Background
So, my character is fairly intelligent, I figure that gives me the right to do some online research for various enemy types. And I found details on the mimic. But I can't figure out if it is immune to bludgeoning attacks. The listing only says it's immune to acid. But being amorphous, I question whether it can be cut or bludgeoned, so I'm not sure what attack options are available to me.
On a separate note, I make up the stats. See rule #1. The stats on the internet are merely guidelines. See rule #2. Looking up monster stats at the table is poor form. I guess I should add back the hit points that I lowered on the the monster lol. If you want to investigation or insight on a monster, you should roll skill checks for it. Just sayin.
I wasn't really looking for stats per se, but just trying to figure out if the monster was at all attackable. I didn't know that I could "roll" skills on stuff like that. So... I'm sorry! I didn't mean to be a bad player. :(
Maybe I need to find a "crash course" in playing D&D specifically, so I don't miss obvious things like this. Cause... man, investigating was exactly what I wanted to do... I just never thought that I could do it as the character.
Again, I'm probably over-explaining. I just feel bad for displaying such bad form at the table. Chalk it up to ignorance, if you will, and I'll move on. And I'll just try to ask more questions about what I can and can't do.
For one thing, I wasn't sure whether or not you would scale the stats of monsters relative to my characters level, or if I ran the risk of dying cause I didn't know enough about a monster to know that I should run instead of fight, etc. I worry too much. I would just hate to get my character killed off before "meeting up" with the party.
Now I'm rambling. Sorry again!
Rolls
Insight (still not sure what proficiency means) - (1d20+2)
(12) + 2 = 14
Investigation (no proficiency on this one) - (1d20+2)
(19) + 2 = 21
Through your logical investigation you conclude that it is only sticky when it is an object.
Hey One. Watch this!, she yells as she flame throws the rope.
Rolls
AoE Dexterity save for rope - (1d20+1)
(1) + 1 = 2
Breathe damage - (2d6)
(63) = 9
You attack with a bone, you barabarian you. You do not have proficiency with an improvised weapon (like a brawler and some monks do) so it is a straight STR mod on attack.
Rolls
Bone attack - (1d20+3)
(6) + 3 = 9
Rolls
Pod attack - (1d20+5)
(20) + 5 = 25
