The fiery wall in the dark stone crypt produces an unreal northern barrier to the King's coffin. The mummy lord floats before that wall wrapped in a spectral guardian form of Tezca that has already rendered damage to one of the party. At his heels is a cave bear the party has learned to be the not so gentle form of their new plumaweaver friend. Their new jaguar tabaxi knight is stunned, while other members of the party are nearly unconscious, while the goddess possessed warlock lies close to death. The party cannot turn its back and face the mummy lord without ignoring the one ordinary mummy that stands over the charred remains of his prince. The enlarged Goliath cries out to Kiltzi's love and succor.

"The Gods have abandoned you as they had me. The First Man was right! We will find divinity by our own acts. We do not need the Old Gods. Join me and we will take back Maztica from them," calls out the Mummy King!

Caine easily shakes off her stun, but before the effect is fully gone, she swings at the ordinary mummy, unfortunately missing it completely. "Will someone stab that damn heart?!" she yells out to the party.

The eldritch knight fills the mummy with fire and drops his head with his ax. The mummy is down.

Duke as Dire Red Fox

Duke the Fox Knight turns to see his Kitty lying injured down on the ground and rushes to her. He picks her head up gently in his hand and lays his lips upon hers. He fills his thoughts with Kiltzi and her avatar. The act of love acts as a laying of hands and she wakes to 5 hit points, gasps for air and answers his passionate kiss. Breaking away from her embrace, Duke fills her eyes with love even as his thoughts grow into rage. His hair grows orange with the anger. The bonus action transformation into the beast is common in his family, but the form isn't an eagle or jaguar. As he had done on the Temple of Zaltec to chase the vampire interloper, Duke finds his fox form and looks to the King hovering above the party speaking defiling words against Qotal and Kiltzi. The Fox Knight barks his squeaky bark at the King's speech. Duke as a dire red fox turns and stretches his howl to the mummy lord. The health of his new form fills him with strength and vigor. One more look at his love and back to his enemy, he growls at the mummy lord and races up into melee with him.
OOC:
Duke has gained the 28 hit points of the fox form.
The mummy lord answers with a legendary action. He attacks the cave bear with a rotting fist.

The putrid mummy strikes the bear with such force that Xoch’ can’t sustain wild shape and a Xoch’s natural form sustains a large wound as well (bloodied).

General completely unrelated question: does the flame go all the way to the ceiling?

Yes. I described the wall of fire being the full 20 feet in height.
OOC:
Ok got it. I thought the ceilings were higher, but you described them as vaulting to 40 feet, not 40 feet everywhere.

Caught in a rage of fury, I strike out at the Mummy King fiercely, taking advantage of my increased 10-foot reach (doubled size from enlarge) to not personally enter the aura of protection like my companion has. Unfortunately, my rage has blinded me as I seek to protect my family - I direct my swarm to knock the cursed thing back into the wall of fire despite the fact that it will take one of my newer companions with it. This thing needs to die, and die right now.

The Mummy King strikes the cave bear turned owlman once more with his rotting fist, moves another five feet forward to be between Xoch' and Stormslayer and begins to twirl so that the dust flies around him. He tries to blind the two warriors with that dust.

Xoch' and Storm, please make a CON save DC16 or be blinded.

Focusing on the Mummy King's every move so I can be ready to defend my companions, I do not see the sand building until it is in my eyes...
