Wiki's face is split in an evil grin. Open her laptop and target the security cameras and the recording server with a massive DDoS attack. The goal is to destroy the security camera system and the recorded video of a paradox explosion.
OOC:
Her Nature is Hacker, and if I recall right, by playing on your Nature and Demeanor you can regain Willpower. I'm at work and don't have access to the book right now. If true, the one willpower regained will be used for an extra success
There is also something about stat specialization (creative intelligence) that could come into play, but I don't remember how

Edit: Wow! I kind of hope that the specialization can lower the DC or something

Wiki knows the backdoors, having already traced the protocols for the network. Not only that, but she had also traced the Technocracy's sniffers, so knows how to go around undetected. Erasing the files and disabling the cameras without leaving a digital footprint is accomplished easily. Leaving a DDOS trail is more time consuming but accomplished straightforwardly by leaving fake network activity data in the log files.
OOC:
Hacker - Regain Willpower when you detect a flaw in some
important structure, system, or device, or else when you
puzzle out a way to improve something that was supposedly
designed well to begin with.
Wiki can regain 3 Willpower for effecting this beneath the watching eyes of the Technocracy.
OOC:
in Mage 20, Specialties allow you to count each rolled 10s as 2 successes, so that doesn't help.

OOC:
are we supposed to know that it's the technocrats who controls the building? Or is it something that Wiki recognises from her library
Sep 13, 2019 4:35 pm
OOC:
Wiki had found advanced technology programs monitoring the system when hacking earlier. That's the only indication that the technocracy may be involved.

After Wiki had neutralised the cameras, Esther took her time to familiarise herself with her exact surroundings. With no rush, she closed her eyes and began looking backward at the events of the past minutes, to see if she could add any further detail to what Wiki had retrieved. In the timescape of her mind's eye, she found that she could stand at the exact spots where the entire incident took place, to review everything, paying particular attention to the strange man who vaporised the SWAT team.

Conner watches Esther with extreme interest at this point, under the impression her form of magic not that different from his own. Though not wanting to interrupt just pick up anything he could deem useful from the magician.

"I just walked through exactly what we saw on Wiki's playback. That man blew up reality as we know it, at least for that moment anyway, and that was the backlash. I saw his eyes," here Esther paused, then continued, "crazy, loony, loco, off his rocker, non compos mentis, if you know what I mean. The backlash didn't affect him at all."

"Still don't know what he came for. I don't think he came all the way just for a golem, or a new car." Esther tried a half-hearted attempt at humour, surrounded as they were by gory remains.

Conner pauses for a moment before trying his own attempt at investigation. So he didn't seem to care about any back firing of his spell? looking at Esther.
Sep 14, 2019 4:23 pm
"Nope. In fact it looked like he was counting on it to blow up the room."
Sep 14, 2019 4:34 pm
Love that for us then, with that Conner lights a cig and starts puffing.

Mordecai listens to the back-and-forth between the others. He strokes his chin in thought. "There are a few different ways someone could mitigate or shunt that kind of backlash." The rabbi’s volume drops, and he speaks in more hushed tones, as though conveying a secret. "I always assume the Amalekites - what you goyim call the Technocracy - is behind everything because, well, let’s be honest, it usually is. But I’m starting to worry that this might be something else..."

The old man, normally stoic, begins to wring his hands. He mutters to himself in Hebrew.

רב אשר מאבד את הגולם שלו לא מגיע להמציא את החוכמה הסודית.

"A rabbi who loses his golem isn’t fit to wield the secret wisdom..."

Could you make another golem? Conner asks out of genuine concern but it could come off ignorant.
Sep 16, 2019 8:44 am
"I also think these crazy ones aren't the Technos. They're lost mages, gone off the cliff, never coming back. Everything they do is just so, vulgar." Esther waited for Connor and Mordecai to do what it was they were going to do next.

Wiki is clearly uncomfortable, being in at the scene of the crime.
Could we get out of here? Trouble is sure to come
Sep 16, 2019 3:02 pm
Agreed. I think a discreet exit is in order. I don't want to be here when whoever shows up makes their entrance. Especially if it's the same guy.
Sep 16, 2019 3:47 pm
"But he's left dearie. Unless you're saying he came because he was after one or more of us in the first place, and will come back because we've returned." Esther asked everyone to consider the implications. "Was he here just to steal a golem, or something else? If something else, we gotta figure out what that is. And this place is our only lead for figuring it out at the moment."
Sep 16, 2019 6:32 pm
Mordecai looks at Connor, clearly shocked that the mage would suggest such a thing. "I cannot buy another Schlomo at Walmart. It is an instrument of divine justice; a defender of the Jewish people! I must do all I can to recover it..."

The rabbi looks at everyone. "Give me a moment to cross the Gauntlet. Maybe I can at least verify if the stranger left by moving to another sephira."

Even with the state of the room, Mordecai carefully kneels on the ground. He removes his hat and grabs several tefillin from his coat pockets. These little black boxes, attached to ribbons, are phylacteries containing pieces of the Holy Torah. He ties one tefillah to his forehead, and another to each of his biceps. He then closes his eyes and mutters to himself in ancient Hebrew.
OOC:
I’m going to step sideways into the Gauntlet. It’s a Spirit 3 effect. As a Vulgar effect with no sleeper witnesses (and the camera off), the difficulty is 7, I believe.

This should be fun, looking over at wiki, actually you know any technocrats or just have a fun past?

OOC:
In order to step sideways, based upon a urban setting, Mordecai needs 4 successes with a difficulty 4. However, not all is at it appears.
Mordecai steps sideways, vanishing...
