As Grontha, Ruus and Tomas step through, it is no longer ruins in front of them but a small village with fields scattered around, and behind it a small castle. Anyone looking behind no longer sees the rest of the expedition, just a small forest, far less dense than the one you travelled through to get here.
The fields are filled with grain, however as you look around you see no sign of people, or farm animals.

Can I get perception checks from you all. For reference the other two when they stepp through will be on the other side of the castle.Oct 28, 2020 12:08 am
Destulapep and Friedl, you feel the warm welcoming energy as you step into watchtower. There are circular stairs leading up, and the body is slumped nearby. Behind you is one entrance, out which you can see fields slowly leading into a forest. Out the other, the one Destulep saw through there are more fields, and then the castle, only about 10 minutes walk away.

Grontha takes a look around, curious as to where the portal has taken them, especially since she thought they were investigating ruins. Had they gone back in time perhaps, to before the ruins became ruined? She had heard of all sorts of strange things in this regard.

Good point actually, if people are chill with me rolling them. Or I can nick the passive system from 5e. Of course you can still choose to roll them yourselves at times you think it will be usefulFriedl, the grain, it's not swaying, not moving as you would expect it. No wind, not even a breeze. The air, and everything else is completely still, as if in stasis

I'm fine with either. It's just a little hard in Pathfinder, particularly in this situation, because there are so many modifiers and possible re-rolls.Oct 28, 2020 5:56 pm
"Nothing. An impressive nothing actually!
Even the very air is still. If this is the eye of a storm, I am almost scared to imagine the power of it.
As for our quarry, we'll have to go deeper I'm guessing."

I am OK with you rolling, particularly in scenarios such as this where you’d otherwise be posting to ask for rolls - keeps the game flowing much nicer. Hell to be honest, you could even roll offscreen and just post with the results unseen and it would be fine for this sort of thing.Last edited October 28, 2020 8:26 pm

Des roughly handles the corpse. There is no deference for the shell, her spirit has fled. He checks her puffer for the signs they were given, tokens or talismans. And his eyes, too, seek explanation for her demise.

The corpse holds nothing of value, either she held nothing, or everything she had was removed, like her outer clothes. Des is unsure as to her death she seems shrivelled, no moisture left in her body.
Tomas, there is something about this that sees more like planar magic, unfortunately with no expertise in the subject you can't figure much bar that. At first there is no answer to the shout, and then suddenly there is pulse. A pulse that feels wrong, that everyone feels, even Des and Friedl, coming from the castle.
Tomas you feel something shift in the air, like you are being watched. Like something as noticed you.

"Friedl. There is nothing here in this woman. But that pulse, did you feel it? You're more mystically atuned than I. What say you?" He stands, his hands checking his weapons subconsciously. He looks hard at the castle expecting to see a flash of movement.

Friedl motion absent-mindedly at the body as he try to make sense of the pulse he felt.

He also looks at his Wayfinder.

[ +- ] Dimensional Slide
Dimensional Slide (Su) (Advanced Class Guide pg. 11): The arcanist can expend 1 point from her arcane reservoir to create a dimensional crack that she can step through to reach another location. This ability is used as part of a move action or withdraw action, allowing her to move up to 10 feet per arcanist level to any location she can see. This counts as 5 feet of movement. She can only use this ability once per round. She does not provoke attacks of opportunity when moving in this way, but any other movement she attempts as part of her move action provokes as normal.
[ +- ] Wayfinder
Wayfinder, Shining (1500)
A shining wayfinder is a polished silver compass. In addition to the usual functions of a wayfinder (including the ability to create light), a shining wayfinder can be used to cast detect evil—when so used, its needle points not to the north but rather to the nearest source of evil within 60 feet. Once per day, a shining wayfinder can be used to cast protection from evil upon the wayfinder's bearer. A shining wayfinder functions only for a creature that is good-aligned. When held by an evil creature, the shining wayfinder's needle spins in a frantic circle. When held by any creature that is both nonevil and nongood, the needle simply hangs limply, not pointing to anything at all (not even to true north).

"This place was spooky enough to start with. Any idea what could have done that?"
Nov 7, 2020 7:21 pm
The pulse, you are all not sure what it could be. A ripple in the air perhaps, as something changed, something becoming aware of others stepping on their land, of intruders. Or prey.
Tomas the way finder does something you have not seen before. It spins slowly. Perhaps there is no North here. Or perhaps the nearest source of evil is all around. The teleportation works if you try and stay with the fields. Attempting to cross back to the rest of the expedition party however does not work, you hit a block just before where you stepped trhough. If you test to see if your hand goes through, or the rest of you it does so if you simple step. It just sees to be your magical transportation taht is prevented crossing the barrier.
Gravity, magic, everything else seems the same, except for the lack of movement. Has time stood still? Or is their just no life, no wind?

Destulapep makes a gesture, two fingers to his forehead, his heart and then to them. He is a humanoid with serpent like features, and unsettling eyes. He is dressed in leather, and has a shield and a wickedly curved short blade at his waist.
"Greetings. We came looking for a missing woman, or several missing people in fact. But this place is not where we expected to wind up. I am Destulapep, the Undaunted."

My name is Tomas Namielski Genosis, son of Sir Hubris Genosis. We are on an archaeological expedition here in the stolen lands... or it was from the stolen lands that we entered into this realm. I am not sure that we still in River Kingdoms.

"And I am Friedl Oceanrun, follower of the Wind and the Wave. We arrived here by the breeze of a quest like my companion said.
I really doubt we are in the Stolen Lands anymore. This is the most powerful magical place I've seen in all my travel. Quite impressive... and exciting!"
He was a bit of a strange fellow, dressed in a snug light coat with a tattered lower fringe in the shape of trailing seaweed. The scimitar at his belt was well made; His shield, however, looked like planks of driftwood attached by seaweed.

Right, Rus, Grontha, Friedl was it? And you Destulapep... Do any of you know where that pulse of energy came from?

Des shakes his head. "I did not spot the source of that demonstration of power." He examines the others, and senses a convergence of some kind.
