'a repeat'a my last master." He looks away but his features darken in irritation. His presence in the Force couldn't be said to darken so much as 'complain', like a cat being forced to take a bath.
Jul 1, 2019 7:39 pm
Errad brightened.

"Very well, Master Steef. Shall we begin?"
Jul 1, 2019 11:26 pm
"I'm Lark, pleasure to meet you!" The Padawan smiles at the man and moves to follow him, all the while enthusiastically looking around, eagerly taking in the sights of Main Engineering, and still not stopping his bubbly chatter. "I promise not to touch anything!" He pauses for a second, thoughtful. "Well, unless there will be some kind of emergency. I know some theory about the structure of corvettes, maybe I can help if anything happens? Although I'm much more well-versed in the theory of the starfighters! I hope I'll get to pilot one one day." The last sentence sounds wistful. "We even have some onboard here..."

As they approach the station, Lark scrupulously inspects its controls, making note of any small detail and filing away the information for later. He turns to Kormick to ask a couple of quick questions about his job, listening attentively to the answers, but then a sudden thought makes him change the subject. "Miss Debbie is the Chief Engineer, right? Do you think she will mind if I'll visit sometimes later?" He glances in the direction the Devaronian left in. "She seems nice!"

"ok lets start your first day of training your first lesson will be i know it might be weird but it's relying on your hearing is that cool with you"
Jul 2, 2019 8:38 am
Errad looked at Steef with a quizzical expression. Relying on his hearing? What did he mean by that?

"I am intrigued, Master. Please go on."
Jul 2, 2019 8:47 am
"well what i mean by that you can use your hearing as much as your eyes and use it for the same use"
Jul 2, 2019 10:19 am
"That sounds fascinating, Master. How would you like me to train that?"
Jul 2, 2019 10:24 am
Steef hands errad a piece of leather "i need you to put that piece on your eyes and use your ears just keep it for 1 day""
Jul 2, 2019 10:40 am
Errad covered his eyes with the leather strap. After a moment, he felt completely out of his element. He had not realized how much he relied on his eyes.

Errad took a few calming breaths. He ran through the centering exercises he had learned at the Temple. He could do this; he would do this.

Once he had found his center, a new world began to unfold. Slowly at first, he began to hear the sounds of the ship. He could hear the sounds of the engines going through their final checks before preparing for take off. The subtle movements of the ship settling on its docking struts whispered into his awareness. He could hear Master Steef's slow, calm breathing.

The sounds began to paint a picture in his mind and he took a hesitant step forward and then another. Errad threw his hands out to make sure he did not lose his balance. All the new sensory input was a bit overwhelming.

"Master" ,Errad said in amazement, "it is beyond explanation! I don't know if I will be able to get around like this, though..."

I'm preparing a presentation for the group on the history of Arkania and I could really use some help with the last parts of my research." Straightening her grey robes, the Echani woman lowers her voice, "And there'll be cookies, too. But don't tell anyone or the other Padawans will want some."

There's a few echoing confirmations around the engineering bay before Debbie nods and hits the comm button. "Bridge, this is Engineering. All moorings cleared, all systems go, we are secured for launch."
Jul 3, 2019 2:54 pm
"Sounds like great workplace environment," Lark peers at the controls from behind Kormick, attempting not to get in the way and at the same time see as much as he can. Ukchanak1 says:

I really hope Ian brought those himself instead of stealing them from the hanger bay . . .
Alyx blushes, biting her lip. "Yeah . . . I guess I could have unplugged them. But . . . Ian . . ." She is ashamed that the other padawan tends to rouse her anger, when the Jedi are supposed to be above that. "Anyway. I hope that I don't disappoint you, Master." It's harder for Alyx to admit, however - even to herself - that Ian also brought out her concern. Seeing him speaking so openly to his new master before they head into the ship gives her some relief.
Jul 5, 2019 6:54 pm
"He probably would have plugged them right back in." He turns to give her a small smile as they head into the Boundless, "And likewise I hope I don't disappoint you. Teaching is just as difficult as learning, I think. And I'm hardly perfect." He pauses to glance over at her, his calm, confident smile still in place, "But I -am- quite good with a lightsaber and a few other things."

As they head towards the crew quarters, he looks down in Alyx's direction again. "You seem to have a personal . . . rivalry? With Padawan Maxwell. Most others denounced his behavior but you took action. Which is good. Actions speak clearer than words. I believe."

Alyx walks with Kaine onto the ship, nodding goodbye to Knight Catalia with a tiny smile. "I guess so. Talking to him has never done much. The only way to effect him seems to be nipping his behavior in the bud." She clearly has more inside of her, as her expression is torn, but she tries to hold back, having trouble meeting Kaine's eyes. "Everyone talks like he's a lost cause. I don't think giving up on people is very Jedi-like."

Okay, so we will have another player jumping in. Im going to say they made it on board before the Boundless takes off just because that's easier.
"Landing Pad 37804 to Boundless, you are cleared for launch." The control tower has already cleared air traffic on the lane of departure. The large ship rises up smoothly on its repulsor lifts, carrying it up to a safe altitude of one hundred meters before the sublight engines engage. With a bright flare the Boundless rockets up through the atmosphere and breaks orbit, on its way out of the Coruscant gravity well.

Below the ship there are countless, endless points of light, the surface of the city world more dotted with illumination than even the sky of a core world. Outside the bright lights of tens of thousands of nearby stars and even the massive quasar at the galaxy's center are visible.

Jul 8, 2019 4:47 pm
Charlie breathes in deeply, lost for a moment in the sight of countless lights around the ship. The space is magical, never losing its charm to him even after all of the travels. It contains power incomparable, fascinating, and it will exist if not forever, then way beyond time of anything else.

Smiling to himself, Charlie turns away from the window and looks around. Most of the crew seem to have left this corridor, but he can see a small group to his left, which he heads over to - maybe he can just ask where if the training grounds, or at least a suitable space for his practice.

When he approaches, however, he notices Steef. "Hey! Already growing weary of teaching duty?" He friendly bumps shoulders with the Knight. "Or did your student decided to go AWOL?"

Fancy keeping me company, if you're not busy?" He nods at Steef's lightsaber. "Maybe improptu spar? Or we can just grab some lunch at the cafeteria..." He scratches his beard in thought. "Spar first, lunch then? I like the way you're thinking!" Charlie grins, and nods towards the smaller corridor to the side. I have a set of survival-themed ones, but some of them are much more horror than survival - apparently for producers there are not enough monsters in the galaxy on its own. And as for other Masters..." Charlie shrugs. "I haven't seen any of them - except you - since the meeting, but if any of 'em are here, why not? But something tells me, we'd have better luck inviting Padawans than Masters."
OOC:
Shall we move threads? :D

"Okay, new plan!" Charlie pauses in his steps and points at Steef. "You go invite the Padawans, I'll go stash my weapons, grab the disks and maybe invite other Masters on the way by. We can meet up in the area in-between - I think there is a shared lounge between the Master's and Padawan's Quarters - with whoever decides to join. I'd invite the ship's crew too, but I'm afraid that would be intervening with their work..." West looks at Steef. "Sounds good?"
OOC:
...can we actually have a Jedi movie night? I hope we can. XD

"Common lounge might be better, I'm not actually sure if Padawans are allowed in Masters's Quarters... Although I guess they can come as out guests? Each ship usually has its own policy on these things." He hums in thought. "Well, they all are in the same part of the ship anyway."
OOC:
I'm assuming there is a shared lounge somewhere in the living sector. XD

"i will go and get the padawans but one last thing do you think that the padawans like horror ?"

"No accounting for the taste! But we can always pick something not very heavy," Charlie waves his hand nonchalantly. "Pseudo-documentaries about mystical monsters of the galaxy and the sort? Even label it as cultural research part of the teaching program - or a theoretical lesson about how fear affects minds. In any case, they might not even want to join." He claps Steef on the shoulder. "I'll pick a few disks, we'll see who shows up. Anyway, let's meet up later!"
OOC:
Charlie is going to the Masters's Quarters.
