Linston and Elceran can see the form stalking their friends. But haven't gotten their attention. As they get closer, they can see it is larger than a wolf. Much larger.

Hearing the distant whistling, Clarice jumps up and looks in the direction she thinks the sound is coming from.

Grim hearing a whistle tries to be more aware of his surroundings and figure out which direction it came from. Fearing it might be an enemy he makes sure his whip is within his reach
