Precious Cargo - Character Creation

Here we can hash out tone and theme, party dynamics, character creation, and setting-specific homebrew.

I have an outgoing, friendly mage in mind, he is a people person and not very good at physical combat. Maybe with a bow and thrown daggers.

His highest trait is magic.

I was thinking of a "bound monster" type. The idea being that someone, (the king, the queen, or maybe some brave knight, or something...somebody who truly loves the princess and wants her to be protected, it isn't super important at the moment, but will be figured out...and maybe it was another PC if they want!) defeated them and bound the monster to protect the princess. I haven't settled on the actual monster in question, but fairy or demon is most likely. And they will have a "human passing" form and a "monster form" , basically I'm looking for the right character art on Pintrest to inspire me.

Theres a chart towards the back of the book showing what number to pick for which odds on a given die.

Well it looks like my level of reading comprehension was lacking. If this was a snafu in character I would laugh it off as just getting older and be mindful. Leader at 4 and Brute/Book at 3 rest at 2, does that work?

Dumb question for how Frank is set up he body is actually 4 then right?

So with body set to 3, you can succeed on brute force on (1, 2, 3) and fine motor on (4, 5, 6). Is that what you intended?

If you want him to be more of a tank, set brute to 4.

Yeah, I'd like to keep it simple in that regard.

How do I do magic?

Roll. Your die will determine how intense your magic is, but other than that, if you pass, you cast.

As a narrative game, it looks like anything you want, but you need a Habit to justify your use. Like I put Demonic Magic on my character. I see that as curses and damaging magic. Healing would be a no-go unless it was like a "transfer of harm" affect. So it will depend on the nature what you want and how we all decide the world works.

Yeah. And like, you can try whatever, really, but you get that sweet, sweet advantage if there's a habit, so those are naturally spells and schools you're better at.

Maskcot, did you want your "human passing" form to drive your character creation, or shall I make you a demon?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Are you suggesting 'racial features'? I'm not sure what I'd want, but I guess I'm open to suggestions. The story about her in my head is that she thinks she is getting released and banished back to her dimension after this job. I want her to be a demon, but with the ability to take on a form that won't immediately send people into a panic.

So, I guess, my short answer is...what did you have in mind?
