Takezo took a moment to carefully inspect the Ninpō as this might be crucial information needed for later on. Then he went about getting the Hō-ō to eat the bamboo grains and pellets he had brought with him. It was here that he learned truly that the Hō-ō was more than just a bird as it spoke to him. He told the Hō-ō he had come to free it, which was not a lie but it was not the entire truth either. Once he had fed the Hō-ō he proceeded to take the quill and ink and make the symbols upon the its body telling it these would be necessary for it to gain its freedom once they got it out of this place. Once all was in place and the ritual had been spoken, he signaled the transport team to get things in place and then proceeded to place the cage upon the collapsible cart he had brought with him and encased the cage with material that made it look like an innocuous box. From here the rest of the exchange went as smoothly as the gaining entry and soon the Hō-ō had been replaced by its look alike peacock. And the he and the Hō-ō were in route to the safe house.

I'll suggest this addition to the end of DeJoker's drama scene since it was clear Lacy was headed there in the first scene. I think it ratchets up the drama a little bit ;)
Upon sneaking into Tesla's Research Facility, Lacy opens the phoenix's cage to find the plucked peacock. Cursing to herself about getting distracted by Sumono, she takes the poor bird under her arm ... there must be an animal shelter that will take the bird ... and intentionally trips the alarm as she leaves so that the perpetrator will have the authorities to deal with, a complication they clearly wanted to delay.

And perhaps it will give me the opportunity to pick-up the trail myself ...

Sumomo was proud oni-blood, born of generations of beings not well known for subtlety. However, as the guardian of the First Gate, her training was specifically involved some subtlety.

Using one of these abilities, Sumomo assumed the guise cleaning person and made her way into the lab. She found almost immediately that the phoenix had just recently been stolen.

Carefully listening in to every conversation, it was Sumomo’s hope to pick up anything useful, including how the phoenix had been captured in the first place.

What kind of mechanical benefit are you looking for in this scene?

Aaron is sitting at a desk in his apartment, laptop open in front of him and a cup of steaming coffee. The working life of a diplomat isn't 8-5 so he's taking this opportunity to be out of the office and take in some sunlight. On his computer is a map of the city memorizing it. He hasn't been in town long.

Before that, he had spent the morning doing a light work out to keep sharp and awaiting a new assignment for either of his jobs. He's young-ish at 22, being able to seem a little younger or a little older as needed. In good shape and fairly handsome. No scars from his training have made it to his face. He has sharp brown eyes and skin, and very short black hair.

An email enters Aaron's inbox. Opening it up, it's the typical Hirasaka email disguised as spam. Decoding it, Aaron is presented with a time sensitive mission. Apparently, Tesla was in possession of a phoenix, which they were going to use for powering their batteries. Although currently featherless, the phoenix will rejuvenate in a few days, restoring its mystic plumage. Aaron's mission is to acquire the phoenix, as its property of rejuvenation could serve valuable for medical research. The email warns of other ninjas pursuing the phoenix, including a Hirasaka agent from a rival branch.
OOC:
For the purposes of this game, I'll say that Lacy and Aaron are from different Hirasaka branches, which compete with each other for funding.

Great!
Aaron reads the email, one more time to memorize it, then deletes the message as he would any type of spam. He leans back against his chair, takes a deep slow breathe in as his eyes become empty. Then he exhales, leans back forward to the computer and his ees are focused again. He’s got his fire burning inside him and is happy to have direction.

He spends a little time finding Tesla headquarters and gathering a bit of information which may or may not be useful to him on the mission. Then, within the hour, he's suited up in his best government black suit and sunglasses and out the door with his casual but stylish messenger bag. Ready to accomplish his mission.

I'm looking for a lead on who took the phoenix, possibly a location?

OOC:
Sure, make a roll for Takezo's Location. 2d6 against TN 5.

Its Takezo ;-)

Its Takezo ;-)

😆 I was just wondering that.

Liek This?

Rolls

2d6

(21) = 3

Unfortunately, the people milling about the lab are just about as out of the loop as Sumomo is. She mostly picks up talk about the obvious, which is to say that the phoenix was stolen from under their noses.
OOC:
That roll fails, so you don't find out anything useful for now. You can go ahead and wrap up the scene.

Sumomo curses a bit as she leaves the lab. It seems she might need to call on some outside help for this one.

OOC:
Alright, it's Aaron's turn to do some ninja stuff.
