Lancer Mech Skill Terminology
This is basically a situation where the names were change to protect the innocent or not so innocent. I simply prefer accurate nomenclature when it comes to names of things. All of these have to do with some sort of Engineering field so calling one of the Engineering seemed wrong, further they named one Systems and then had another one be focused on Systems. Hopefully these new names will not through anyone off. Further if there is something not outlined under one of these categories that seems like it ought to be let me know and I will add it in. So other than that -- there were a couple very minor changes to maintain consistency within what a skill actually covered and did not cover and these should be fairly easy to understand and incorporate.
[ +- ] Frames
(Original Called Hull)
This covers the Lancer's ability to build/pilot durable, structurally sound mechs that can take a licking and keep on ticking
Frame checks are made when smashing through or pulverizing obstacles, vehicles or buildings. As well as lifting, dragging, pushing, or hurling an enormous weight which includes grabbing or wrestling with mechs or mech-sized creatures. It is also used when resisting a huge amount of force or damage and still retaining basic structural integrity.
[ +- ] Handling
(Original Called Agility)
This covers the Lancer's ability to build/pilot fast, evasive, highly responsive, agile and yet stable mechs
Handling checks are made when chasing, pursuing, or fleeing with incredible speed. As well as performing acrobatic maneuvers, hiding or moving undetected, dodging out of the way of danger, staying upright in cataclysmic weather, or performing a feat of fine manual dexterity. When traveling or moving safely through hazardous or hostile environments.
[ +- ] Electronics
(Original Called System)
This covers the Lancer's ability to build/pilot advanced mechs with powerful electronic warfare capabilities
Electronic checks are made when infiltrating hardened and powerful electronic systems or boosting or weakening the electronic systems of ones own or another mech or any other targeted electronic system. This also includes boosting or suppressing an electronic signal, engaging in electronic warfare, scanning or analyzing scanned information, interfacing with unfamiliar electronic systems or electronic life forms.
[ +- ] Systems
(Original Called Engineering)
This covers the Lancer's ability to build/pilot mechs with effective reactors, supplies, and support systems
System checks are made when pushing one's mech past its power normal limits as well as adjusting it to withstand extreme conditions such as heat, cold, void, or radiation. This also covers things like using a mech's reactor like a forge without damaging it, boosting the reactor output of one's mech or some other unit. It governs the ability to conserve and efficiently use ammo, power and other mech related resources.
