Marv winces at Max's closing, "Oof, kid. You've gotta learn how to keep your cards a bit closer to your chest. You sure you can trust that guy? Corruption's kinda like a fungus in that it spreads out and eats into anything rubbing too close."

With the phone call ended, you are all left in Lance's office. Two leads seem most enticing at the moment: Visit Harry's Holliday Haven—either to buy some masks, or to ask about the attackers, or both—or head straight to the drive-in. You could also try to scoop up more info on the Pantones by hitting the streets a bit. The only question you don't know is what the masked thugs are up to, whether they've struck before, or when they'll strike again.
OOC:
So, we can skip the steps of getting the caddy, driving over, etc. Just let me know where you'd like to go.Jan 30, 2020 3:01 pm
"Bridgewater is good people and he tries to make sure I keep my nose clean. I know he'd have my back if I ended up in a fire fight. Doing the right thing is why he's not out in the field anymore and sitting in the motor pool." Max explains and gets ready to go.

[ +- ] Storefront

The receipt from Harry's Holiday Haven lists the address as nearby, only about six or seven blocks from the One-Two. The storefront is weathered but bright, with a poster advertising buy-one-get-one-free Halloween costumes. As you enter, the bell on the door rings, and a bored-looking teenager barely looks up from her phone. "Hey."

Marv pats Mildred on the hood when they find her in the garage. "Mmm, what a beaut." He smiles at Hank as he joins the group piling into the car. "If they don't have a Lance mask, I'm gonna get a gorilla mask." He laughs, "The furrier the better! What about you guys?"
OOC:
Love the cashier's pic!Jan 30, 2020 7:38 pm
"Hello Miss, we're looking for your most colorful masks preferably in gradient tones of hue." Max states with a ball of fast food takeout bags and crushed cans under his arm.

"That's a bright idea, Marv. Find yourself a Lance mask, I bet they'll invite you right in. Sounds like a good, if painful, way to get a front row seat for whatever they're up to."
When they arrive, Hank walks through the aisles, pulling out costumes as he walks by. "Speaking of furry, I look pretty good in a sasquatch mask. Got the build for it, y'know... but I guess the kid's got the right idea. The goons had bright colors, so that's the way I'll go. Maybe this fancy piece of work." Hank picks up a Luchador mask and holds it up to his face.
"I think I found mine, miss. And I wonder, did you happen to see a group of guys come in here a few days ago? Martial artists, group of 7 or 8, picked out bright-colored masks kinda like these?"

The mask selection is woeful at the moment as if someone's picked over everything. With the exception of the Luchador mask, there's a Nixon, a Carter, an Elmo, a wolfman, and several characters from Yo-Gabba-Gabba.
The girl looks over at Hank's question. "Um... I only work weekends."

The receipt should have the date: Yesterday, mere hours before the attack.Jan 31, 2020 3:16 am
Red judges each mask carefully, once or twice reaching for one before pulling her hand away with a slight headshake. Finally she settles on a Yo-gabba-gabba mask, the pink one. "I vaguely recall this show, probably strike fear in my enemies like the Nixon one but eh' I'll manage."
Overhearing the clerk conversation she chimes in. "Do you know who was working? It would be a great help."

Max looks around for a fireman's costume and grabs the Wolfman mask.
"Anything interesting happen on the weekends lately?" Max asks after making a selection.

Marv wanders among the racks and snatches the Elmo mask, rubbing the fuzz under his fingers. "Wasn't quite what I was thinking, but it'll do."

The girl finally puts the phone down and looks at you. "Uh... It's the off season, so weekends are slow. This job sucks. Why all these questions? Who are you people?"
OOC:
Social check time! Let's say Average (PP) with a setback for any attempt you take, as she'd rather you left her to her social media. We can add boosts afterward if you appeal to her motivations (which I'm keeping secret for now, but they can be revealed with advantages). Charm, Leadership, Coercion, and Deception are all on the table depending on your approach. Flashing a badge (Max or Marv) is always an option to get a boost with most law-abiding folks.Jan 31, 2020 4:00 pm
OOC:
Best I got would be deception with GGG, I'd likely go the route of pointing out Loretta's story versus a badge and the masks looking like ones someone would buy here maybe the clerk wants to be an informant for Loretta and I have her number... Thoughts to the group.Jan 31, 2020 4:11 pm
OOC:
That's interesting... playing on her interest in being on the news or something? I was thinking we could also lean into this as a gossip topic... "Bigtime criminals were here JUST YESTERDAY." If we give her something juicy to share with friends, she may be willing to share what she's seen.Jan 31, 2020 4:57 pm
OOC:
My deception is my strongest check too, but I dont love the idea of deceiving this kid ic (i.e. leaning on her as a possible accessory, especially since she wasn't working). I do think maybe we can leverage our local celebrity and her love of social media for a look at tapes or receipts in return for a selfie, though. I've probably got a Private eye license that could pass as a badge for an assist to max if we want to go that route though.

The best I'd be bringing is GG to any social check, so I'll follow y'all's lead.Jan 31, 2020 6:33 pm

Sounds like a plan, TIL I learned I'm the pseudo face and healer that cries sometimes...Jan 31, 2020 6:34 pm
OOC:
Sounds like y'all are leaning toward Charm or Leadership (the latter being more like, "Hey, do your civic duty; we're professionals." I'd assume Marv has a private-eye badge, but only one boost regardless of whether it's his or Max's that gets flashed. Since it looks like you'll do so anyway, I'll admit that incorporating her social media addiction is worth two boosts.OOC:
Scratch that. Looks like Deception, playing coy with the details and claiming you're working for the news. Still PP for difficulty, BB for the social media trending plug. Roll 'em up, Remnant!Jan 31, 2020 7:48 pm
Max keeps talking and no one is stopping him.
I haven't talked this much about half truths since I tried Aftershock and Dr Pepper and almost got caught... he thinks to himself.
