Laird Dekard, draws out from the sheaf two long sheets of vellum and rolls them on a single scroll.

He places the Scroll inside a long burgundy red leather scroll tube and presents it to the group.
The Laird Says, "Very well, the ship is at the docks now awaiting your arrival. Present this to the captain of the Nine buttons. Know that you have until the new moon to complete this quest."

"Do you think the bear should sign?" Marashepsut whispers quietly leaning forward between Sudamon and Logirth, "she does seem to be entitled a share."

Dekard rolls up the scrolls noisily and Mara stands back up, "I guess not," she looks sympathetically at the bear and shrugs.

Following the men outside she looks towards the harbour and then towards her tan coloured horse, "Do you suppose they will have room for our horses aboard the ship or will we have to stable them here until we return?"

Yes, the Nine buttons will have room for your steeds. though the bear is to stay on the deck with Logrith.

The bear needs a name...

OOC:
The bear's name is white claw. One of his front paws has white nails instead of black.

I suppose that arrangement will suit us, Logrith replies.

This is a small "village" with a fortified manor/villa or is it more of a "town" with wooden or stone defensive walls and a keep/castle? Or is it more of a border fortress kind of location with an associated town? Trying to get a feel for how big this place is, I get the feeling it’s rather small.

What’s the weather like? What time of year is it?

Yes, this place is rather small. Laird Dekard's villa is further north from here across a grapes farm, opposite of a vintner "wine maker".
The smells of grapes and wine waft past his favorite "vacation spot". No walls, no fortress, a dock yes. The weather is crisp and cool, early in the morning lows are 60*F, and Noon Highs are 72*F. Clouds roll in from the ocean, it seems that if you wait just ten minutes there will be entirely new clouds. It is the time of frostend, before New flower, the time for seed planting and the months of green.

When you return to Laird Dekard in his villa at the town of crosswind with the exchequer's reciept with seal, the Laird will cross your palms with one thousand gold each!

Who has the Scroll tube? are you all going to the ship? anything else you'd like to ask of the "Laird"...

OOC:
So there’s really nothing else here beyond a villa and vinyard. ie - The boys can’t hit the town to stock up on moustache wax and beard balm.
"If I may inquire My Lord," Mara asks raising an eyebrow, "how long have these towns been a part of the Kingdom of Taldor and what sorts of folk might we encounter there? Are there any we should be especially wary of?"

I can take the scroll, Logrith says, as he reaches out to take the parchment and place it carefully in his backpack.

He adds, Neither myself nor White Claw have ever been aboard ship. We look forward to exploring new horizons with much anticipation.

There are some things available in the farmer's market, though the only eye widening surprises are for those who cook, wine aficionados, fellow agriculturalists, and horticulturalists. for example; "WinterStones" - a kind of potato that grows in the cold. a spice called 'rime-flower' which has a crisp, icy, wintergreen taste. Cinnamon, nutmeg, teragon, cumin, chili powder, paprika, parsley, oregano, basil, thyme, sage, marojam, cilantro, rosemary, rue, minced onion, minced garlic, and more can be found in the spice-master's cart. Woodland elves examine and purchase bushels of desert cotton from Osirion, and bolts of silk from far-far away Tian Xua. Dwarves inspect forge rosens, blacksmith supplies and tools for their mines, timber for the shoring up. A dwarven merchant is selling several varieties of mushroom; button, octopus, shiitake, and Stair-step. There is a huckster selling "Honest-to-goodness-bottled siren-song". Very rare, a crate from the city of ilsuria in the distant nation of Varisa of a fruit juice known as "shelyn's Beloved drop" or just "Beloved". The fruit juice is a wondrous drink at dawn, makes for good mixed drinks, and supposedly a small drop will render the most vile alchemical concoction palatable....

Laird Dekard, answers you Mara off handily as he boards a small, but ornate carriage, "Taldor has held these cities for some 25 months. which is something of a record. You are bound to meet settlers and farmers who grow some of the crops in our market today. The majority of such goods is transported to various capitals of the west and the north by teleportation and kept fresh with purification prayers, so you may see one exceptionally potent scroll reader... true masters of the arcane and divine, aren't as common here as they are in the nations west of us, both south and north. The only ones who should concern you are the Bourger-mansters in the ancient parlance, as we call them now the mayors and governors of those towns.
They tend to their people zealously, and are reluctant to surrender their taxes at times - only when the kingdom does not acknowledge their needs."

OOC:
I note the emphasis added. both of you, Logrith and the Bear White-Claw, can swim very well, though you should have no fears of the nine Sail Cargo Ship, nor the waters. Well, no more fear than a trek through the wilds may offer.

Marashepsut nods, "Your inside is most helpful Malek, My Lord."

She looks at Logrith and Sudamon, "I wish to purchase some things in the market before we depart, if that is alright with you. Spices, supplies, you understand."
Feb 23, 2020 7:33 pm
Alrighty, let me know which carts of goods each of you would like to visit. If you head to the ship let me know of your actions there. I will keep nudging the Adventure forward as we go.

Mara wandered out of the villa, pulled her headdress back and began teasing the tangles out her blue black hair with her fingers. She like this place, the crystal sky was fulled with large billowy white clouds, a gentle cool, sometimes cold, breeze blew in off the ocean and most importantly, everything was beautiful emerald green instead of the oppressive dust filled shades of endless sand she was accustomed to.

Walking across the the cobblestone courtyard to her horse, Marashepsut ran her hand down the neck of the gold and black dappled mare, "Merhaba prenses, başka bir maceraya hazır mısın?" She smiled and reached into her bag muttering the word oats prior to producing a handful to feed her faithful companion.

Spending a few moments securing her pockets, pouches and bags, no point in making life easy for whatever third rate thieves might inhabit this hamlet. When she finished Mara slowly led her mare down the road, through the village and into the market place.

Mara had spent part of the night before going through her supplies, taking inventory figuring out what she had and what she needed.

Her priorities are a warm cloak for the sea journey, fresh fruits and vegetables, spices, beer and wine.

Carth watches Mara head off. She had a head for trade and such things, but Carth is thinking of other necessities. He finds his horse outside and scratches it's neck. "I'll go to the ship, see about the captain and crew. I'll meet you all there later."

Swinging into saddle, he guides his faithful steed toward the docks.

Mara finds a cask of delightful honey mead for a good price, a cask of ale, and the other items she seeks.

Sudamon Carth, heads to the docks. Apparently the trade with this village has added goods to the cargo that can be found no where else, the Smug halfling captain grins anticipating a good profit. Moving about on the wide, but busy pier requires a bit of patience as Laborers work to load the ship with crates, barrels, and rolled tarps full of goods.
The halfling captain rocks back and forth on her heels before the pier entrance along side her heavily muscled Dwarven First mate. It seems the dwarf wears a charm that makes him "Large sized". The dwarf carries the manifest and records everything the Halfling captain tells him to.
The halfling captain, "Kadar! record the sales of the Osirion cotton bundles, and Red River Reed meditation mats."
She noted that the wood elf buyers were entranced by the comfort and warmth of the cotton- It was clear that they couldn't get enough of the stuff. She imagined their Spinners, Weavers, tailors, and dye masters would be creating furniture and a wardrobe suitable for a king. Such industry suited the elves, as they proffered their own styles and motifs.
The Giant-Dwarf, "Yes captain Cee-Cee!"

A bit of calculation enters halfling Captain Cee-Cee's eyes as she sees Sudamon on his horse, "What is this?" she asks aloud...

Logrith doesn't need much in terms of supplies that he didn't already have and with White Claw he would only create a stir in the market. But he does notice a small stall on the fringes of it selling fresh fish. In fact there was also an old lady in the adjacent stall selling dried fish. I'll meet you back at the ship, he says to the others and he and the bear amble over to the stalls. Logrith buys a fresh glistening pink fish for the bear and a sac of dried fish for the voyage. He tosses the fish to White Claw who grabs it in his long sharp claws and digs in, jaws slapping and slobbering, thoroughly enjoying his treat.
