Updates/Deadlines

Since I'm a new fish in the PbP pond here...what do you all think of trying to get character creations done by this Saturday (January 11, 2020) by 12:00 AM (EST)? I'm open to any and all options.

I'm just trying to gauge the story material and timing of things.

Let me know. Thanks.

Sounds good to me
Jan 7, 2020 1:18 am
definitely sounds good
Jan 7, 2020 12:43 pm
Also - is 4 posts per weeks something everyone is good with? I could do a bit more or less. Just sound off if you would like a difference frequency level. Thanks again.
Jan 7, 2020 12:46 pm
I like 4 posts/week. That works well for me
Jan 7, 2020 12:53 pm
I am post crazy but I can deal with a more casual pace.
Jan 7, 2020 12:55 pm
I'm the same as Cube
Jan 7, 2020 2:17 pm
Oh everyone I will be playing a rootin tootin shootin gunslinger type.
Jan 7, 2020 3:16 pm
I generally make a habit of checking in at the very least once every morning before I get my day started, but typically log in a few times throughout the day as well.
Jan 7, 2020 3:33 pm
Oh remember in this setting they add shooting and riding to the core skills.
Jan 7, 2020 3:36 pm
Both Agility?
Jan 7, 2020 3:39 pm
Yes agility skills

Yes indeed! It assumes your character has already went through Ranger training and at the very least picked up Shooting and Riding at a base level (d4) at the least.
Jan 7, 2020 7:35 pm
Also, if you're a human, you get a free Edge. I forgot about that and the GM had to remind me, which bought me back 2 points to spend on skills.

If most of us are good with a January 11 Character Creation deadline then I will try to have the prelude ready by this weekend as well. As soon as I get all of your character's starting sheets approved we can move it along.

Your character backgrounds have been great thus far. Primers...Why does your character want to be a Ranger? What kind of encounters have they had with these robots? Other reasons..? How did they end up in Minnesota? No need to respond here...save it for the prelude! ;) Keep it secret...keep it safe. :p

Hey, so this will be my first SWADE, I am looking forward to it. I am super open to teachable moments haha so please don't be afraid to catch me up on anything I might no do properly.

As for the deadline that looks good to me, I'll probably do all the finishing touches on my character on the Saturday as it's my day off

Sounds good! I'll certainly help as much as I can! Looking forward to learning and playing with everyone.

I submitted a character. Have a look if it's done correctly since it's only the second time I've ever made a SW character (the first time was around 7 years ago). Also, I hope I even used the correct edition xD
I haven't done gear yet. I'll add that tomorrow.
Jan 11, 2020 12:36 am
I'll go ahead and open up the Prelude. Please feel free to drop comments/suggestions along the way. I'm a newb, be gentle! haha. Let's have fun.

I'll try to post as often as possible, but if I'm slowing things down, go ahead and bot me. My wife is legally blind and I am her eyes. I do all the driving, most of the cooking, and I read and take dictation for her emails. We're both staff members for a local convention in March, and that takes up a lot of our time. My weekends are typically very full. Usually, I'm able to carve out a few minutes each day to catch up on moves in the seven PbP games that I run, and the eight that I play in, but sometimes, it gets a little difficult.

10-4. Thanks for the heads up.

Ruh roh. I didn't know what bowlofspinach was rolling and rolled a galvanic engineer (which is what it looks like bowl is playing). What powers did you take? I don't want to step on toes but I can't figure out how to see other players' char sheets and hadn't seen that's what you were making til I spent 2 hours rolling my char up lol.
Jan 11, 2020 8:45 pm
Yeah, I posted my idea somewhere in some thread but I don't even remember where so no wonder you didn't see it :D

I didn't take Galvanic Engineer, just regular engineering/support stuff.
For my edges, I have "Journeyman Tinkerer", "McGyver" and "Mr. Fix It"

We might both be going into the engineering side but we should be different enough, I guess.
Jan 11, 2020 9:00 pm
Oh cool. I actually deliberately avoided that side of stuff. Sounds like we won't overlap. I remember you saying you were going to roll an engineering/support character, but the way your intro read I thought it was galvanic. Sounds good! I think we'll have good synergy

I'll check over your character today. :)

I'm posting a reply to each character's first entrance into the fort. If I haven't gotten to you, I will. :) Just FYI.
Jan 14, 2020 3:54 am
I'm just waiting on one more reply on the first Prelude thread and then we will move on. Hope everyone is having a good start to the week. Oh. LOVE each of your character's so far. :)

Hey, I still havent actually picked any equipment. Do you have a better list for this setting than the one in the generic SW rulebook? Because that one barely has anything useful in it

It's all good. The only thing extra it gave me beyond what is in SWADE was mostly "Tesla Tech" which I put under the Character Creation section. You'll see a thread called Gear. I was thinking of just having the idea that everyone showed up to the fort with whatever your person was getting by within everyday life and then after this little prelude move to equip everyone with their needs. I'm totally open to suggestions though.
Jan 21, 2020 8:00 am
Hm, I just thought you had a more extensive list since you told us how much money we have to spend but since that list is mostly not relevant for our setting, I have no idea how much money anything I would buy would actually be xD
Oh well

Oh well
I'll check on that asap. At work RN, but I think...it starts you at around $500 at character creation? So, whatever you think would be relevant for a late 1800s/early 1900s type of era...Wild West, etc.

Yeah, I don't really have a fully extensive list for the era...just kind of go with whatever you all think would be relevant for your character up to the point that they arrive at Fort Ohm. From that point forward we will use the requisition option for specialized gear, if your character needs it.

I think the monetary value of things would still work out, even just using the price guide out of the core book. I'm not sure if that addresses the issue entirely or not, but I will look asap when I get back home today. :)

Maybe we could also use the deadlands setting as a source of gear and prices. The time periods are similar so that might be a good place for some extra splat?

True! We could roll with that. :)
Jan 21, 2020 9:29 pm
Yeah, I just need some better, possibly period appropriate list because the one in the core book doesn't help me at all ':D
Where can I get access to the Deadlands equipment list, though?

At the conclusion of the Prelude, I was planning on finalizing Gear anyway. So, we can just handle that as GM & Player or I can put up a Gear list..? If not, just use SWADE, the gear I have here, or Deadlands as was mentioned. Either way, gear yourselves as you will up to the starting limit so to speak and we can make any additions (or subtractions) before we head out on the actual mission.

Again...that was just my overall plan. I'm totally up for whatever doing for you all! :)

I'm keeping a running list of NPCs and locations for easy reference under the thread Setting Encounter References. It will be a thread I simply Edit throughout our mini campaign. Reference as you so desire.

I will be coming with an update on the orientation today.

Hi everyone. Sorry I'm a bit slow with replies right now. Work is being a bear for me...it's our shipping season and heavy workloads are upon me. I'll respond as I'm able! Thanks for your patience!
