Padawan's Quarters - Crew Quarters B

OOC:
This thread is for the Padawan's section of the ship, including their quarters and lounge.

Ukchanak1 says:
Alyx walks with Kaine onto the ship, nodding goodbye to Knight Catalia with a tiny smile. "I guess so. Talking to him has never done much. The only way to effect him seems to be nipping his behavior in the bud." She clearly has more inside of her, as her expression is torn, but she tries to hold back, having trouble meeting Kaine's eyes. "Everyone talks like he's a lost cause. I don't think giving up on people is very Jedi-like."
Entering the lounge that is nearest the Padawan quarters, Knight Kaine pauses to turn towards Alyx. "You seem to have a strong interest in Padawan Maxwell." He smiles a bit in a kindly manner. His voice still a quiet rumble. "He seems quite . . . creative. I hope Knight Zatee is able to harness that. If you want I can ask him to speak with you on the matter or you can give your ideas to me to present to him"
Jul 5, 2019 11:03 pm
She looks surprised, then glances away. "Oh, no, that's alright. I don't really have a lot of ideas," she flushes, looking uncomfortable. "So," she tries to change the subject, "what do we do now? What do you think a padawan should do to become a knight?"
Jul 5, 2019 11:13 pm
"To be ready to enact swift action that simultaneously is for the betterment of the most beings while also being mindful of consequences beyond the current circumstances." he pauses for a moment with a look of wry amusement. "If it takes you a while, don't feel bad. I didn't pick it up very quickly at all." He glances down to the training saber on her belt, "But in the short term I want to focus on lightsaber skills. The Juyo style is my specialty." Juyo: a dangerously aggressive style that is not commonly employed by the Jedi as it focuses on offense and unrelenting attacks. Not as flashy as Ataru or as balanced as Makashi, Juyo is a style with a singular purpose: overwhelm your opponent, break their morale and defenses and leave them at your mercy.

OOC:
Reposting from the main thread since this should go here.
Nightghoul16 says:
"Who said anything about reverse psychology? I only thought that you wanted to perform for everyone." Eventually they find a steward. "Ian Maxwell here is checking in."

After getting confirmation Zatee begins to lead him further into the ship. "Come along I'll show you to your quarters" Being a bit of a prankster from his youth Zatee already took the liberty of finding his Padawan's room beforehand and kindly short sheeting his bed for him.
"Well, that's right kindly of ya. I just didn' wanna be rude 'cause y'seem like a alright guy." He glances into the room, turns on the lights and on the bed is a collection of bags and . . . luggage? Jedi are not supposed to have material possessions but this Padawan seems ready to move into a college dorm. "Well, here's hopin' y'just quietly give up. I am -not- emotionally prepared for'a repeat'a my last master." He looks away but his features darken in irritation. His presence in the Force couldn't be said to darken so much as 'complain', like a cat being forced to take a bath.
OOC:
And adding to it to keep things going.
Glancing back out into the corridor, Ian spots Alyx with Knight Kaine, bringing a mischevious twinkle to his eyes. Giving Zatee a friendly grin he goes to clap him on the shoulder. "So. Good talk but if it's all the same, I'd like ta get settled an all that stuff." Is he trying to dismiss his master? Yes. Yes he is.
Jul 12, 2019 1:54 am
Alyx nods, looking a bit skeptical of his description. "Okay, that sounds like a memorized phrase," she points out. "But sure." She gives a sideways frown, bored with the idea of "lightsaber training" when she's already pretty good at it. "Juyo would be interesting," she admits, "but I'm more interested in why the Jedi aren't doing more to help the galaxy as a whole." She looks up from the ground and gives him a flinty blue-eyed stare.

"B'cause," a familiar, gravelly voice says from the doorway of one of the Padawan's rooms. "The Jedi've more or less abandoned their roots of itinerant wanderin's an instead focus on one'a influence within the Republic." The Padawan slips by Knight Zatee and inserts himself into what was -clearly- a private conversation. "Now, some merit may be granted ta such a policy. While it is true that'the Jedi of current times are less independent than Orders past they have traded that independence for'a chance ta change policies on'a galactic level, hopin' that the Senate will b'come as dependent upon the Jedi as the Jedi have b'come on them." He gestures at the ship around them, as if their presence on a Republic vessel, dispatched entirely for their convenience and use, makes his point for him.

It was true that Nathan had prepared his answer ahead of time. It was just common sense to try and have some answers ready, after all. He had just been about to answer when Padawan Maxwell interrupts with a spiel that somehow sounds even more rehearsed that his own but had to be spontaneous. "The Republic is a force for good in the galaxy, one that promotes freedom and equality." He frowns slightly, glancing at the walls of the lounge as if seeing the ship in a new light, "The Jedi are not pawns of the Republic, however."

With a sigh, then a smile, Alyx gestures. "Ian, this is Knight Kaine. Master, this is Ian Maxwell. He's good at stirring things up. But he does have some good points." The tiny brunette looks between the two men. "I guess I'm in the middle. I think that you're both right. But the Jedi should exist to render aid where the Republic can't. And I've yet to see much evidence that the Jedi are very concerned about the suffering outside of Republic space."

Alyx gestures to the comfortable chairs and low tables of the lounge area they are standing in. "Why don't we sit down and we can talk about it?"
Jul 13, 2019 12:57 am
With a sigh of relief, Ian drops into one of the chairs, putting his feet up on the table. At a disapproving look from Nathan, the long-haired Padawan gestures and pulls over a pillow to put under his feet, giving the taller, bigger Knight a challenging look.

"Are you testing me?" Knight Kaine asks with a bemused irritation. His blue eyes narrow at the younger human. "Is that what you plan on doing with Knight Ros?"

With a snort Ian instead looks to Alyx. "So y'said the Jedi should be doin' more ta protect those outside Republic space. I grew up on'a Hutt controlled planet, maself."
Jul 13, 2019 1:03 am
"yeah, i don't know," Alyx shrugs, looking uncomfortable. "I just feel like, if the Republic is doing so well that the Jedi can afford to sit around and make pottery or whatever Knight Koppel does all day," she snerks, "then maybe we should be helping people not in the Republic."

The door to the Padawan's quarters slid open. A thud was heard followed by a hiss. Errad walked through the open doorway rubbing his head with one hand and reaching out blindly with the other.

"I hope I found the right place this time" ,Errad said, the strip of leather still blinding his eyes, "I thought that crewer was going to have my hide. I heard the steam; I thought it was still the engine deck. Who'd have thought I had walked into one of the refreshers."

Errad stopped walking and cocked his head. He could hear other beings breathing. He sighed.

"Now, I've been caught talking to myself. Great..." ,he muttered before speaking to the room, "if I've walked into another refresher, bunk room, or private quarters, I sincerely apologize. My Master is making me walk around like this and I have not quite perfected the exercise. If you would please be kind enough to tell me where I am, I would be grateful. If I am not supposed to be here, I will leave directly. There is no need for violence."
Jul 13, 2019 8:15 am
Zambar enters the room his nose in his book He says hello to everyone he sits and continue reading
Jul 13, 2019 11:44 am
Clearing his throat quietly, Ian pitches his voice as high as it will go, which is not very high, sounding surprised and angry he calls out, "Hey! What the hell are you doing in the women's showers! You pervert!"

Rolls

Deceit

8 + [ 5 ] - [ 4 ] = 9
Jul 13, 2019 11:54 am
"wow there is a lot of men in the women showers im gonna go out"
Jul 13, 2019 12:07 pm
"What?! Oh, kriff. Sorry!"

Errad spun quickly and bashed his face into the wall hard. He stumbled back and fell in a heap. Blood leaked from his nose. It ran wetly down his face. He crawled back into the hallway.

"That's it. I'm done!" ,he said, yanking the leather strap from his eyes, "what kind of kriffing training is this?! It's kriffing torture! I can't take this...anymore..."

Errad collapsed into frustrated sobs. He did not care who saw him. He had reached the end of his endurance.

He thought he'd been doing well. Sure, he ran into a few walls, but he thought he was getting it. He was sure he'd been getting it.

Nothing like this had ever happened before. Everything at the Temple had been easy. All he'd had to do was apply himself and he'd been rewarded with praise and encouraged to do more.

This was different. Despite putting everything into it, he'd still gotten lost. Not only that, but he'd embarrassed himself and his Master. Nothing could make this right. Nothing.
Jul 13, 2019 12:18 pm
Zambar goes and follow Errad he sees him bleeding and on the floor he asks him "Are you ok you are bleeding"
Jul 13, 2019 3:25 pm
Letting out a peak of raucous laughter, in his normal scratchy baritone, Ian leans back in his chair and covers his face. "Oh, oh man. That was beautiful," he wheezes as he laughs some more, easily audible in the corridors. "Life holds so much joy . . ." He says, trailing off quietly.

With an irritated look Nathan stands up, frowning at Ian, "Just because you're able to laugh at yourself doesn't mean everyone else is." heading to the door, the almost giant sized human gives Errad a kindly frown of concern. "It's not the women's shower. It's the Padawan's lounge. The Force led you to the correct place. Trust in it and you won't be deceived by others." Offering a hand to Errad he gestures towards the lounge with the other hand, "My Padawan is grilling me on philosophy and moral imperative. You'd do well to get involved."

Returning to the lounge he fixes his blue eyes on Alyx, "If you want to talk policy, then you might be better served speaking to the High Council. I am merely a Knight but it strikes me that this Academy on Arkania is meant to do exactly as you suggest. We will be outside Republic space, neither reliant on or beholden to the Republic." He smiles softly as he gestures around them, "Well, except for the ship that Ian just described as a leash around our necks instead of an opportunity."
Jul 13, 2019 5:05 pm
"Ian just agrees with whatever position will make you more angry," Alyx warns. At least until he trusts you, she muses to herself. "In any case, I hope you're right. I'd really like to help some people who really need it. We in the Republic are truly blessed with a great deal that we take for granted. We Jedi deprive ourselves by choice: but there are many that are starving to death because they are enslaved, or their resources are being stolen from them by pirates." Her voice rises as a harsh tone grows. "Even on Coruscant, there were poor that the Republic was ignoring, and we Jedi were not allowed to help them. Instead we were invited to meetings and diplomatic parties, to act frivolous, and mediate stupid disagreements."

Her disgusted expression flickers when she realizes everyone is staring at her. "Anyway. It's just wrong."

"Fuck yeah it's wrong." Ian gives Alyx a nod of respect and a gentle punch of agreement before he levels his finger at Knight Kaine and Knight Ros, "Y'all had best bring yer A games if ha hope ta have'a chance at gainin' our trust." He gestures between him and Alyx before glancing over at the Zabrak girl. "Well, me at least. Definitely me."
Jul 13, 2019 11:38 pm
Errad took the Master's hand and pulled himself up. He wiped his face smearing blood and tears trying to clean himself up as best as he could on the sleeve of his robes. At least some here were not completely against him.

"Thank you, Master" ,Errad said, nodding toward Zambar, "and thank you for your concern, padawan. I realize I still have a long way to go."

Errad looked back to Master Nathan and bowed.

"I will take your advice to heart, Master, and better trust my instincts in the future."

Errad finished cleaning his face. He looked at the other padawan in the room. He wanted to be angry with Ian, but his prank had pointed out a fundamental weakness in Errad's development. The prankster had inadvertently done him a great service.

Errad smiled at Ian and nodded. Then he looked at Alyx.

"I'm sorry, I missed most of this conversation. You mentioned something about the Jedi not being allowed to help people. That does not make any sense. Rendering aid is one of the Jedi's core mandates."
Jul 14, 2019 12:49 am
"Aid to the Republic," Alyx corrects him. "Unless we've been kept in the dark about missions the Jedi take outside of Republic space . . ." She looks at Knight Kaine expectantly.
Jul 17, 2019 2:56 am
"You," Knight Kaine informs Alyx with an amused but forceful tone, "Have yet to even undertake your Trials to officially become a Padawan. I assure you there are innumerable missions that take place outside Republic space that are hidden from you."

Sitting up, Ian scowls at Knight Kaine, jabbing a finger in his direction, voice almost combative as he narrows his indigo eyes at the much, much bigger Knight. "Hey, save the condescending bullshit for someone dumber than you."

The minor outburst causes Knight Kaine to frown sharply at Ian before a moment before he sighs and turns his attention entirely to Alyx, as if the offending Padawan no longer existed. "To address your question correctly the Jedi is an organization with access to nearly unlimited resources, except for personnel. There are ten thousand of us, give or take. A number so woefully inadequate that it's almost a joke. Ten thousand who exist entirely on charitable donations and a budget gifted to us by the Senate. If we want ships and supplies and information we need to be on good terms with the Republic. Would most Jedi be up for a full on invasion of Nar Shadaa to free every slave in Hutt Space? Absolutely. Would the Republic continue to support us if we started a private war with the second largest government in the galaxy? Absolutely -not-."
Jul 17, 2019 4:28 pm
"Thank you, Master," Alyx nods. "That kind of information is all that we're asking for." She glances over at Ian, then back to Kaine. "I understand that when we joined, we were all children too young to understand things. But if we're going to become Knights someday, I think we deserve to know what's really going on. I mean, who knows? Maybe we young people might have some ideas that you guys haven't thought of yet." She frowns. "I know it's been a long time since you were an apprentice, but you might have forgotten how frustrating it is to be told that you're supposed to be helping people, and yet all you do is sit around meditating and eating salad."

Errad looked from Master Kaine to Alyx. He could not believe what he was hearing. Surely that could not be true.

"But...but..that can't be true" ,Errad blurted, completely forgetting the composure he'd been trying to regain, "the Jedi would never compromise their ideals for 'resources'. That is absurd!"
Jul 19, 2019 2:09 am
As Knight Kaine turns to Errad to further explain he sits up in surprise as Padawan Maxwell cuts him off, "Hey, man," the long haired Padawan begins sharply, "The Jedi are in a mess, okay? You think ten thousand would be enough ta even do anything ta one planet? Havin' ta make deals with the Republic ain' ideal but it works. I have -problems- with how'the Council does things but at least they -act-." He points around the room at Knight Kaine and Alyx, "An you'll never hear me say otherwise."
Jul 20, 2019 6:08 pm
Alyx rolls her eyes, unaffected by either Errad's gasping shock nor Ian's angry tirade. "Okay, calm down," she waves her hands at them. "Ian, I know it's been a while since you got to give a good speech, but try to breathe in-between sentences."

She smiles at him, though, and gives Errad an understanding look. "Errad, sometimes life sucks and you have to make a choice between two things you want. Maybe there are better ways to do this. But . . . I mean besides letting Jedi get married and have kids," she says offhand, giving Master Kaine a sly look, "we won't be getting a fast and flush infusion of Jedi any time soon."

Steef enters the padawan quarters "Anyone wants to watch some movie with me and Master Charlie ?"
Jul 26, 2019 8:36 am
Errad bowed to his Master, then remembered Master Steef did not stand on formality. He struggled to cover his bow and look casual. He failed miserably.

"Hello, Master Steef",Errad said,"I would enjoy watching a holovid with you and Master West. Is it something to do with our training?"

Steef shrugs Errad bow"no just for fun and where is you're eye band ?"

Errad choked. He'd forgotten to replace it after the earlier incident. He retrieved it from his robes and quickly tied it back in place.

"I'm sorry, Master. There was an incident and I...I forgot to replace it. It will not happen again."
Jul 26, 2019 10:27 am
"an incident what happened are you ok ?"
Jul 27, 2019 5:53 pm
"I am fine, Master Steef",Errad said, his shame and frustration returning a little bit, "I bumped into a wall and thought I was somewhere I was not. Master Kaine said I should trust my instincts better. I guess I am just doubting myself. I will work on it, Master."

As all of you are talking, the Boundless shudders under your feet, the tell-tale sign of a hyperspace jump as your journey finally begins. However, you sense a mild disturbance in the Force as you sense several Jedi leave the ship and several new ones arrive. A most unusual occurrence, to say the least.

With a sound of clanking metal and something heavy colliding with a door, Lark manages to make his way into the lounge of the Padawans's Quarters. He is carrying a big storage crate in his hands, partially obscuring his vision, and he lowers it down a little to peer at the room, taking in the surroundings. He frowns a little and rolls his eyes as he notices Ian and Alyx, looks over Zambar and his book with vague interest and then beams as he seems Errad - the other Padawan talking with a tall Jedi, supposedly his Master.
Lark makes a beeline for Errad, stopping near the two Jedi and putting his container down. "Hey again!" He squints at Errad. "Are you okay? You don't look too hot. Oh, and hello, Master..."he drags the sentence, clearly not knowing the name of the older Jedi.
Jul 30, 2019 11:22 am
"oh hey do you want to watch a movie with me and master west?"
Jul 30, 2019 2:23 pm
"Tch," Ian says in a friendly voice as they're interrupted by Steef. "You want us ta watch holos with you?" His eyes narrow in sarcastic glee at Knight Steef, "So what is it? A documentary, a historical documentary or a biography?" He chuckles before he watches with some confusion as his assigned knight goes to leave after a brief comm call.

Kaine, however stands and offers a small bow to Steef, "I think that would be fine. I'm glad that someone brought a few temple approved holos on board." He looks to the assembled Padawans, "It's not mandatory but I would like to see everyone participating in group activities."
Jul 30, 2019 3:17 pm
"just a movie for fun nothing have to be a documentary ian"
Jul 31, 2019 1:49 am
Alyx sighs, shaking her head. "Knight Steef, sorry about Ian. He's jaded. To be honest, I was kind of feeling that way, too," she smiles and looks between Steef and Kaine. "But I think maybe we were wrong. The Force does work in mysterious ways," she says, quoting the only Master they had liked on Courescant. "A movie sounds nice. The trip is supposed to be long."

Glancing up at her master, Alyx smiles with a slight wince, hoping he will forgive her crusty attitude from before. "Are you going to watch, too?"

Errad smiled back, hearing Lark's voice. Through all of his focus being on the task Master Steef gave to him, he had forgotten about the other padawan.

"If it is alright, Master, I would also like to view the holocvid, or would you prefer I just listen to it?"

He said this without any kind venom. He had resigned himself to the exercise. He would perfect it no matter what.

...I'm not sure that Charlie's movies are temple approved. XD
Lark clicks his tongue as he watches the exchange between Errad and Steef. "Well, this explains the blindfold at least..." he mumbles to himself, while moving to pick the crate back up, and then turns back to the Knight, answering the earlier question: "I'd love to join in, Master Steef. I'll just move this box to my room, and will catch up with everyone else later. I wonder if there's any popcorn anywhere on the ship..." He pauses, looking as if he is seriously considering looking for popcorn, but then shakes his head and smiles. "Anyway, I'll be back in a moment! Please excuse me." He makes a quick half-bow, and then quickly strolls away in search of his room.

Looking off to the side, Ian gives a small, considering frown. "Okay, Knight Steef. A holo. I am willin' ta give you a chance. But if we walk in there and it's somethin' like an animated rathrak protectin' her family from an animated farmer or some drek like that, I will never trust you again." The sly smirk on his face belies the grave tone that he employs. "Ever."

There is no emotion, there is peace, Knight Kaine thinks to himself as he maintains his outward calm. Inwardly he begins to realize just why Padawan Maxwell might be chasing off his instructors. "Lark, you can catch up. As I understand it, you all have your own bunks here instead of sharing them with roommates. Likewise the Academy grounds on Arkania are going to be wide enough for each of you to enjoy your own room. Alright, everyone, let's see what Knight Steef and Knight Charlie have planned, shall we?" With that he gestures towards the door, leading them towards the Master's lounge.

"Sure," Ian says with a casual shrug, "This'll either be a dauntin' rejection of temple doctrines or'a complete an total disaster with some edutainment crap. Either way, I don' wanna miss it." He snickers slightly and laces his hands behind his neck, giving a glance back at Alyx and the others before heading out.

I didn't find if Jedi had tablets. :D
After depositing his container into the room and briefly making sure that all the scrap and parts are in it and he didn't grab the wrong box, Lark takes a moment to relax and think back on the last couple of hours. Humming under his nose, he picks up a small display pad and makes a few notes on it - primarily technical information on the landing pad's bots and all the things he saw in Main Engineering. Satisfied, he decides to leave more detailed describing and analysis for the later, and returns back to the lounge.

"I'm back!" Lark announces it mostly for Errad's benefit, ignoring the others and heading straight for his new acquaintance. "I see that your Master left - may I ask what this all is about? The blindfold, I mean." He looks at the exit, then lowers his voice, somewhat hesitant. "...Do you need any help navigating?"

Errad watched the others leave. He would do better. He would prove himself to Master Steef. He replaced the blindfold over his eyes.

"Thank you, Lark" ,Errad said, looking for the younger padawan's voice, "I would really appreciate your help getting me there. The blindfold is my first assignment from Master Steef and I am failing at it spectacularly. "
Aug 5, 2019 10:32 pm
"You managed to get here, that's gotta count for something!" Grinning, Lark wraps his arm around Errad's. "Hold on, and I'll lead you to victory! Over the assignment." He jokingly salutes Alyx and Zambar, and heads over to the exit, making sure to adjust his steps so it's easier for Errad to follow.

"You know, since we parted, I managed to find the Main Engineering! Watching the launch in here was amazing! I've never before seen a fusion reactor so close. The power! It's fascinating to imagine what technological wonder are yet to be discovered..."

I suppose we can make our way to Masters' Quarters? :D
