Skallagrimm says:
I've never played a paladin before. and if I think of paladins, (good and bad) one word comes to my mind - UNCOMPROMISING
so, I don't really see how to be a Paladin and not be, well, a jerk.
but a jerk who is always kind to children, helps the less fortunate, and never tells a lie, or lets you down is better than that guy who acts so nice, but stabs you in the back....
Yea, I mean that's definitely the stereotype and the charicature, right? But is the stereotype or charicature really interesting? Which is to say, does that character create dramatic and interesting scenarios? Or do they shut doors that lead to interesting and dramatic scenarios?
Ultimately, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask players to not disrupt the game/shut doors with the portrayal of their character. And that's all I ask.
And I haven't seen that from anyone, even if the IC "banter" seems to be very near it, I don't think any lines have been crossed.
Belarus can continue to be a jerk, but he can also function within a world that doesn't have homogenous worldviews.
The others can not like jerks, but they can also realize jerks can be fundamentally good and/or at least a good asset toward succeeding at their cause.
And that tension can be used to create dramatic and interesting interactions, rather than ending any stories.
