Faedrith looks around, dazed by the size and clamor of the settlement. She spots the guards at the gate and approaches one of them. "Excuse me," she asks. "would you be able to assist us in locating the town's garrison?"

Vir's accustomed to urban communities, but even the skald is staggered by the assault on his nose by the odorous scents wafting out of Southbridge Village. The fresh air during the journey is already sorely missed. Certainly, he doesn't miss the raiders, though - good riddance to those fools.

"By Selune, we have arrived at last!" he says to no-one in particular, merely pleased that he's alive and in good health. The colorful tents intrigue Vir and he wants to explore their contents, but there's plenty of time for that once they've settled in.

While Faedrith questions the guards, Vir surveys the area searching for unusual attractions that are not immediately visible from their location.

The guard looks at Faedrith and nods saying, "Yeah, you just," he points off to his right, "go down that road it will lead you to the bridge that takes you to the garrison. You cannot miss it."

Armed with directions, finding the garrison is not a difficult manner as it resides within the fort that is at the end of two of the roads out of three that exist within the village. The north-south road is nearly a straight line between the north and south gates and the other two roads go from near each gate to the fort which is located east of the gates and pretty close to half way between them. Using these main packed dirt roads is pretty easy and they are bordered by wooden walkways to allow easier travel when the roads are not so dry as they are now. Further they can see that once one leaves one of these main roads the tents of the open market place appears to be a haphazard maze of narrow walkways interspersed with small open areas where a tent once stood. Upon getting closer to the fort the group arrives at a bridge which from a distance looks rather crude but upon closer inspection turns out to be very stable and probably capable of handling a pretty heavy load before even complaining. Just before the bridge though seems to be a guard check point as the group is halted from going any further, "Please state the nature of your business."

Meanwhile, before getting to the bridge, Virielo notices a nicely dressed dark skinned fFolk female noticing him and her darker skin does not appear to be due to her human heritage.

Well, I believe we are here to join up and assist the town, correct? looking at his companions as he says this and elbowing Virielo to get his attention when they begin talking to the guards.

Yes we are. Stor agrees with Stalvos But if you have no need for us, then we will be on way elsewhere.

OOC:
Okay I was hoping Queni would have responded by now but I will move things forward later today and they can catch up if they have not posted by then.

Vir takes note of the dark-skinned female. The skald's unwilling to abandon his companions at this juncture, but he's pulled by conflicting desires, and so he hopes to see her around the village at a later date.

"A mere distraction. Forgive me." he grins, "Let's be on our way, then!"
OOC:
Please send me a PM if you want to nudge me along. It's no trouble.

The guard looks questioningly at Stor, "Okay..? well if you are planning on staying in the village more than a weeks time you are required to join the garrison in support of the village that you are calling home. Now it appears that is your intent... so... proceeding forward you will check your weapons with the man over there." He points to a table off to the side where a man sits with a book in front of him and a pair of guards to either side. "Once you have checked your weapons, you will need to submit to a search just in case, then finally a minor test prior to being allowed to cross the bridge."

Well then, if we are really going to do this, then let us do this.
Jun 29, 2021 3:59 am
The guard gestures Stalvos over to the man with the book so he can check all his weapons.
OOC:
Other than role playing it out if you want -- all I need to know is if anyone is going to attempt to smuggle a weapon

Very well Stor says not pleased with the idea of being without a weapon. He then proceeds to relinquish his 6 daggers 1 at a time. Two from his waists, two from the insides of his clothes and two he had hidden, one that was in his shoe and the other that was strapped to his thigh. You can never be to careful he says as he places down his final dagger.

The man seated at the table briefly glances up from his recording of the items and says to Stor, "Most definitely," he then goes back to recording in his book as he continues with, "and that is why all non-garrison members must check there weapons here as one can never be too careful."
