Driving

You are driving north on I-95. The next town coming up is Crystal.

OOC:
Amy should be at the diner, right? Group 1 subforum.

He keeps driving to Crystal, highway relatively empty. He's keeping an eye on the highway signs to get a general bearing of his geographic location, something more specific than "on the East Coast".

He's also taking a look around the car, seeing whether there's anything useful inside.

The interstate sign reads "I-95 Maine". A quick look around doesn't reveal much of interest. The glove compartment contains the usual paraphernalia; insurance papers, registration, the owner's manual, a mirror, two ink pens, and a handful of paper napkins. Are you coming off at Crystal?
Aug 6, 2020 4:48 pm
OOC:
Yeah, might as well check the place out.
Aug 6, 2020 5:44 pm
OOC:
Oops. I'm sorry, there is no off-ramp at Crystal. The next one is at Crystal Road and the thriving community of Island Falls.
Aug 7, 2020 3:52 pm
You come off the interstate at Island Falls, a town with a population of approximately 837 citizens. You head east into town, finding not even the usual collection of gas stations, truck stops, and fast-food joints.
Aug 7, 2020 4:38 pm
Seeing nothing of worth, he decides to move on from the town and continue on the highway.
OOC:
How much cash does he have?
Aug 7, 2020 4:45 pm
OOC:
You find $45 in your wallet.
Aug 10, 2020 4:35 pm
You press on. The next exit is at Oakfield and the signs indicate a few gas stations and a couple of non-brand take-out joints.
Aug 10, 2020 8:38 pm
OOC:
Continue to press on until I get to the border or until I get to a bigger town.
Aug 17, 2020 6:45 pm
You drive on, eventually turning east with the interstate. You pass a couple of exits that offer little of interest, but coming up is the exit for the town of Houlton. There appear to be a number of options for lodging and eating, as well as a hospital. Signs indicate that the Canadian border is ahead.
Aug 17, 2020 10:53 pm
OOC:
Is there a library with open use computers? If so, I'll head there first.
Aug 25, 2020 6:54 pm
You don't see a library, nor any directions to one.
Aug 25, 2020 10:44 pm
Grunting at the lack of libraries, he instead started looking for a store that might sell wilderness survival kits. He'll visit and buy a cheap kit, along with a cheap jacket.

OOC:
Actually, taking a closer look at Houlton, you can find a library. There is also a Wal*Mart available.
Sep 1, 2020 3:55 am
He'll visit the library, and look at an road map atlas book. What he's looking for is directions to different national parks, starting from nearby, all the way down the Appalachian mountain range. He'll take notes on a piece of paper.
Sep 1, 2020 8:04 pm
Okay, no problem. You find Baxter State park about two-and-a-half hours by car to the west of your current location. White Mountain National Forest is about 4 hours and 15 minutes away, in New Hampshire. Seven-and-a-half hours will take you to Adirondack Park, in New York. You continue down the path, making notes of all the parks along the mountain range.
Sep 2, 2020 12:34 am
He nods satisfied.

Now he hits the store for the aforementioned items, with emphasis on getting a complete wilderness survival kit.
Sep 7, 2020 7:08 pm
Wal*Mart should have pretty much everything you need. So that I don't have to go to their website to look up prices, let's just say that you can put together a basic survival kit for 35 bucks.
