Funny story about that image; Mortica was originally Mortimer. But when i went avatar searching, I found that image. obviously a gender change was in order. since we're calling out avatar pics, galdr has a nice one as well.

There are several things that could be said about Carter Ward, but stupid is not one of them. Impulsive would be fair. Morally questionable? Perhaps. Eccentric? Absolutely.

While assisting his mentor, Wymar Armitage III, with a ritual, some sort of unearthly entity emerged from a portal and nearly tore him to pieces. The incident nearly left poor Carter with a tremor he couldn’t shake, not to mention the scar across his left eye and the chunk taken out of his left ear. Armitage wasn’t so lucky; he was torn limb from limb.

"Absolute idiot. He should have known the power he was toying with." Of course, the irony wasn’t lost on Carter. He raided the library, and was able to peruse his mentor’s records. One word kept coming up again and again. Barovia.

In an effort to recover from his mentor’s tragedy, and to continue his research, Carter Ward has come to Barovia with one goal: to learn the secrets that others dare not explore. Science cares not for the morals and ethics of men, and neither shall he. Progress and knowledge are worthy goals in their own right.

Understandable, and thanks. Sometimes artwork leaps out at you and inspires a new direction.

Don't worry. I know one or two about a Gith who gets yanked in four directions by phantom horses. It's a real killer.

Thankfully, Kar'i'nas doesn't share this painful sense of humor.

hey guys, I built a human ranger/fighter for this game (a character I've played a dozen times) but I'd be happy to change. It seems like the ranger roll is well filled. I have a dwarf barbarian/monk I could use instead. He was caught stealing from a wealthy family when he was just a kid, and he spent 100 years in prison for it. During that time, he became a master of unarmed combat, the best pugilist in prison full of pugilists, but he also learned to meditate as an attempt (usually unsuccessful) to control his rage.

Let me know.

My vote is play what you wish. "Roles" may be helpful, but are not rules.

Play which ever one that allows you to have the most fun.

I usually find with published adventures a balanced party is best, but all right, human ranger/fighter it is. Skallagrimm is a miserable old man, and I mean that in the most fun ways possible....
