Kit can’t stand to see anyone else get hurt. With that, she tries to imagine the mummy king turning into a little rabbit. The perfect bait for her fox.
OOC:
One Polymorph please.

Wow, less than average rolls, but unwilling undead mage kings at 10th level magic tend to have great resistances to magic...
The Mummy King takes the spell and deflects its power, maintaining it's evil form.

Leaving his shadow behind, the Jaguar Knight charges the mummy king, ramming it with h8s shield in an attempt to knock it to the ground. Then he slashes at it with the flaming mācahuitl before switching places with his shadow in the blink of an eye.

Give me a DEX save DC 16 against Guardian of Faith that protects the Mummy King

Rolls

Shove attempt (Athletics) - (1d20+8)

(13) + 8 = 21

Magic Mācuahuitl, possible advantage if Prone, damage, fire damage - (1d20+8, 1d8+7, 1d6)

1d20+8 : (9) + 8 = 17

1d8+7 : (2) + 7 = 9

1d6 : (4) = 4

Forgot the advantage attack roll in case mummy loses shove contest - (1d20+8)

The Tabaxi charges and knocks the Mummy Lord from his levitated position onto the ground. Although the Guardian of Faith spirit of Tezca wields his mācahuitl at Tec and does at least some damage (20 points), the spell soon after stands inert with the Mummy is now on the floor and no longer there at the guardian's center.

The damage to the King is real, but the flames are the most spectacular as the greenish purple flames surround him.

The Mummy King uses a legendary action to swing his rotting fist at the target he can reach from his prone position, the Jaguar Knight that knocked him prone. He swings but only finds shadow stuff as the Knight has already switched places with his shadow.
OOC:
Everyone has advantage on attacks on the prone King.

Rolls

STR check against shove - (1d20+4)

(8) + 4 = 12

OOC:
Dexterity save DC 16 vs. Guardian of Faith.

Ugh!
That makes 20 points damage then. Are you still on your feet? Can you make the shadow swap?

(10) + 2 = 12

The guardian's blinding radiance sears the Jaguar Knight for a moment but the tabaxi makes the swap and still stands.
OOC:
That's good. I would have allowed the shove from your momentum, but not your attack or your escape from his attack. Awesome.
OOC:
That leaves me at 25 HP.

Caine sighs as she sees the shape shifter fall. "I am done with this!" she exclaims as she strides over to him. She approaches him, trying to avoid being in the king's reach if possible, and begins to stabilize Xoch'. As she does, she notices the chest on his person. Quickly with a free hand, she snatches it up. Flicking the lid open, she pulls out her dagger and stabs the heart inside the chest, saying a silent prayer to the gods she doesn't believe in that doing so will help their fight.

Rolls

Medicine - (1d20+5)

(9) + 5 = 14

Thanks Kilikina, I um, didn't realize I still had the heart until it was too late for me to do anything about it.

It’s more than okay! I realize that, please don’t take my character’s short temper as my own. I’m just honestly curious what’ll happen when the heart gets stabbed lol.

Caine uses her field medical knowledge and stabilizes Xoch' so he doesn't have to make death saves against an untimely end. Giving the mummy's heart an untimely end, she also incurs the wraith and notice of the Mummy King.

"Arrrrgh! You will pay for that!"

Not liking being at a disadvantage on the ground and with no one to hit with a legendary action and NOT wanting to wait for his turn to get up from prone, the Mummy King draws around him the sand whirlwind and spins around like the cyclone he is to try to knock down the party. Even if he triggers opportunity attacks from the party members, he is immune to all damage in this form. He returns to levitate and returns to normal inside the Guardian of Faith which reactivates.
OOC:
I would normally ask everyone make a DEX save against the whirlwind to stay up rather than being knocked prone, but getting up on your turn is only half your movement, so the lashing out by the Mummy King has no real effect in the light that he has something worse planned for his own turn... There are no other mummies to capitalize on y'all being prone. Carry on.

Wanting to end this I charge at the mummy king and unload on his shriveled self with my axe, using my action surge (still unused).

Kon rushes the Mummy King, but the Guardian swings at him for 20 points of slashing damage. Having delivered 60 points of damage, the Guardian spell dissipates and the Mummy King settles back down to the floor again without his protection.

Are you down? or do you deliver those 51 points of ax damage?

Oh, I"m definitely down. I only had about 17 hp after doing my second wind. Tell me how it ends..:)

The brave Kon goes down. The silver lining is that he hasn't expended his Action Surge yet, lol.

The Dire Red Fox is happy to see the Spectral Tezca disappear and the Mummy King rest on the floor where he can bite him with his pack of adventurer friends coming in around the tough old royal, but he sees Kon fall in front of him and prefers to do good by his friend. He runs up and licks the crotchety dwarf on the cheek, effectively laying hands on him and waking him up with 5 hit points. Exhausted, the Fox Knight in fox form empties his pool of healing, giving Kon his all.
Mar 7, 2021 3:36 am
The Mummy King may be alone surrounded by a band of brothers intent on terminating his unlife, but he is far from powerless. As a great mage king, he still has powerful spell slots and casts Insect Plague once more directly in front of him and encompassing all of the party in a cloud of biting locust.
OOC:
Everyone make a CON save of 17 to half the damage of the bites of the thousands of little bugs that swarm the room and make it obscure and difficult terrain.
Kon is the first to fall unconscious, having just barely revived.

Rolls

Insect Plague (or half on save) - (4d10)

(1452) = 12

Duke's CON save - (1d20+1)

(13) + 1 = 14

Swatting away the annoying bugs, I choose to blindly lunge forward to grapple with the mummy king and drag him into the flames, the direction of which I can sense by the heat it emits.
OOC:
No idea if the enlarged states advantage on strength checks (which I read grapple as being) I don't know how that works when disadvantaged by being blinded. So I'm going to roll a bunch of athletics strength tests for grappling and dragging and stuff. The lyrical one can do with it as he sees.
