Back Story

Once back out on the alley, I turn to the left. You grab my arm and direct me to the right and we head toward the clothier she recommended. "It has turned into such a fine day, Kitty. What finery are you looking for? I only have the coin that Storm split with us, but it should do nicely. After all, we are successful adventurers and future town leaders. I would want to show you off in the best dress Nexal has ever seen. The capitol is splendid, or at least it used to be. I believe Jacob has plans to restore Nexal to its glory."

I smile at you as I grab your hand and squeeze it. "My love, my coin is yours as well. We are mates, we can share coin too. But yes, this has been a refreshing change! I'd like to see if we can find a nice dress for myself and maybe a nice outfit for you dear. Would you want to have a bit of finer garb? Would that be too reminiscent of your days in the temple?"

"I guess we have never had to deal with coin on the road. You are right about sharing, but you keep the coin. I can’t keep urchins from stealing mine. I trust you." I hand you the 33 coins that I have left from Storm’s division. "Yes. If Jacob is intent on going to Zaltec’s temple then we do need some better clothes. Besides, I get to sit in a chair and watch you come out in dress after dress. And here we are! I open the door to peek inside to see if it is safe, before opening the door for you to enter."

I giggle and thank you as I enter. I let out a small gasp as I look at all of the elegant and finer clothing options. Like a child in a bakery, I rush around looking excitedly at all the different options. I grab a dress and rush to try it on. Coming out, I ask you, "Is this too elegant you think?"

You come out in that dress and I learn that this divan is too small. I fall and half to pick myself off the floor. That's my story and I'm sticking with it. "WOW. That looks similar to the one you wore as Sune, but oh so much better. To answer your question, I would have to say that you can never be too formal in the Capitol of all of Maztica. Look they have a formal knight outfit. Let me try it on."

I gasp and giggle, pushing you back into the changing room. Whispering, I say, "Get back in there and try something less revealing, I'm not sharing your body with the whole of Nexal, that's mine!"

"Ok, How about a tunic?"

I grab you by the collar of your tunic and pull you in for a deep kiss. "I love it, you look like a sexy desert prince." My eyes open as the torch in my brain lights. I rush to grab a dress I saw earlier and zoom past you into the fitting room. After a few moments, I come back out. "I'd say we are at least closer to matching now. You?"

Kisses you long in our matching white and gold colors. "You have so many options! Everything looks good on you, There is hardly anything else for me here besides something I wouldn't mind sneaking around in the dark with. I have to laugh though, to imagine me sneaking anywhere in my plate mail. These two look fabulous together and I have to say that your dress looks more refined and sophisticated than the first one. You can pull the elegant look off so much better now than when you went as Sune. I love you so much more now and I cannot even understand how that is possible."

"I'd say the difference between Sune and me now is maturity, that's why I'm able to pull off the elegant look better. Possibly pregnancy glow," she laughed before she finished responding, "I love you so much more as well. Let's buy these! Is there anything else you'd like to do before we go back to the inn?"

"And you do glow, but you will glow more if you buy yourself some shoes to match. Nothing that will be practical on a pirate ship mind you. Then let's head back. Do we show them or just walk into court with these?" I remember something! "We need to drop back by the apothecary! We need more health potions. I wonder how much we can afford?"

Giggling, I kiss your cheek. "Let's show them off when we get there. I'll grab those golden, strappy heels and we'll head back to the apthothecary. These get ups are, uhhh" I spin in a circle a bit chasing the tag just behind my arm on the dress, "About 50gp... that's a lot of gold pieces... but we'll have enough for however many potions we need."

I look at the prices in the window and gasp.

"Ohh, I think I am glad to have found potions in that cache of the abolith's. We can't even afford one potion. These prices are rich!

I guess we will have to do better at raiding or maybe we can barter components. She didn't say anything about buying, but if we has handed her some abolith liver, I bet she would have put down a chest of gold in front of us. I hope Kon is amenable to using his bag of colding like I claimed.

Ok, let's go on back to the Inn. I can't wait to show these clothes off."

Eyes wide at the prices, I responded, "I’m sorry love, at least we have something. Yes, let’s head back, I’m thinking that Ana is starving as wants a huge bowl of stew all to herself, definitely not me..." she says with a cheeky grin. That night, once we adjourned to our rope tent, as we duffed our armor, I ask, "I apologize, but how can you remember when we first met so fondly? I can’t stand looking back on that time."

Still amazed you ordered two bowls of stew for us and then ate both of them, I relax in our rope trick and sponge bath in the tub. Forget the battle. Clothes shopping always tire me.

"I find it strange that you do not see the beauty in our time at Aum. Yes. I know that it didn’t end well apparently. I’m still a little confused by it all. But to me, meeting you meant that I woke up from my long quest in Faerun right at the moment when I had to face Maztica and the arranged marriage I had to face. It helped me make a decision to better my life, even though it meant forsaking my Eagle Knight oath that I had worked so hard on. For you I suppose, your experience was one of constant struggle to deal with your Sir and the trap you felt with your chores at the Inn and your prospects if you left. I cannot pretend to understand what you went through with your Sir in order to escape the Inn, but you have told me that you had to run to keep us safe. I can appreciate that Aum didn’t hold any pleasant memories but still you say you remembered me fondly, yes? And now you are with me. We are reuniting with your parents. Life is grand! Everything before this moment has led us up to this moment."

I lean over the edge of the tub and raise an eyebrow at you. "I'm not sure if my father will shake your hand or scowl at you. Granted you were defending me and the inn, you still started a fight. I heard about that, I ran into someone from Aum a few months after I left. Of course I remember you fondly, you were exactly how I'd expect you to be, not horribly different from yourself now. I loved you then like I love you now, but that doesn't remove the extreme heartache at the end that left a terrible stain on that memory!

I never asked though, did Brother... oh what was his name... Arthur? Did he ever go and get you like I told him to?"

"Oh yeah, Brother Arnold did come from me and stop me from chasing someone on a boat who I thought was you. But I thought he was doing that because my father wanted me back and married to the Kiltzi accolyte."

"He did that because I told him to keep you from running after me. Just like I told you to go back home and stand up for yourself. And he was just in time, I was terrified hearing you call out to me from the dock."

"I’m so sorry! That’s not the last sound of my voice I wanted to leave you with. I found out only a day or so after you left that Helm’s Silver Knights had apprehended Farthus and his whole cartel and thrown him into the deepest dungeon. No one was chasing after you. You didn’t have to run after all."

I lean in and give you a loving kiss, "It's alright love, I still get the last look at you as you peacefully sleeping on the dress shop's floor and you were... hard to leave. But I knew they apprehended Farthus, I was there for that. I didn't know they caught the rest of the cartel though. Maybe I should've stuck around..."
