As you approach, you notice the water isn’t crystal clear, but you can see what appears to be small beings under the water dancing in circles around the row boat. Just as you get close, one of the glowing things pops their head out of the water and you discover a water faerie. It giggles and eyes you like a brand new toy. The man, who appears to be a captain by his outfit, continues to mumble in Elven. His hazy eyes stare out in a trance as he says, "This is my punishment, I denied her. Forever to circle this spot. This is my punishment, I denied her. Forever to circle this spot."

I take pity on the captain and attempt to undo the magic holding him.

His eyes clear and he looks to you. "These tricksters will ensnare you too if you don't leave," he warns in Elven. He begins to row in an attempt to move forward, but his boat only spins in a circle. "I have been stuck here for half a day now with no way to trick them back so I can escape!"

I think to myself that my wife would be better at tricking fairies, but here I am. I'll do it the Duke way. "Poca, can you water weird him out of the boat like you did Kitty after Elena pushed her?" I ready my sword, ready to deal with any magic using sprites.
Mar 2, 2021 11:26 pm
"Aye," Poca responds before swirling the water around the row boat, lifting the man up and dumping him from the boat and onto the deck. As you watch it happen, you see Ana run up to him, but your attention is brought back to your situation as you hear what sounds like someone else drowning.
Mar 3, 2021 4:08 am
"Man, is there anyone with you?" I say to the captain in Elvish. "Who did you deny?"

I take another look into the sea for someone who may be drowning.
Mar 3, 2021 10:46 pm
The man can’t hear you from the ship, but when you turn and look, you don’t see another person. You do see a flock of the water faeries making their way towards your long canoe.
Mar 3, 2021 10:52 pm
"Now Poca. Time to get out of here and back to the ship..." I turn to the fairies and light my sword with divinity and continue in Elvish, which is closer to their language and older. "I am a Knight of Kiltzi. You may not charm myself or my companion here. What does the sea want with us or what service may I offer as a gift?"
Mar 3, 2021 11:07 pm
Poca begins to row towards the ship as the faerie that was watching you responds, "We play." It looks at you with curiosity. "We do not speak for the sea, only ourselves. He was offered as a toy, we do not enjoy our own tricks and illusions as much anymore. Your blade lights, how fascinating." Poca continues to get closer and closer to the ship and the faeries maintain a healthy distance while still captivated by the glowing sword.
Mar 4, 2021 12:29 am
"Do you like my sword? It can glow as bright as the sun if I like. Would you like this sword. You are near immortal. It won't glow forever like you, but you can play with it? I can offer it to you if you go and leave this part of the sea."

If they take the deal, I cast Daylight on the sword for one hour and throw it far away from the ship for them to get it, and Poca and I take the ship as fast as we can toward the House of Tezca.

The little beings look to each other before finally nodding. They eager chase the sword as it sails and sinks below the ocean surface. You and Poca make it back to the ship and once the long canoe is secured, begin sailing again. The green folk is sitting at the back of ship with Ana talking to him. He looks up at you and says, "Thank you for helping me, I would’ve been stuck out there and died if not for you."

I look over his clothes and insignia and his manner. "We are glad to oblige. I bet you have an interesting tale to tell. What befell you to be in the inner sea far away from the green communities and repeating over and over about being punished and that you denied her."

You watch him speak, and everything he says seems to be honest. "My ship was a merchant ship. We had business in another land to create an agreement for mutual goods. We didn't know we had a stowaway though. This girl seemed lost at first, without home or anything, and we agreed to take her with us, get her help. She asked us to take her to a port near Nexal, she said she had business there. We weren't sailing that way, so we denied her. That's when she unleashed a dark, evil power over my men. That witch took over my ship and my crew before attracting the water faeries and dumping me there to die as punishment for denying her ability to achieve her mistress' wishes."
Mar 4, 2021 6:14 pm
My face shows my dismay. I believe this man. He would gain nothing by a lie like this. "Good man, how old was this girl or what she looked like? And can you tell me anything more about this mistress?

On the Sea of Azul, there is not a port near Nexal, so was she wanting you to drop her off at the northern portion and her go overland through the plains of Peveloc? Surely your ship could not navigate through the Gulf of Qotal and make its way through the bat caves to land at Quezalici on the west coast near to Nexal?

I can take you to House of Tezca where I debark as soon as I can on shore and leave for Tweahco where the Pyramid of the Gods lies, but the ship can take you on around into the Gulf of Qotal and its northern inlet bay where the port there can provide you opportunities to book passage back to even the One Tree if you like. The ship will restock in the bay and await my arrival."

"She was young looking, early twenties maybe? Jet black hair and dark green eyes. She had completely black clothing and what looked like a red emblem on it, but again she looked homeless and her clothing was all torn to pieces. I’m not sure who the mistress was, some god or something. None of our gods though, I know the gods of true Maztica.

"Quezalici! That is the place! The place of her mistress’s unfinished business. Our ship could make it through the bat caves with ease, we do business at times with the tribe there. She picked the perfect vessel truly. You can drop me anywhere, making my way home will be easy, I have friends in most ports here."
Mar 4, 2021 9:50 pm
"I don't suppose she gave her name? Or that she worshiped Loliath?"
Mar 5, 2021 12:19 pm
"I cannot recall her name, but the other one sounds familiar. My common is not the best, but it sounds correct sir."
Mar 5, 2021 12:26 pm
I wake up and come out onto the deck, quickly finding you and Ana. "There’s my two loves, what are you-" I start to speak as I approach. My smiling shifts into a look of confusion as I see the passenger we didn’t have when I fell asleep. "What be the cause of this? Ana, come here." I quickly pull her behind me as she approaches, fearful that even though you’re letting her be near him, something could be afoot for all I know.
Mar 5, 2021 3:12 pm
"Ah, there is the love and captain of my life! I let you sleep as long as I could, but we have a guest aboard." I smile broadly, come up to you, and give you a deep and possessive hug giving me time to telepath my concern, His ship was highjacked by a witch cultist to Loliath who said she was taking the ship for ill purposes in Quezalici. I have only just recued him from the charms of water fairies. Turning to the Green Folk, I stiffen, "My apologies, my sea manners! My dear Captain Caliph, may I introduce you to ... I'm sorry Green Folk sir, I did not catch your name? My name is First Mate Hoahca. You have already met my niece Toanawa." Since his common isn't strong, I have thickened my common accent to obfuscate our names, especially Ana's which you have spoken. I try to be as friendly as I can, but I do not want him spreading word of us in every port and everywhere. If any were to follow us to the Pyramid, then the guardian can protect us. At least it is in the opposite direction of Ulatos, where we are ultimately bound.

"Perhaps we should disembark on the sandy shores and take Spirit to the Pyramid as planned, while the ship outraces his own stolen ship and takes him back to Quezalici to warn Godslayer and the others of this threat. King Jacob perhaps can help as his manners have mellowed of late. That will give us time to ride Spirit like the wind overland through Pezeloc to Ulatos.

Perhaps you can pull out of him more of this threat?"
Mar 5, 2021 11:05 pm
"Captain Centehua, it’s wonderful to meet you all! He continues in Elvish, smiling as he stands and greets me with a twinkle in his eye. He shares everything he’s already told you while slowly working to stand close to me, his eyes never deviating from staring flirtatiously at me.
