"Locals know regulars, if you're paranoid anything that doesn't look familiar makes you nervous. But I think we don't want to get this vehicle more banged up and in worse shape. I'm okay with a foot patrol."
Feb 11, 2020 7:06 pm
"Sounds good to me. I don't want to risk Mildred's collector value. Some day I'm gonna fix this baby up, and she'll be a real beauty."

As they get near, Hank finds an out-of-the-way spot to park where the car won't attract attention.

"And Red, it was the 1983 model that had the explosion issues. This is an '85, and sturdy as a train. It won't explode any more than any other 34-year old fine American automobile."

Max nods and gets out flexing his fingertips, "Well we came to talk but we might get jumped..." he admits with a sideways he bob.

OOC:
So both of my GM'ed games are in roughly similar spots: How do you plan to move into the drive-in? Sneak in? Go in straightforward but keeping an eye out for trouble? Making a lot of noise so they're not surprised?
Feb 13, 2020 12:02 am
"We ain't trying to sneak up on anybody, are we? Sounds like Pantones are more victim than perp judging by what Narbonne said." Marv raises his eyebrows, "I'll tell ya one way to get on my bad side, trying to break into my place. Way I see it, best way to find out about ol' Fatima is roll up to the front door and request a par-lay." He rubs his hands together and claps them in a 'simple-as-that' gesture.

"I agree we have an odd vested interest in finding her. Upfront honest and blunt."

[ +- ] Drive-in Theater Map
You leave Mildred in a parking lot for what looks like it used to be an ice cream stand, now boarded up. There's little traffic, so you take Sanilac Road to what seems to be the back entrance to the drive-in and start walking down the dirt path. The quiet is unsettling. Gnats and other country bugs flit about, seemingly aimed for your eyes. A copse of trees runs parallel to the road and blocks your view to the east, while another runs perpendicular to the road and blocks your view of what you assume to be the theater proper. As you walk south along the exit road, you start to catch a glimpse of what lies ahead...
OOC:
Average Vigilance check from the group, please. Whoever has the highest score can roll, with three boosts.

If anyone's actively trying to look at something, let me know, and I'll give you a Perception check difficulty.

OOC:
Tryin to catch me rollin dirty.

Rolls

Vigilance

2 Success, 3 Advantage, 1 Failure, 2 Threat

Total: 1 Success, 1 Advantage

Feb 13, 2020 12:56 pm
As they're walking in, Hank scans the trees on either side. Upfront, honest and blunt is one thing. Blindly walking into a trap is another.
OOC:
Perception to see anyone watching from the trees?

OOC:
Call it Hard (PPP) based on the average gang-member's Agility, with a setback, since they'd have cover.
Feb 13, 2020 2:16 pm
Hank blinks sweat away as he eyes the shifting shadows in the trees.
OOC:
Oof. Note to self: Genesys is not the type of game for a cautious perception check every twenty feet.

Perception (Cunning)

Total: 3 Failure, 1 Threat

I figure it's more likely to throw something then do something after the distraction so I guess I'll be on the look out for any bottles being thrown at Mr. Rodrigo's head... again. If they have pee in them I'm just going to have to tell him versus touching or breaking it mid air cus that's gross...

Red wears a confident, disarming smile on her face. "Just act cool, we're not here to start trouble after all."

OOC:
Yeah, Perception is better for active searching, while the game streamlines general "finding traps" sort of stuff to Vigilance. Reduces all that rolling to one check every now and then. But I always like to offer the option for active searching, too, since Cunning-focused characters are naturals at it.
You approach the bottleneck created by the trees, staying vigilant in case anyone tries to jump you, hurl beer bottles, or something worse. Hank scans the branches overhead for anyone hiding there: Nobody's there as far as he can tell, but by taking his eyes off the road, he stumbles into a pothole and has to focus on his feet to keep from falling.
OOC:
1 threat = setback on your next check (if there is one) in the next minute or so of narrative time.
[ +- ] Car
Marv, though hears the unmistakeable sound of tires on gravel and notices a beat-up car pulling off the road and driving, very slowly, along the tree line perpendicular to your own path. They don't look aggressive, but Marv suspects that they're planning to pull in behind you to prevent you from getting away the same way you came. That said, Marv does note that since you're on foot, you could always bolt through the trees to the east if the proverbial shit hits the fan.
OOC:
Gave you a "notice something important" thing for the advantage.
Feb 15, 2020 9:26 am
Marv looks toward the car out of the side of his eyes and nudges Max with his elbow, gesturing with a little toss of his chin and meaningful glance at the car that's currently crossing the road. He puts his hands into his jacket pocket and slips the fingers of one through his brass knuckles just in case.

He continues to stroll, hands in his pockets, and starts to whistle quiet rendition of the tune of his smash hit, Let's all go to the moovies. As he walks, he keeps a careful eye out for movement, and ear out for the closing or opening of a car door.

You continue walking down the path as nonchalantly as you can muster. Sure enough, the car Marv noticed moves methodically to cross the path behind you, closing the gap between the two copses of trees. It stops there, but you hear the engine is still running.

Meanwhile, up ahead, you start to see the layout of the theater. It's mostly just an open field with white posts placed at regular intervals, indicating where cars are supposed to park to watch a film. There are a maybe a dozen beat-up cars on the premises, although only a handful of them are positioned facing the screen. The screen itself lies across the field in front of some woods. A building with peeling, white paint stands in the middle of the field, presumably where concessions would be sold and restrooms located if this were an operational theater.
OOC:
More to come...
Feb 18, 2020 2:00 am
When you make it perhaps 100 yards down the exit road, the theater screen suddenly jumps to life:
[ +- ] Screen
The image appears of a beautiful woman with mahogany skin and hair dyed half white, half red. She looks straight ahead and begins speaking in a raspy voice projected from a loudspeaker somewhere in the concessions building.
[ +- ] Woman's Image
"You are trespassing on the territory of the Pantones, protectors of the Cooper Park neighborhood. This theater is private property. If you leave now, you won't be hurt."

Then the message repeats again. You notice that a few of the cars have people in them. They all seem to be watching you to see what you'll do.
Feb 18, 2020 4:41 am
Oh wow, I wish I had that kind of hair. In such a perilous situation Red somehow manages to focus on only the most unimportant details.

Snapping back to reality she waves to the folks in the cars, shouting out: "Hello! We don't want to fight, we're just looking for some information please!"
Feb 18, 2020 10:59 am
As soon as the video starts playing, he looks left, right, then behind him, making sure they aren't being actively jumped, "Yeah, we come in peace. Just looking to have a little chat! We think we may have a mutual enemy, and the enemy of my enemy yada yada..."
Feb 18, 2020 1:11 pm
Max looks around and moves to the closest car likely the one behind them and stops a distance away.

"We just came from Double Crown, we'd like to talk about the kidnappings in Bangertown so we can get the people back. You know the community better than us so we'd like your help and we'll leave. Please." he states honestly.
