Happy Wagon Trails

"Nessie, you should introduce us. You look the most ferocious!"

She pushes Nessie forward, or at least tries to.

Half pushed at the back of the knee and half startled by the sudden pressure, Nessie stumbles forward a bit. "Uhh," she starts, glancing around herself and then up at the Mistress, "Um, hello there. My name is Nessie. This is Miss Hollysharp." She glances back at Sera, and then looks at the others in tow, realizing that in the pressure of the moment she has forgotten a couple names. she looks back at the Mistress and murmurs, "And.. uh.. company."

The dragonborn does her best to stand tall and proud as she says, "We are, each of us, capable warriors, and we'd like to be hired on as your guards for this immediate venture."

Seraphina has strapped on her shield and proudly displays her weapon (and stands on her toes discretely).

Monte leans against a nearby horse hitch and busies herself with checking the sharpness of the point of her spear. "Yo." she waves over at the Mistress. Then twirls her spear into her back holster.

"Why won't they hire us?" Seraphina responds.

"You're saying that if you hired us, no one else would..? How come?"

Nessie looks a bit displeased by that, "Well, if that's the case, then they wouldn't hire us anyway." She gestures vaguely to herself, Sera and Monte. "May as well work with you, yeah?"

"You must be the ones I am looking for." He says in an almost whisper when he saw the party that fit the bill of the ones he saw in a dream.

Godfrey, from a far he looks human but getting closer one would notice that behind his thick blonde hair his ears are quite pointed. A half elf in light travelers attire and wearing a circlet with a red stone (Circlet of Blasting). He carries with him a crystal orb and only has two daggers as his weapon, he doesn't look much like an adventurer.

"This is destiny." Godfrey approaches, his eyes sparkle with excitement.

"I'll help them out my lady." Godfrey enters the conversation.

"The angels arranged an encounter with this young ladies who may need my assistance. And to them I am happy to comply." He talks as if he's got one loose screw in the head.

He didn't even pay attention much to what the party's job was.

"How rude of me not to introduce myself to you ladies. I'm Godfrey Valadriel, emissary of the Celestials." He introduced himself with a wide smile on his face, arms open and away from his weapons to show that he mean no harm.

Nessie stares at Godfrey for a moment, a bit slack-jawed, eyes wide. She looks back toward Seraphina, a puzzled expression on her face. She holds her hands out, as if expecting an explanation.

"So you saying none of these other poor bastardswould hire us on once we been with you? Well buncha right shit, that is. I say fuck 'em and show 'em what's what by getting your wagon through the cursed bloody wood, eh?" Everyone who looks at Monte sees a fire in her eye as she speaks.

As Godfrey approaches and starts talking, Monte turns to stare at him with cold indifference. Then looks towards Sera and raises an eyebrow while thumbs over at Godfrey.

Seraphina turns to this new dressed-up half elf and sizes him up in a second. Daggers were serviceable, but the tiara and crystal orbs look like something out of a charlatan costume for what an adventurer might look like. Then she catches the gem in the sunlight and realizes that the tiara isn't fake, and the crystal has a faint swirling going on. Way too pretty to be an actual adventurer though.

"Excuse me, we're in the middle of business negotiations," she says with mild annoyance. "I'm sorry Mistress, we don't know this man."

Did he say Angels?

"So cold, why do they have to be so cold." He frowns as he mumble to himself. He looks up as if praying or asking someone from above for answers. He pauses for a moment.

"Prove myself useful? ...eh? But how would I do that?" The man with a loose screw in the head starts speaking to himself. He nods several times agreeing to something no one could hear.

"But that's..." Godfrey sighs as a raise his crystal orb.

With the gift of Misty Visions, he whispers words to the orb and conjures an angel!
A celestial, a handsome, muscular, 10 ft tall, winged angel appears beside Godfrey.

"With my patrons guidance wouldn't the journey be safer." Godfrey winks at the mistress. The angel copies Godfrey's movements and winks as well.

Nessie is wide-eyed, eyes flitting between Godfrey, the angel, the Mistress, and Sera. She takes a long step backward, placing herself behind Seraphina. Social engagements were scarier than anything she could swing a sword at.

"Eeeeeek!" Startled by the sudden hostility the mad hermit almost jumped back.

"Le-Let's talk about it first." Godfrey pleads.

"I was just gonna show the map of the bloody forest." Godfrey says as he transform the illusion into a map of a forest path and point at it while he cautiously move backwards.

"Its just an illusion ladies, no need for violence. Admittedly the man could have used a bit of tact." she smirks but moves to intercept drawing only her shield. She wasn't about to stand around and let this poor deranged man be slain for no reason.

Seraphina nods in agreement with Monte, walking with her toward the guards. "Yeah, but let's let the whole town see how we handle ourselves against these big, strong, manly guards. That map might be nice, too."

"Whoa, whoa!" Nessie shouts, holding up a hand to halt as she enters into the fray, "We need to relax!"

"Alright, so are we hired or what?" Seraphina shouts out to the cowering Mistress.

I do hope I am not interrupting. The dwarf speaks in a quiet tone, expecting others to make an effort to hear him. He looks at the many gatherer, his glance lingering on a few for longer than the others. I have seen some of you... in a vision. A prophecy, perhaps. Grave tidings for this place.

Monte under her breath so only really those next to her can hear, "No magicks around the common folk. Good way to get skewered quickly." she glances over at Godfrey.

Loudly Monte calls out "Yes, what say you Mistress? Or should we find a man to do the job?" At this last she acts as though looking at another caravan but gives Seraphina a sly wink.

Godfrey cancels the illusion and made an awkward smile relieved that he didn't get hurt this time. He looks at the new character in the scene, another one with the visions?

"See, I'm not the only mad man who saw a vision of you." He mumbles to himself as he fold his arms.

Seraphina looks at Nessie, Monte, and Carrick, shrugs, and says "Look, we'll even throw these two in on the deal. 2 more able-bodied fighters at no extra charge. And we'll take responsibility for anything dumb they do."

"Deal!"

Once things are squared away with the Mistress (pay rate, departure date), Seraphina will take the first opportunity to question the newcomers with the dreams.

"So you've seen us in your dreams. Were they good dreams or bad? I had a dream recently, too."

Seraphina describes the unspeakable eldritch horror that she sensed in her dream in the Druids' tent.

Urfrik spits on the ground, as if speaking about the vision put a sour taste in his mouth. I saw... It seemed like a warning. As if some unspeakable horror that was supposed to be long dead is waking.

"It says something about you two that you came toward your evil vision instead of running away. Let me introduce your new crew."

Seraphina gives everyone a chance to introduce themselves, and gives out the names of anyone who doesn't bother.

Godfrey introduces himself to the dwarf.

"Mine was a vision of an ancient evil that was put down long ago. I could not remember much of it but I feel that you all are important people in a prophecy." Godfrey says.

"That's generous of you. If we do depart without a fight, we won't take any payment."

"We won't?" Nessie asks, a little disappointed. She puts a hand atop her empty stomach, her expression souring.

"Eldritch horror, undead horror, bloody horror's given me a headache." she mumbles, as she rubs her temple.

"Any way, either of you lads good in a row?" she looks at the two new comers. Mentally checking what visible weapons and armor they are wearing, and their conditions.

I command the forces of life of and death. I will pull my weight in a fight. Urfrik looks over the gathered individuals, looking gain their measure.

Godfrey gulps... "I'd rather steer away from fights and stay from the back and heal." He replies with an awkward smile while scratching the back of his neck. Weapons? He appears to possess daggers and that was it. His demonstration that caused a commotion earlier though would attest that atleast he knows magic.

For the night, he spends his time praying to his patron, telling 'it' what happened today and thanking it for the blessing it provides.

Morning came and he would go to the designated meeting area but would approach only after another party member comes. Those guards and the mistress might still be wary of him. Godfrey gulps at the possibility of getting bullied if he approaches too early.

After giving Ufrik a long look, she seems satisfied. She turns and follows Sera to the inn and also turns in for the night.

In the morning seeing Godfrey there waiting she just walks past him. Then suddenly turning on her heel, she looks strait at Godfrey, "Now i know you can do some spelly bits, whats the most damning thing you know?"

Now that there's another adventurer, he felt that it would be much safer already to approach. He walks toward Monte then to the meeting spot.

"Damage? Harm is not something that my patron wants to prioritize." He mumbles.

"If I have to, I know fire spells." Godfrey says.

"No, i hadn't misspoken, I said damning. Eye-poppin', tongue flaying, ear splittin', curses, any of them? Fire spells are a good start, but keep them to yourself. Don't need the caravan we are protectin' to burn down around our ears, eh?" she looks over her shoulder at the wooden wagon before turning back to Godfrey.

"Even if you can't thats ok, just kinda nice to have the righteous fury of a god on our side is all. What kinda healin' do you got?"

I have healing enough to keep us on this side of the mortal veil. Urfrik looks at Godfrey then, Though assistance in that endeavor is ever welcome.
