As you approach the camp, you find it mostly abandoned. The stinking huts of the kobolds have been burned, but the human's huts and guard towers remain.

All the wagons and pack animals are gone, but some hunters remain with their horses. And the large ornate tents off the leaders still stand, and are still guarded.

The cave mouth is at the far back of the camp, it's large, but obscured by shadow from your vantage point.

Four hunters walking a chain of 8 horses are walking slowly out of the camp's gate towards you.

after the hunters pass, the coast is clear, and the path ahead is wide open. A deep silence hangs over the camp like a curtain, and the only light is from inside the cave mouth about 250' away.

the entrance to the cave is broad and tall, but you can see the ceiling quickly lowers to about 15' in height. The morning light lets you see 30' or so into the gaping maw before darkness closes the curtain.

But beyond the dark flickers of light dance dimly and cast long looming shadows.

After watching the man for a bit, Clarice decides to take a more pro-active approach. Using her natural ability to create noises or fake objects, she'll create the sound of low whistle to the right of the man, just to see how he reacts.

A bit of fleece catches the air and floats delicately towards the ground. As a low whistle begins to almost moan deeper in the cave. The man in the mask turns to his left, has a look around, then says "what the hell is that?"

And a second dragon-claw steps into view.

and he disappears deeper into the cave.

Clarice and Elceran move so quietly, they almost cancel out all the natural noises around them. A clank from Linston tripping over a rock echoes behind them, but there's no one around to notice.

The group moves quickly through the large cavern, the place looks like it was cleaned and swept recently. The guard rushes past the second and third stone column disappears around a corner. When you manage to catch up, you are in a darkened dead end.

Beyond the third column was a staircase leading down a few steps, but the guard definitely went this way.......

Searching the alcove, it doesn't take long to find the passage. A strange quirk of nature has created a "fold" in the stone here, making the pass almost invisible. Looking around the corner, the passage travels about 15' before forking north and south.

The way is clear, but you've lost a bit of time, and the guard is nowhere to be seen, or heard.

As he peers around the corner he finds an argument underway. The guard that you've been following is being chewed out for leaving his post.

"hatching dragons or no hatching dragons" screams the boss.

This is clearly a barracks room. beds and tables for about 40 men or so. However there are currently 3 guards and 5 cultists total in the room. All quite distracted.

the hallway (cavern really) you are in ends at the barracks room. The room is large, 20' by 100' or so. Lined on both sides with rough beds, and a line of tables down the middle. There is a doorway on the opposite end as well as the one you are standing in.

The group of guards and cultists is clustered around one of the tables, about 30' from you.

Watching the flames burst forth from Linston's fingertips brings a smile to Clarice's face.

like a scene from a movie, but not a good movie, one of those completely over the top martial arts movies they made in the 80's, bodies drop like flies. But one plucky young man will not yield. He leaps into the air, literally RUNS UP the cavern wall, before launching himself across the room in a series of spins that would make an olympic high diver gasp. His steely eyes locked on Linston as drives himself relentlessly towards his attacker. He dodges the flames like it's what he was born to do. He grins a maniacal grin like a man with victory in his grasp....
oh wait. That isn't victory. It's fire. Not a lot of fire, just a bit. But enough to light his shirt, his hair, his eyebrows.... he plows into the ground in an epileptic fit of agony. Burning to death before your very eyes.

He made such a show of it, you didn't even see all the others die. But boy oh boy, you can smell it.

There was a large release of new features. I haven't experienced any issues though. Are you using Adam's GP extension for your browser? I think he mentioned you might need to disable that with these new releases.

There is only one other entrance to this barracks cavern. In the far east wall.

(you entered from the north)

A short passage connects to another chamber, about half the size of the barracks. But where the Barracks was spartan, this area is quite luxurious. There is a writing desk and a stool, several tables with books and papers and a mirror on a floor stand. Light comes from two oil lamps. Thick rugs completely cover the floor. An opening in the north wall is covered with a thick velvet curtain.

Clarice hears a gear turn. She hears a CLICK. And the corner of her eye sees a single dart fly through the air.

Possible the most unsettling thin one can witness, is the indescribable energy that adds "light" to our eyes slowly dimming, and finally going...... out.

It can't really be seen. But we all see it. And when it fades, we feel it go.

Grim's light has faded now. And although none of you are healers, or skilled with medicine. You all know it. The room feels suddenly colder. The world a little bit more harsh.

Clarice looks for a way out of this room that has become a morgue. There doesn't appear to be one, until she sees a strange wrinkling in the thick rugs. There's a depression, and just a bit of extra wear on one corner. Peeling it back reveals a chute that drops down into the dark room below. A rope ladder is fixed in the chute for climbing up and down.

Elceran and Clarice drop to the ground silently, and find themselves is some sort of shrine. Black dragons are painted on all the walls, each facing the statue of Tiamat on the west wall. A hulking form kneels at the statue. Langdedrosa Cyanwrath! The half dragon champion that beat Grim so viciously back in Greenest!!

Elceran and Clarice are in a dark corner about 10' south of the half dragon, when two brutish looking humans enter the room from the north. Dragging an unhappy elf with them.

"after them others escaped, this theif is the only prisoner we got left..... whadda we do wit'im?' one of the thugs asks Langdedrosa.

And the half dragon rises to answer, his back to you.

The half dragon as lightning speed reflexes, but Clarice has a moments worth of planning on her side.

A fish of steel is seen from Langdedrosa's belt, but immediately dust and dirt is kicked into the air by a shockwave.

BOOOM!!!

The blast hits the half dragon directly in the face, and his hulking form blocks most of the blast from hitting the thugs. They are all pushed back, Langderosa's claws scratching the stone floor itself.

Your ears ring as the blast echoes again and again through the chamber. The dust settles, and the half dragon smiles. A single drop of blood falling from his nose. He recognizes faces from the duel at Greenest, he smiles, a toothy smile, and says

"You survived! I don't know wether to be disappointed or pleased. It's a mix of both I think."

Glowing darts streak across the room, and Elceran's fists are flying right behind them. Bright flashes fill the cavern. The half dragon, bobs and weaves dodging several blows, but taking a few on the chin as well.

He spins on you, eyes glowing with rage. For the briefest instant he smiles, before his jaws unlock and lightning bursts forth from his maw.

The room explodes with light, our heroes fall.

Clarice and Grim do their best to hold the beast at bay. But their strength is failing. Riardin hasn't moved at all, and even though they don't know him, they do their best to shield him from further harm.

The half dragon is strong, arrogant, and cruel. Your pain only makes him stronger. His razor like teeth gleam in the dim light as he smiles at your weak attempts to kill him. A few light darts burst against his skin as he easily deflects Grim's blows. And he raises he's great sword high above his head and licks his his lips as he moves toward Clarice preparing to cleave her head off.

"less of a challenge than last time...." he growls.

But as he nears the hanging ladder, a flash of light falls from above. It's Linston. All the blessings of the cleric's gods are coursing through his veins.

"LATHANDER!!" he screams as he falls on the half dragon monster "GIVE ME - FIRE!!!!"

He crashes onto Langdedrosa's head. Cutting himself deeply on the beast's horns and sword. But no blood seeps from his gaping wounds. Instead light pours out of them. Filling the cavern. The light gets brighter, hotter, too much to bear. As you all shield your eyes, Linston bursts ito a sphere of pure, cleansing fire.

It happens in an instant. Pure white light like a flash. Then silence. A warm friendly glow filling the chamber. A warm feeling fills each of you and your wounds close before your eyes.

A small pile of fine white ash lies where the beast stood a moment ago. Linston's holy symbol of Lathander lies at it's centre.

Grim and Clarice help the thief to his feet, amazed that he seems completely uninjured.

Finally getting a chance to survey their surroundings, it is clear that this chamber has been enlarged and reshaped from it's original form. The floor and three of the walls are smooth, and stalactites and stalagmites have been polished into gleaming columns. Every surface glistens with moisture, and the air is warm and humid. The flat walls of the chamber are decorated with shallow abstract carvings of dragons. Dragon tails coil into intricate patterns and knots that flow across the walls.

The creature portrayed in the north west corner stands out:

A five headed dragon, rising from an erupting volcano. Other dragons, which seem dwarfed by the five headed monstrosity, flock to its side. A small wooden chest with silver and mother of pearl inlays sits on at the floor in the corner, in front of the monstrous dragon carving.

Clarice walks over to the pile of ashes, picks up the holy symbol, and carefully brushes it clean with the loose sleeves of her robe.

"We should find a proper place for this." she says quietly, placing Linston's holy symbol into her pack.

After a few moments of pondering what has just actually happened she turns her attention to newly freed captive.

"How did you end up here?"

As he tucks the dagger in his belt, he notices the spear head in the ashes of the Half Dragon. Picking it up, he tests the heft with a few swings. With a shrug, he holds onto it and moves towards Clarice and the stairs.

the stairs depend down, they aren't steep, but they are long. Even dark-vision can't penetrate the gloom they descend into. Pausing at the top, you strain your eyes and ears. But it's no use. The tunnel is as dark as it is silent.

there's no hard rule. I will ask for rolls when they're important, I'll sometimes just make the rolls if it keep things moving. But at anytime you can add a roll yourself, like stealth or perception in a case like this, it's faster than waiting for me to ask, and no harm done if it isn't needed

like a shadow that can't be seen because it's too dark, the group slowly descends the stairs. The chamber that opens at the bottom of the stairs is immense. A wide ledge runs along the left wall and drops away to a pit on the right. Many stalactites descend from the ceiling, and the sound of dripping water echoes continuously.

it doesn't take long to get the "lay of the land" even though the chamber is so large. You stand on a broad, curving ridge, about 15' above the floor of the chamber. About 50' in front of you, in the center of the ridge is an odd wooden staircase. It's odd because it's completely wrapped in a sturdy looking iron cage. At the bottom, a stout gate locks the stairs up.

the stairs look rickety and haphazardly built, but upon close inspection they're thick and strong. Just not.... refined. The builders knew what they were doing, just didn't waste any time straightening lines or smoothing out rough edges.

The iron cage is clearly sufficient to stop an ogre in it's tracks, none of you are going to bend one of these bars.

As he looks about, a glint of metal catches Riardin's eye. A KEY! Just dangling on a wooden peg, right near the top of the stairs.

Yes. You are on the ledge, and the stairs go down. The key is a the top, near you. The locked gate is at the bottom of the stairs

Riardin moves to the bottom of the staircase cage/tunnel. He takes a long look around, but all seems still. The key slides easily into the lock and turns quietly, leaving the gate hanging slightly open.....

the gate opens with a click, and a creak. You move cautiously through, realizing now that the ground around your feet is stained with blood. Some of it very fresh looking. The heat and humidity stifling down here, dramatically different than the cool breezes at the top of the stairs.

Long shadows criss cross the floor in every direction, and the gate clangs shut behind you.

moving silently, you almost vanish into the shadows of the cave, and as you near the eggs you see the reason for the gate. Two drakes are curled up along side them. One seems to be fast asleep, while the other is busy at work licking itself.

the eggs are about 50' away from the gate. And about 3' tall. The tops of them can be seen from the gate. The drakes are lying down, so they can't be seen from the gate, but if/when they stand up they will be easily visible.

"you can't win if you're the mouse" she mutters as she goes.

She walks straight up to the self-licking drake, and swats at his head. The drake moves out of the way effortlessly before batting that cat away like a toy. She sails through the air, straight towards you. And she splats onto the hard rocks about half way between you and the now standing drake.

two scenes unfold at once. At the bottom of the stairs, both drakes are awake, one charges while the other rises to it's feet. (using it's action)

at the top of the stairs a shriek breaks through the dark. As four kobolds (who were supposed to be guarding the gate) are drawn back to their positions by the noise. They toss clay pots full of.... something over the edge to rain down on Clarice, Riardin, and Zsa.

Elceran sees the kobolds at the edge of the ledge. But he can't act quick enough to interrupt them.

They toss the pots over the side, two smash into the ground spreading a sickly green ooze across the floor, while toe crack open bursting with spreading flames.

The kobolds don't throw with any accuracy at all, and the ooze isn't just sticky, it's also flammable. Soon four ten foot wide pools of fire rage across the floor.

Clarice and Riardin escape the glue and fan at their clothing madly to batter out the flames. The drakes are momentarily stunned by the flames. Smoke begins to fill the chamber. At the bottom everyone can still see each other, but Elceran and the kobolds are blinded.

"You shouldn't bite!" she scowls and quickly starts reciting an incantation before unleashing a thunderous blast from the palm of her hands.

Sorry for the delay, I got a bit lost and should have asked for clarification sooner. I thought we were behind the gate, so as to keep a barrier between us and the drakes, but we're getting bitten so I'm confused. So are Clarice and Riardin locked in the room with the drakes and Elceran is up the stairs on the ledge with the kobolds? I think everything else will make sense once I get that all straight...
