The trip to Far Reach was long and fraught with peril. On more than one occasion those being employed to protect the caravan definitely earned their keep be it wages at journeys end or safer passage to Boareskyr Bridge. However the last leg of the journey proved to be the worst. For upon the constantly wind swept fields of the Sky Plateau the group was set upon by a large contingency of raiders. It took a massive effort upon the protectors behalf to finally repel them leaving many badly wounded and a few dead. Still the caravan was able to make the safety of Titan's Cleave. It was rumored that a Titan's Great Sword had created the break in the Sky Plateau and it appeared that the rumor may have well been true for it resembled a jagged gaping wound. Still from there forward the most dangerous element was just the occasional falling rock as the caravan descended down through Titan's Cleave into the valley of Far Reach.

As the caravan begins moving out of the Cleave and into the valley proper one could see the fabled Boareskyr Bridge in the distance and next it the rather ramshackle town that rests at its southern end. The warmth of the valley was quite noticeable compared to the colder air of the Sky Plateau and one could imagine that at times it might actually get uncomfortably warm at times. Still the weather in the valley seemed to be pleasant enough right now and the grassy hills the caravan travels through seems peaceful enough. One could easily tell when one was getting close to the village as even a few farmhouses had already sprung up indicating that some protection was given to the region immediately south of the village.

Upon arrival just short of the town but in sight of the large wooden sign labeled "Southbridge Village" the caravan pauses for inspection. A small contingency of archers flank the caravan on either side while four seasoned looking veterans walk the length of the caravan two a side and a fifth with a writing board speaks with the caravan master up front. Their surcoats over their chain mail denote them as followers of different deities. The one up front who is obviously a well-groomed Tiefling wears an equally fine surcoat of Kelemvor while one of the walkers who is obviously a Dragonborn wears the surcoat of Bahamut, next to him is a Human wearing the surcoat of Torm, on the otherside is an Elf wearing the surcoat of Correllon and along side him a Half-Elf wearing the surcoat of Lathander. While a mixed group of dieties even the most unknowledgable in religion would easily note that they are all dieties associated with law and order. Perhaps these were some of the actual seven Paladins that are rumored to be the anchor of government and safety here.

On their walk back up from the rear of the caravan the Dragonborn states in Humanish in a deep booming voice that is easily heard by all. "We here welcome you all to Southbridge Village. Please refrain from excessive rowdiness as that may get you a visit to our wonderful stockade. If any of you are planning to stay on please report to the garrison in the next few days as all long term residents are expected to actively help with the defenses of the village. Other than that we hope you enjoy your stay here in Southbridge Village."

OOC:
Okay the group met during the long caravan route, further you fought side by side while defending the caravan and oneself. During this time you all got acquainted and at some point agreed to work together as an adventuring group once you all got to Boareskyr Bridge.

If any of you wish to explore the village let me know otherwise we can assume you all agreed to go to the garrison straight away upon arrival to hopefully be the first from this caravan so you can get the best potential assignments or maybe word of someone looking for some adventurers to solve a problem for them.

Might as well go to the garrison first. They may be able to point us to a direction of a good tavern, an inn, and who knows what else...

Vir leaps off the caravan, landing lightly on his feet - glad to be able to stretch his legs. The guards represented an opportunity to learn more about the Far Reach. The skald had never traveled to these parts.

"Greetings, fine sirs and ladies," he says, bowing dramatically as he does so, "Can you tell us more about what one is expected to defend against for your lovely village?"

He agreed with Stalvos that going directly to the garrison was best, but first, he had questions to ask.

Okay to whom is Virielo actually talking to exactly? The guards with bows or the paladins or someone else??

OOC:
He's responding to the Dragonborn, but his question is addressed to any guards nearby that feel like talking.
May 25, 2021 7:37 am
The Dragonborn looks at Virielo and says, "Fairly simple, any enemy who would wish harm upon the village or its residents."
May 25, 2021 7:53 am
"Most assuredly," Vir agrees, nodding with an exaggerated expression of concern, "My fellow companions and I seek work at Boareskyr Bridge defending our fine village. Since we are on the same side, can you advise on the best method of defeating those enemies?"
OOC:
He's fishing for information on the nature of potential enemies that might plague the village.
May 25, 2021 8:44 am
The Dragonborn cocks his head to the side a bit and says, "Well again fairly simple, you join the garrison but to clarify we defend Southbridge as Boareskyr Bridge does not need much defending. Its been their a long time and I imagine its going to be there long after both of us have lived full lives."
OOC:
Yes I caught that and perhaps the Dragonborn has too but then again maybe not, hard to say.
May 25, 2021 9:11 am
"Oh, the mistake is mine. I mixed up my words. That's what you get for being new to this region. Regardless, it must be a sight to behold up-close." He flashes an apologetic smile towards the dragonborn.

Then he turns to look at the stone statues in the distance that appear to be challenging each other. A ballad to stir the folks of Southbridge Village and bolster their courage might win him early favors. If they were going to be working here for a time, it would do well to get in good graces with the locals.
OOC:
Can I assume that Vir gets the sense that it means the Bridge is rarely directly attacked?
May 25, 2021 11:53 am
Stalvos looks around and shrugs, not really impressed by much of the things around. Just another city. Just another bridge. He has seen all sorts in his days, but he knows better than to say this out loud.
May 25, 2021 10:58 pm
OOC:
Technically from where you are currently at you cannot see the bridge as it lies upon the other side of the village past the high wooden walls. The Bridge itself is not attacked yes, but this does not mean fighting does not occur upon the bridge in protection of the village.
The Dragonborn nods, "Yes, Boareskyr Bridge is a rather impressive bridge perhaps only surpassed by the great Stone Bridge itself. However, it is unclear of these two bridges which one is actually older as there is no record of this bridge and it defies the mages to ascertain when it was built or by whom it was built or if it was in fact even built."
May 27, 2021 1:22 pm
Shall we go to the garrison then? Seems the best place to start.
May 31, 2021 12:43 am
Yeah we might as well
May 31, 2021 1:53 am
As Faedrith approaches the rest of the group, she hears talk of the town's garrison. "Seeing as we have nothing better to do," she agrees, "let's be off."
May 31, 2021 1:55 am
"I do love a mystery." Vir replies, walking back to the caravan.

"I wonder what secrets those lands hold for us. My companions are most eager to move on, and I am too. A name for a name? I am Virielo. Perhaps we can speak later as you seem knowledgeable on Far Reach."
Jun 3, 2021 6:53 am
The dragonborn chuckles his seeming smile looking more predatory than humorous, "Well if you love mysteries, then this a good place to be and I am known as Shahadur the Annihilator. If you join the Garrison I can assure you that we will speak again but there are those more knowledgeable than I that you will be speaking with as well."
OOC:
So is the group headed into the village or doing anything else prior to doing that?
Jun 3, 2021 7:05 am
OOC:
I believe we're heading to the garrison/village
Jun 4, 2021 3:18 am
OOC:
Same. To the village.
"Pleasure, Shahadur," Faedrith says with a small bow, a little awkward but with proper respect. "Faedrith."

It does not take the group, in general, long to enter through the ramshackle looking gate. Although, up close one can obviously see that the gates and the wall are actually quite sturdy they just appear to be shoddy due to their non-uniform lengths and widths. Still the gates are not the first thing one notices as they get near as an odor wafts out to greet them first. The strong scent of animals, manure, cooking, campfire smoke, and earth all mix together creating a none civilized smell that while pungent is not necessarily unpleasant, especially for those who prefer outdoor living versus city living. The dirt packed streets are lined with make-shift board walks making it obvious that when the streets get wet they might not be easily navigable. The semi-sea of kaleidoscopic tents seem to make up the bulk of the interior accompanied by the din of the marketplace that they represent. Off in the distance rising above these tents like majestic wooden towers stand five wooden structures the signs hanging from them, due to their shape as they are too far away to make out clearly, indicating that they were Inns. The fact that these flat roofed structures actually stand taller than the walls lends to the sense that perhaps they are even used as towers when needed. The road stretches out in front of them as well as going off to the right and there is a well worn path off to the left that seems to lead to one of the Inns. There is an Inn to their left and one to their right, another further down and to their left, and yet another even further down and to their left, the last appears to be directly across the near center of the central marketplace. Several guards stand just inside the gate holding halberds and then of course the various vendors and customers of the marketplace are milling about near by. However there appears to be no signs indicating, this way to the garrison.
