August 18 - 10.00 AM – Wellington cave

When the sea withdraws to its lowest tide, the group enters the cave again.
The tunnel goes northwest towards the hills. As they walk through, the group feels again the icy sea breeze. The ground tilts slightly downwards, so that the group descends deeper below the sea level as it walks through.
When the cave becomes wider, the echo of the music returns, along with the sound of flowing waters in the distance.

The same music: suave, but discordant at the same time. The three investigators finds the melody so enjoyable and relaxing, comunicating something to them, something they cannot explain.
Aug 20, 2019 2:59 am
I carefully mark the wall of the cave with an arrow in chalk pointing back to the entrance.

"This one's just for practice."

To the others, "Let's proceed cautiously, I'm starting to think this may not be a simple kidnapping for ransom, what with the other tikes gone missing, but whatever is going on. I don't think it is good." Michael draws his service revolver and proceeds toward the music.

As they keep walking, the music gets higher, and the investigators feel like a strange flow running throughout
the whole body, giving them a sense of lightness and well-being, which makes them willing to forget about anything else.

At some point, other sounds add to the music. The group clearly hears splashes and feminine laughter, and the sounds become stronger as the investigators walk on.

The tunnel ends in the East wall of a larger hall-like cave. The cave is about one hundred feet wide (from East wall to West wall) and two hundred long (from South wall to North wall). The ceiling is forty feet above the ground and is fully covered with stalactites. There are two big circular pools filled of stagnant water, whose diameter is about eighty feet.
The two pools lie in the North and South half of the cave, respectively, and an array of stalagmites, up to six feet high, lie in the space between the two pools.

An oil lantern placed on the cave floor is lighting the ambiance near the North pool. Along with the lantern, there´s a small pile of clothes. Three human bodies move inside the North pool, projecting shadows at the wall cave.
Aug 26, 2019 8:59 pm
Michael tries to remain in the shadows, motionless, and watching and listening for a few moments, trying to determine more about the figures and pinpoint the source of the music.

As their eyes get used to the dim light of the lamp, The investigators see some details of the cave.
There is another opening in the cave, placed at thirty feet from the ground on the West wall.
There are two objects on the floor between the two pools, among the stalagmites, a dozen feet from the investigators. One is a rifle, the other is a small wooden crocifix.

There are vapors coming out of the waters, like a kind of thermal bath. The people in the pool also become clearer, as the vapors coming out of dissolve in the air. There are three young women . They look naked, even thought the lower part of their body, including genitals, is under the water of the pool. All of them are incredibly beautiful, their profile and features are harmonious and simply perfect, like Greek statues.

The music continues, now is stronger and seems to be everywhere. No apparent source is visible anywhere. The three feel enormously attracted by the people in the pool. The music and beauty of the people lights up an immediate sexual desire.
Aug 27, 2019 8:04 pm
Michael tries to resist the desire, he holsters his gun and plugs his ears, trying to ignore the music, as he crouches and creeps toward the gun and crucifix. He also tries to get a better look at the west wall, see if there are any footholds, a ladder, or other means of descending from/ascending to that opening. If he reaches the gun and crucifix, he will examine them and the nearby area.

Going towards the pool, the air becomes warmer. As the investigators approach further, they cannot hel but stare at the three women, so that they almost forget about anything else. One of the women turn to the group. She smiles and slightly moves his finger inviting them to enter. They call with a laughing sweet chorus.

"Come here.... come....."

The music continues, now is stronger and seems to be everywhere. When the people in the pool speak, their words seem to accompany the music sublimely.

Oh no I can't help staring at them. I am getting so many naughty feelings. I hear Michael and plug my ears, shaking my head.
Sep 1, 2019 5:41 pm
As Emond and Binghampton also plug their hears the music stops.
The women bathing in the pool disappear, as they had never existed. One figure appear, as it has always been there.
One body, with the waters up to the hips. It looks like a woman, standing still and passive. It is a young woman, appearing now as suspended upon the water surface.
She is dressed, but her clothes are all wet. Something is holding her up. A number of tentacles emerging from the waters are keeping her suspended. These elongated organs have animal features of slimy mollusks, but they move on that body as guided by something intelligent.
Some tentacles are tightening her wrists and ankle, so to keep the legs open and exposing the whole body. Other tentacles lightly dance and touch her breast, genitals and other erogenous zones, passing under her clothes.
The girl has her eyes closed and seems lost in a dream of ecstasy.

Upon the waters of the same pool, relatively far from the girl, other tentacles were playing a flute. The mouth presumibely pushing air throught the flute is a spheroid mass, from which these tentacles seem to come from. The thing is hidden among the vapors of the pool. After Michael speaks loud, the thing stop playing the flute.
The tentacles holding the girl start moving fast and chaotically, like an animal that reacts instinctively.

While the group is talking, the flute players becomes more visible as the thing gets closer towards the girl. It is a big creature vaguely resembling a frog, as well as squids or octopi. It is 20 feet tall and 10 feet wide and a concave shape makes the rough body structure. The skin covering the head and the back works as a kind of armor, protecting the ventral and hollow and part of the body, from which big tentacles depart, appearing those of a giant octopus. One of the tentacles is still holding the big flute.

Michael shouts, "Everybody back!" He starts retreating the way we came, keeping an eye on his comrades and the thing as he retreats toward the entrance to the cave, if he is able to do so.
Sep 4, 2019 1:48 pm
Edmond ducks down following Michael's lead trying to get out of the cave.
Sep 6, 2019 12:29 am
The shots fired by Binghampton hit the creature. As one bullet hit one of his tentacles, the monster throws the flute away, which floats upon the water´s pool a few feet from it. However, the two bullets that hit its chest dissolve inexplicably as soon as they clash into what seems to be a field of energy, enveloping the central part of its mass and mingling with the surrounding vapors. The monster´s mass floats above water, while the spirals drawn on the aphybious skin seems to move swirlingly, giving this being an even more unnatural and absurd appearance. Some of his tentacles tighten the girl´s body. A long slimy protuberance wraps around her slender neck, just while she was about to get out of her trance state into this terrifying nightmare.

Michael intends to exit the large cavern if he can and get out of sight/reach of the creature. He is still somewhat horrified, and what part of him is still thinking rationally does not see an immediate way to rescue the woman, if she even wants to be rescued. At this time, he would probably only go back into the large cavern if his associates were in danger.
Sep 15, 2019 9:44 pm
Mr. Edmund runs out of the cave tripping a little bit running as fast as he can.
Sep 16, 2019 6:31 pm
The nearest and immediate escape route is the tunnel that goes to the sea, the one the group came from. The creature follows the group but must stop in front of the mouth of the tunnel, as it is too narrow for its size. The group goes back to the beach which is still deserted. Silence and tranquility reign. The day is still sunny and the air is cold. The lighthouse stands tall on the rocky edge of the breakwater, before the group´s eyes.

The group has now time to examine the two objects they found. The crucifix is a common wodden crucifix with its Corpus Christi, the inscription INRI, and a metal chain. Cross size is 1,5 inches, while the chain size is 18 inches. The rifle is not working, being encrusted with salt. It has been submerged in very salty water for a long time, but it can be cleaned and fixed. There is a label on the rifle butt, it is quite faded but still readable "Marlin 1895G, MC shop"
Sep 22, 2019 10:49 pm
"Jesus Mary and Joseph!" Michael, blurts out, panting. "Did you see that abomination? I mean, that can't be real, can it?" He slowly regains his composure and examines the items. "MC shop? Maybe we can find out more about this weapon, maybe even who it was sold too, or how long ago. Not that it probably matters."

"I wonder if we can figure out where that upper passageway goes, the one we saw across the cavern?"
OOC:
I don't think Michael really has any skills that would let him visualize if the cavern is under the town, and if so approximately where, maybe survival (25%) is the closest, like not getting lost in the woods or caves?

Considering the group has walked in the cave going westward and considering the height of the upper passage, Michael can estimate that this passage should lead somewhere up the hill.
Sep 24, 2019 5:35 pm
Michael says, "Well, after all that I'm at a loss. We could track down this Sawney fellow and find out more about the lighthouse and the women's tracks. We could interview Emma Weeks, who reported confusion and rape that sounds a lot like what we saw in the cave, or the woman Jane Norris, who's child disappeared. Or we could go try to find the other entrance into the cave complex, where that upper tunnel might be hidden in town. I'm sure there are people in this town that know what's going on."
Sep 25, 2019 1:29 pm
I look at Michael in a little confusion. yeah maybe we should ask the people in the town. Seems like we're not getting a lot of clues?
Sep 27, 2019 5:16 pm
"We could also ask Father Colby about the crucifix, while it may be common and not noteworthy in and of itself, it may belong . . .or have belonged. . . to someone who attended mass regularly and has gone missing? The gun makes me think someone went in to the cave expecting danger. . . it could help to know who that person is . . or was. . ."
Sep 30, 2019 10:43 pm
Mr. Edmond looks at Michael sure maybe we should go back and ask father Colby about the crucifix. Maybe we should ask a few more people in town what they think?
Oct 1, 2019 12:05 am
"OK, unless Bing objects, let's try to find Father Colby again. Also see if perhaps we can find that other entrance to the caves, not that I want to go back down there anytime soon. And maybe talk to the lighthouse keeper, Sawney, wasn't it? He doesn't know we have seen the inside, so perhaps we have an advantage when questioning him now."
