True, it is my turn now, but I cannot react to the mage casting his spell on his turn because I have already used my reaction on that turn. Now that I have my new turn, I have a reaction, too, but it is to late to react to the mage on his.Rolls

As much as I want to use my reaction to attack the spell caster, I’ve seen this teleport trick that our family friend Caine does so I wait and save my precious reaction to protect you if I can.

I'm taken aback by the sudden position I find myself in. With a hint of frustration, I say, "Just strike him, why do you wait?" I know that anything he does to me could be undone with a heal, even knocking me unconscious, and as long as his swings avoid my torso, then I know I shall be alright.

Your senses open detect several different senses. You can sense the heavenly good rhythm that is the music your wife’s aura makes. The unconscious mage from the beginning lets off a smell so foul that the space between you is what keeps your stomach comments inside. The man holding Kit gives off the sense of a faint sense of both good and evil. " My kind are not me! How dare you! I don’t need to explain anything as you don’t want anything to these two, now would you!"

My apologies. My needs as a protective father and my skill with a sword trumps your need. Still, you are ambivalent. I sense some worth in your life. Tell me of the pure one and your need for her and I'll may consider the information worth my forgiveness.

At first, he appears to look sympathetically at the mention of being a "protective father," but is quickly replaced with the resolve he's had. The grip Kitty has on his arm tightens as she winces in pain, the mage hugging the blade in the cut he's already started to create a bit more as he hugs Kitty tighter to him, making sure there's no way you could have aim on him without hurting her too. He hissed, "If you don't kill me, she will. Your threats don't scare me, your forgiveness isn't something I seek." The ambivalence is in his eyes as he looks both angry and scared at you.

I pull on his arm the best I can, but strength has never been my strong suit. My voice is quiet and angry as I hiss, "I'll kill you myself if you so much as touch my child!" True to his word, he's not in the least scared by my statement and only drives the blade a bit further in, causing me to cry out. While I'm not close to dying or being truly damaged, the gash he's slowly creating in my neck hurts like a bitch.

"My eldest is already lost!" he screamed out of nowhere, his body beginning to shake. He tried hard to steady his breath as he closed his eyes for a moment, regaining his self control. His voice is quiet when he speaks again. "I have already seen my son be cursed. Black webbing spread through his body, turning him into a savage animal. I cannot lose my daughters and my wife too. If I don't keep your child alive while they perform their soul modification, then not only is my son's life forsaken, but theirs too. I can't disappoint Loliath." The mage stands firm, but sadness and heartbreak fill his eyes.

He froze at the idea. He started to ask why, but he knew why she’d offer such a thing. After a moment of thinking, he let Kitty go. "They’re being held up just outside of town, in an abandoned house. If you double cross me, I won’t hesitate to harm you or your unborn’s life." He gestured to Kit as he threatened you both. The look of confusion on her face prompted him to respond, "Your hand barely left your stomach, and you’re subtly rubbing it now. My wife did both gestures repeatedly with ours."

I am more than a little concerned that this mage knows how he can harm us most. Now I have two children to protect as well as his.
