Each of you during the morning to afternoon arrived in town. It is a minorly walled city you known upon entering. You also note that there really isn't much of a fighting force for police or otherwise noted. Surprisingly lack of guards in general. Not a surprise the city doesn't have a weapon or armor limit.

With ease you locate the Griffen Inn/tavern and get yourself set. Asking around you locate the town hall building where you been told the burgermister is. It isn't the largest of building around can appears it could use some upkeep. Inside is bare. There are some benches to sit down on and on the far side of it with a door is a sized down desk for a prune of ancient halfling lady. (High school teacher that loves a ruler.) You quickly find she no sense of humor and only Sit and wait and the burgermister will see you is what she has to say.

With in a few minutes about dozen men and women file out of burgermisters office. Some take note of you, but don't take any time to speak to you. These people remind you of guild leader types. Apparently the meeting with the burgermister didn't go will considering their attitudes.

It is your turn now to enter the also bare room, but at least it has a dozen or so chairs besides the burgermister and his desk.

Jeral eyes each of you as you settle down in the chairs. Sorry about the less than special start but I'm glad to see you. I'm burgermister Jeral and who do I have the esteem pleasures to meet?

Evalynn Everstar perks up first, standing upright and almost at attention. She holds out her hand to the Burgermeister for a handshake. "Good day to you, Sir Burgermeister, Sir. My name is Sister Evalynn Everstar. Pleasure to finally make your acquaintance." She appears put together, but is slightly nervous. She straightens her belt a bit before awkwardly smiling and making eye contact again.

Seraphina has gotten a bit bored while waiting. That halfling school marm outside reminded her of the orphanages and she didn't much appreciate that trip down memory lane. She amused herself by playing with her sweet mouse, Sir Camembert. When the Burgermeister arrived, she secreted him away into her pocket, for the large folk were always squirming about whenever they saw a mouse, she had come to notice.

Evalynn beat her to the punch while she secured Sir Camembert in her pocket.

"Seraphina Hollysharp, at your service. Specializing in Practical Justice and Odd Jobs that Require Questions Left Unasked."

She bows, curt and precise-like.

Tau pats up his chest with his right arm, his firm stance gives the impression of military training, but gives a more relaxed impression. He smiles at the burgermister.

Tau Bagamul, warrior of the Baga. Tau is glad to meet burgermister.

Saying this, he gives a small nod.

Jeral shakes your hand, Well met Carrick Harper. You look to be a man of means.

After you all are settled back down in your seats, he begins, The situation I have here is no support, but expected to do everything. He gives a slight chuckle at that, I have found just hiring mercenary and such never seem to work out well. So I have always looked to more enterprising help. He briefly sways his hand over you all.

What it is. This city is slowly getting choked down. The trade road are becoming unsafe and this city thieves on trade. he reaches behind his desk to bring up a large sack. I don't have a lot to offer, but I also request don't you bring me anything either.

He dumps the contents of the sack across his desk, These are the finest elven ration you get. There enough to hold each of you a week. (Treat 7 days of elven ration as 1 pound encumbrance). I will give each of you my personal note and Alice at the General Store will give you discount on what you buy there.

There are stories of goblin and roving bandits taking out the caravans, I need a stop to it. There is only the road in and out of this city and both seem to be attacked now. I understand your at the inn right now. Consider your rooms paid for.

Evalynn looks at the rations for a moment, then back at the man. "Okay, so immediate red flags and questions. Are we talking protection? Guard duty at the gates? Seek and destroy hit job?"

She turns to the rest of the people in the room, attempting to get a read on everyone else's take on the situation.

That sums up everything it seems. Turns to the others. I'm going to head to the tavern and have a drink. I’d like to get a plan of attack going so if anyone would like to join me, you are welcome. turns back to the burgermeister Jeral. Do you know if anyone is town is aiding these bandits?

Jeral answers back some info, Solving the problems is going to require you to be outside the city and why I gave you 7 days of rations to help out that. I fathom there isn't any group in the city that wants the bandits to live. Their efforts hurt everyone.

Somewhere outside the city must be someone that is organizing these attacks. Seems like they are too common now. Only a few caravan and such make to the city and that seems random too.

Jeral gives a simple answer, Not really, but if shipment continue to be block this city will fall. We don't have many farms within the walls and those outside are not being abandoned.

Most happen really not far from the city in the forests along the road. That is both coming in the city and going out. Why I think someone is trying to weaken the city to take it out.

Monte takes in the whole conversation, watching the Burgermister with interest. When Seraphina asks her question, Monte looks to her. Eyebrow raised she says "I'm in as well."before turning back to the Burgermister. "Bandits can be delt with, and im very good at dealing with them. Ill go."

Seeing how it has gone well. With each getting their ration, he suggests Perhaps you should start at the inn and get a meal before heading out to wipe out the bandits.

Evalynn takes her rations, nods towards the Burgermiester, and looks to Tau. She nods at him, winking, then heads out the door. "Hey big guy, you want to grab a pint before we get started?"

Seraphina considers the Burgermeister's proposal silently. Since room and board is part of our payment, I might as well check it out. Plus, might be good to get first pick of the rooms.

"Yes, I'll be taking my leave then."

With a perfunctory bow, Seraphina leaves the Burgermeister's and heads to the inn and seeks the innkeeper promptly to make arrangements for accommodation.

"Something secure and spacious, please. Also, I'm interested in more info on the forest, when you've got the time. As you may know, we've been hired by the Burgermeister to clear out the brigands. I'm certain you'll get significantly more business as a result of our efforts, which explains why you've taken on the financial burden of renting 7 fine rooms to the lot of us. The more we know about the forest, the faster you'll be in busy season and we'll be out of your hair. So spill it for both our sakes, or give me the name of somebody that is in the know."

The innkeep replies back. I don't really get out myself but I hear that it isn't safe any more. Word has it that someone is behind the bandits. No one seems to who or what.

He tells you of some druids and how to get find them. They have a spot within the walls. It is noticeable because it has 3 trees that form an unilateral triangle. There is a tent there. Perhaps they are what you seek.

There isn't much of a bustle at the Red Roof Inn. Hugher Pufffin is there talking with Seraphina Hollysharp. Many tables are empty and there is an idle serve wench present. The few tables occupied look to be general worker from around the city. You have all found yourselves a table while Sera is chatting. No one has called over for the wench and she doesn't appear to be to active.

"That's a comfort to know, lady, but the sun doesn't always shine in the dark parts of the forest. Evalynn was it? Seraphina." She extend a gloved hand for a firm, business-like handshake.

Evalynn runs after Sera. "Hey wait up. What are you looking for from the druids? You have a plan? You seem like the type to have a plan. I, honestly, have zero plan other than to be of use where I can. I wasn’t implying I can do it all, mind you. But you may be surprised how much of the sun you can bring with you into the dark when you have the gods on your side."

She looks at Sera, then holds her hands up. "Sorry, I’m a nervous talker. Feel free to tell me to shut up at any point. Haha." She laughs at her own joke, and actually snorts before stifling herself.

"Okay, sh..."

Seraphina is about to tell the cleric to shut it, but realizes a Pelor devotee is a pretty powerful ally to have in a pinch, so she tries to be nice.

"..all we talk about this plan? Yeah, first visit the Druids I figure. I'm hoping they're eager to be done with these bandits as anyone, might even offer some aid, like a blessing or something. Also hoping to get some idea of the territory we're heading into."

"I haven't run this by everyone yet, but I've been thinking, when we're ready to leave I figure we rent a wagon and a driver. The driver can lead us into an ambush, but then we counter attack when they go to search the wagon and find us. We take them alive, question them, rob them blind (including any uniforms or insignia) and send them back to town for justice. Based on the answers we get, we'll make the next part of the plan then and there."

"But that's just off the top of my head. What do you think?"

Evalynn listens, impressed with the plan. "Wow...I mean, yeah. That could work." She leans in, whispering for no apparent reason. "I mean, if I'm honest, I've never really done anything like that before, but hey...first time for everything!" The last part is louder and more awkward than she intended.

She lowers her voice again. "For the sake of team work and transparency, I've spent most of my life studying the divine word, and have mastered some pretty cool divine magic. I have one spell in particular that could be helpful. It forces people to be truthful. In fact, this one time I had a girlfriend back home who I thought was cheating on me, and my Daddy thought it was a terrible idea to throw her ass into the Zone of Truth, but let me tell you, if you don't have nothing to hide..." She locked eyes with Sera, and stopped talking. "I mean...that's just one of the tricks I have up my sleeve."

Seraphina nods. "This Zone of Truth sounds very useful, Evalynn. For "the sake of transparency," I'm good at stabbing things. Occasionally soften them up from range first, or sneak up on them from behind, but it's all just variations on stabbing. I've picked up a few useful skills here and there, like picking locks and cooking breakfast. No spells of any kind, just not in my blood."

Tau, you got any tricks up your sleeve? Other than those huge arms of yours?"

Tau smirks, it was the time to speak of his prowess.

Tau once catched an arrow on the air, hunter got angry cause Tau made him lose his prey. Tau didn't mean to, but hunter got angry and tried to harm Tau, so Tau broke hunter arm.

Realizing the conversation took a grim turn, Tau tries to save himself.

Tau also good with animals, Tau speaks with animal.

Seraphina, Evalynn, and Tau approach the wall area where they see 3 trees that form an unilateral triangle and a tent. It isn't a large tent and you suspect it is where the druids are living. A small bit of smoke is escaping it so it appears someone is home.

Shadows of the day come as sparse clouds give some passing shade. It is a warmer day and by looks no rain in the forecast. A nice breeze blows here. You can see the leaves on the three large trees ruffle. The breeze makes it harder to see the smoke coming from what must be a stove inside the tent. It appears to be made more into a permanent home. You see the walls of it have been dyed to a greener color. The tent appears to have just a flap to enter by. With the breeze you can see it is unlatched as it moves too much. The three trees are rare for this area and appear to be very hard wood ones. It is impossible to tell if they were here first or the walls of the city were. But they appear to be rather old taller ones.

Seraphina takes charge and leads the way into the tent. She's more about practicality than politeness, but she's got a healthy fear of Druids and does her best not to offend anyone. She clears her throat at the entrance to the tent.

Tau spies a squirrel on the trees but nothing else.
A male voice calls out from inside the tent, Come in as You must want to see me.

You see two men sitting at a table eating what you guess is blackened fish. By dress and all you fairly sure these both are druids as the seem to have matching clothing. Your guess the taller of the two sitting down is the one that called to you as the other is busy eating his fish and the taller one is facing the entrance way.

Seraphina enters the tent. Her voice is less confident. Something about the magic of druids unsettles her.

"Yes, thank you. I won't waste your time - we're part of the team that's going into the forest to deal with the bandit troubles. I was hoping to learn something about the lay of the land, what to expect. Maybe a blessing of the forest, if it isn't too much trouble. Much appreciated."

Taller man rises to speak to you while the second continues to eat. What I know of the forest would take you long to understand.On the other hand, Bandits, raiders and such is a bit easier. Do take a sit and lets speak as I finish my meal. You see there are two benches in the tent to accommodate visitors. Room appears to be a mini church. You can see a drop wall in the end of room to divide sleeping quarters away. The small fireplace/kitchen was where the fish must have been cooking. There is no alter or such in the room and only one table with two chairs that they are using.

As you all get seated, the tall one continues as he eats, Seems there is a violation of the forests around us. We are unsure who or what it is. I warned the burgermister and others of it coming as we sensed, but no would listen and now it is upon us. I believe it is much more serious than other's believe. But who listens to mere men of the nature. He pauses to eat more a second and gives you a moment to digest what he has said.

He continues on, We here are more sensitive to the ways of nature. Others now are seeing the results of what is coming. Bandits and raiders, but they are only the tip of the true problem. We can't tell exactly where all this is coming from but I'm sure was from the deepest part of the forest and it is like an awakening. Perhaps something that has been there a long time ago.

My best advice is to be prepared. Things here are going to get worse. He goes back to finishing up his fish.

That man and the associates get up from the table. The associate goes to the back and brings forth a green orb that is about fist size.

The man says Through this you can sense what we speak of. This is something that you will ever want to do again. It draws heavy upon the user.

He takes out a cloth and places it and the orb on the ground before you. What you need to do is just concentrate upon this area and shortly you can follow it to the disturbance.

"It's fine, I got this."

She kneels before the orb and concentrates as she reaches out and touches the orb.

We all know Green is the evil Poison Warning color...
The High Druid and the assistant starts repeating a strange verse in an unknown language to the party. It distinctly strikes you as druidical. There seems to be an eerie quiet in the tent now. Like the noises of outside are gone.

A Sera hands approach the orb it has already become brighter and appears more active. She can feel the pulling as draw close. She quickly realizes it is all but too late to pull away. The orb has capture her hands and now forcing her to grasp the orb hard.

Now Sera fights her own enter self as the orb drains away at her. She realizes the Orb can now have her anytime it wishes. She can't resist its daunting power. Rest of the world is gone from her senses. Sera can't even feel her hands.

She is somehow outside the city on the southern side that has very light forest. She can feel it as the druids do. It has a joyful feel to it with harmony. Then she can sense a disruption in it. Seem it is coming stronger around both sides of the city and city itself is blocking the progression. But the city too show some darkness about it. It is party obscured.

You seem to be moving to the city. All seems barely even seeable through the darkness. The only really thing you see is a circle of light. It seems to shiver some. You immediate guess that to be the druid's area on the northern side of the city. You seem to move through it. As you do, you see everyone in the tent as bright as daylight.

What catches your attention too is the three trees. Every leaf upon them shimmers with sparkling essence. You don't know what it is but you can tell it is trying to fight the impending disruption. You don't see darkness outside the city. Your vision is slightly blurry but not darkened like in the city.

You can now sense the disruption fully. It seems so friendly for a moment too drawing you deeper, but you see threw the veil of it to know it only wishes to dominate and destroy you. You can feel the orb's shielding now and it is dwindling against the disruption as it tries to move you deeper in to the forest.

A fear like you haven't felt ever before takes hold of you. There is nothing you can do, but turn and run in fear. You can feel the disruption lashing at your soul as you run. Only what is left of the orb's shield is saving you as you race out of the forest. It seems forever running. You don't know why, but it was like your were very far into it. Or are you just confused running out.

It is the light of the druid's place your only hope as it is a beacon. It is only when you get back to it the attacks on you soul seem to stop. Your spirit and soul are totally drain. Your sure you could never fight against the disruption again and certainly not without the orb.

Evalynn springs to her feet and presses her hand to Sera's shoulder, casting Cure Wounds at 2nd Level. She then turns towards the druids and her eyes light up with intense flaming light. She is seething with anger immediately. "What the f*** did you do to her?!" She kneels between Sera and the druids like an angry dog, growling and gritting her teeth.

Evalynn sits on the ground next to Sera, leaning against a tree, and pulls a blanket from her pack. She covers Sera with it carefully, then sits forward with her arms wrapped around her knees, and looks up at Tau. "You sure about staying here? I'm okay if you want to get some shut eye. I'll keep watch." She yawns loudly. "At least for the first few hours...maybe you should stay here." She pats the ground next to her, motioning to him to sit next to her.

Fast forward things. Some goes back to inn and lets others know what happened. Night passes morning comes and Sera awakes full healed it seems. You all are at the three trees. The high priest and assistant aren't in their tent and it is closed up. Unless there a part of what happened to you Sera, you let the party know about your experience.

The High Druid and the assistant starts repeating a strange verse in an unknown language to the party. It distinctly strikes you as druidical. There seems to be an eerie quiet in the tent now. Like the noises of outside are gone.

A Sera hands approach the orb it has already become brighter and appears more active. She can feel the pulling as draw close. She quickly realizes it is all but too late to pull away. The orb has capture her hands and now forcing her to grasp the orb hard.

Now Sera fights her own enter self as the orb drains away at her. She realizes the Orb can now have her anytime it wishes. She can't resist its daunting power. Rest of the world is gone from her senses. Sera can't even feel her hands.

She is somehow outside the city on the southern side that has very light forest. She can feel it as the druids do. It has a joyful feel to it with harmony. Then she can sense a disruption in it. Seem it is coming stronger around both sides of the city and city itself is blocking the progression. But the city too show some darkness about it. It is party obscured.

You seem to be moving to the city. All seems barely even seeable through the darkness. The only really thing you see is a circle of light. It seems to shiver some. You immediate guess that to be the druid's area on the northern side of the city. You seem to move through it. As you do, you see everyone in the tent as bright as daylight.

What catches your attention too is the three trees. Every leaf upon them shimmers with sparkling essence. You don't know what it is but you can tell it is trying to fight the impending disruption. You don't see darkness outside the city. Your vision is slightly blurry but not darkened like in the city.

You can now sense the disruption fully. It seems so friendly for a moment too drawing you deeper, but you see threw the veil of it to know it only wishes to dominate and destroy you. You can feel the orb's shielding now and it is dwindling against the disruption as it tries to move you deeper in to the forest.

A fear like you haven't felt ever before takes hold of you. There is nothing you can do, but turn and run in fear. You can feel the disruption lashing at your soul as you run. Only what is left of the orb's shield is saving you as you race out of the forest. It seems forever running. You don't know why, but it was like your were very far into it. Or are you just confused running out.

It is the light of the druid's place your only hope as it is a beacon. It is only when you get back to it the attacks on you soul seem to stop. Your spirit and soul are totally drain. Your sure you could never fight against the disruption again and certainly not without the orb.

the town lays on east to west roads. Both gates on the east and west are relatively equal in size. To the south is more open plains. To the north is forest till hills and mountain. It is mostly unexplored territory as it has no roads and goes no where civilized.

It isn't a long walk to the western gate. There is some activity about, but that isn't uncommon, but what you don't see is it moving to go out the gate. You would say by easy estimates that there could be as many as 3 wagon looking to want to leave possibly. They do appears to be filled but there are no teams of horse hitched to them but as expected people watching over them.

As you have seen mostly in this town that is heavily male orientated and fewer females about working. So it is a touch of surprise to see one of the three wagons appears to have 2 females watching over it.

I'd say stay together whenever possible, but if anyone wants to split off that's fine. I figure we are hanging around the gate inquiring about additional jobs, asking around about going rates for caravan guards, and asking people who have been outside the city about the bandits situation - numbers, tactics, that kind of thing. Will eventually wander over to whatever tavern is nearby that seems like a watering hole for merchants and caravan guards and ask the same questions.

Nessie had been so preoccupied by taking in the sights of the city around her that she didn't notice the diminutive threat to her shins before it was too late. After the collision, Nessie sucks in a sharp hiss, bringing her foot up and grabbing protectively at her leg while hopping on the other foot. The large greatsword sheathed upon her back bounces up and down with each hop. She whines in a way that belies her considerable size, "Ohh, ow.. ow, Gods, that smarts. Real, real sorry 'bout that there, m-.. Miss Hollysharp?!"

The jewelry tied between her horns jingles about cheerily as Nessie's excitement seems to outweigh her pain. She stammers, "What.. what, what, what are you even doing here? Er.. not that that's bad at all, it's.. real great to see you!"

"Why I oughta ... wait, Nessie?"

Her hand falls away from her blade, and she waits for Nessie to stammer out before answering.

"Yeah, we are a long way from home. Chasing a bounty brought me out this way. Slaver." She spits on the ground.

"How 'bout you? How's your family? Hey, everybody, this is my old friend Nessie, a more dangerous warrior I've never met. Nessie, this is my new team."

She steps aside to allow her comrades to introduce themselves if they wish.

She's drawn from her thoughts by Monte's question, and she nods her head eagerly. "Aye, it is, Miss Monte. A lot of people mistake the clan name for the personal name, though. They're flip-flopped from what a lot of cultures do. My atar told me about all of that, and they gave me a historic clan name to honor my heritage. My atar is Elven though, but I'm Dragonborn through and through, can't you tell?" She snorts amusedly, puffing out her chest before exhaling a breath of visibly frigid air in front of her.

Nessie was asking around when she encounter the party. So she had not found a potential caravan to guard. As apparent that there isn't one going out right now. The general fear is you will not survive.

Gene, are you waiting on us for anything? I think we are all ready to skip to a scene involving hiring on to caravan. If no such thing is available, let's just buy a wagon, head out of the city, and find some bandits that way..

Over the time waiting, you learn that no one wants to leave the city through the eastern gate. Losses have been too high. The three wagons there were going to go out but have decided it appears not to leave. The Mistress is an exception to the normal runners as she will hire females where the other tend never to. Most all the caravans and wagoneers are very male dominated here. Needless to day she is rather disliked here. The two male wagoneers are hauling Barrels of drink and the other one is filled with clothing. Mistress is hauling armor. From what you gather it is cheap armor too.

You imagine the western gate is probably about the same.

The general guard jobs around the city appear to pay very little in comparison to guarding wagons/caravans. Although there is a demand there. You also do find that most all have no concern of the druids or anything they have to say.

Was there anything specific that your doing besides waiting for the even and the mistress. You discover she is human and rather fat female. About as around as tall.

Seraphina will pick up a shortbow, quiver, and 20 arrows. She'll shift over some items to Nessie to compensate for the weight and stay light on her toes (I'll look up those details in a bit). Otherwise, she looks forward to the evening encounter with the mistress.

While they wait, Monte picks up a small whet stone and oil from a local blacksmith. As the group begins to wait she will sit and read from one of her books. As it gets closer to the time of the meeting she will start to sharpen her spear and polish her shield.
