Okay so I have a few long term plans for the actual game, preferable GMs would be expected to be able to play their characters as if not knowing about these plans though. If you are opposed to this, this would be the point to mention it.

Fantastic, if you're still here im assuming you're fine with it, so currently I have set up the three intro missions to introduce some bigger plots;

Heat Signature, is the start of an alien invasion, they give their own super powers, but can retain the powers of other supers, known as Parasites, I am thinking about using some of our now gone players for these story lines later.

Guard Duty, there is a larger group / organization attempting to train regular people to go toe to toe with supers, think kind of Illuminati, league of Assassins, or knight templar, but eventually the idea is they will be attempting to control or discredit the supers in some way.

Danger room this is a machine meant to eventually over come man kind, definitely age of ultron feel to it, or the sentinels, made to protect humanity, it will decide that humanity is more of a danger to itself then anything else, and attempt to create its own nation, and then decides supers are the next biggest issue with humanity, and decides to remove them. This is meant to be the most immediate concern, but will go long term as well.

Now I would love some filler to add in, and any help you guys can give to the big story lines as well.

I can see a super intelligent AI using the alien invasion as a distraction while it consolidates power. Perhaps it can assist the aliens in some way, knowing the supers will likely defeat them, all the while studying both the aliens and supers so it is prepared to defeat whichever side is the victor.

I imagine the AI would also infiltrate the Illuminati / League of Assassins group, possibly through human agent intermediaries. Once they are known and trusted, they might eventually reveal their connection to the AI, showing how it has helped overcome so many supers so far, and how it clearly has been programmed to serve the best interest of mankind.

The team could find clues pointing to an earthly conspirator when fighting the alien invasion. These might point to people involved in the Illuminati, which in turn would have more clues pointing to the AI, the eventual BBEG.

The AI, once it has attained sentience, has been assimilating various programs and experiments over years and is constantly recompiling itself. The Danger Room is a small side program it assimilated. This is it's first attempt to directly interface with supers. It's power and influence will grow over time.

Just some ideas, feel free to use what you like and discard the rest. I have a thing for combining plot lines.

It might be cool if we also reveal later that the AI first thought to protect humanity by forcing it to evolve beyond it's current state. It could be behind the creation of most superheroes, early attempts at making humans self-sufficient. But when it saw their pettiness and self-centered nature, the duality of their secret identities instead of what it envisioned as the first steps in a new breed, it cancelled its own program. It's not responsible for ALL supers, but it could be responsible for Resonance, T-9000, Super Soldier, Blinker, the tech that created Pugnisher...

I love all of these actually, I think I will make it so the AI's first body gets destroyed giving our first kinda lower end boss, and then will move forward more with the aliens.

For those of you, does anyone have a short one off to 3 mission storyline they would like to attempt, I would love little mini archs for the team to go through as well.

It might be fun to use some NPCs from different characters' backgrounds. A couple examples are below...

- Solar has Storm Thrower and Vindictus. We could create a plot masterminded by Vindictus and only have him revealed once Solar is involved.

- T-9000 would have probably an ally/enemy from the future, and be wanted by anyone with potential plans for his advanced tech. We could make some sort of tech company that wants to exploit T-9000.

Oh, also I was thinking... a bit of a longer story arc that could run through several related missions (and possibly even be related to one of your major plot points):

I was thinking of a plot with minor super villains, new and inexperienced with their powers, maybe former gang members or someone minor tied to a PCs background. These should be real low level, easily defeated, and as they are busted for minor crimes, clues (from blood samples, power types, things they slip up and say during interrogation, etc.) link them back to a retired former villain who developed tech that could grant super powers. If they search for him they find him retired after having served his time, living an average life. His surrendered his tech when he was arrested and hasn't developed more, content to stay on the straight and narrow. His tech was confiscated by law enforcement, but if the PCs investigate, they find it was transferred as evidence by a government order. It was sent to a facility where the government tried to use it to develop powered soldiers. When the program was cancelled, the tech was left there, and recently reactivated by persons unknown (the AI from your main plot point?) and criminals were diverted here instead of to prison to undergo transformation into super villains. Clues here can link this to organized crime, gangs, the military, and possibly even the AI.

These are all really great ideas! I like the AI idea, maybe it's sentence is triggered by the introduction of alien technology. I also like the idea of the aliens granting superpowers to small-time gangs to make trouble, and the COPS granting themselves powers with the supervillain's confiscated machine to even the odds, except with the powers come behavioural mods conducive to villainy, and subservience to the retired villain... What a temptation to come out of retirement when the army has built itself? Now there minor supers on three fronts coming at you, and the Aliens haven't even landed yet!

Wow! These are some great ideas! I love the idea of tying these all together.

I've never run a PBP game, but I'll try to think of something low level for the team to enjoy.

Sorry, life keeps throwing metaphoric wrenches in my figurative works. I'm going to do my best to read and see if I can help with ideas. Please message me if I can help. I'll try to be around more, but this seems to be one of those things that just sucks up your time ad infinitum.
